Today on this 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, we're going to review and install the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Twist-Mount 7-Way RV and 4-Way Trailer Connector, part number HM40920. This is what it looks like when it's installed. Let's go ahead and cover some of the features. First up, we'll go ahead and open it, take a look at inside this 7-pole connector. This has a very common 7-way RV style connector with the flat blades. This will accommodate 7 circuits.
We look on top of the lid here, it has a seal to help protect the contacts when it's not being used. One neat thing also about the lid compared to the OEM one, you'll notice I can run this all the way up in almost 180 degrees. Comparing it to a factory one, it doesn't go quite as far. With this one, it's a lot easier to take our 7-pole connector from a trailer and plug into place. You'll also notice that this tab right here fits over this part. Let's go ahead and take a look at the 4-pole connector underneath.
It has some protective lid, rotate it out of the way. This will accommodate your 4-pole connector from your trailer. Just line up the pins, push it into place. Of course when you're not using it, nice cap goes right back into place and covers the contacts. One thing to know about construction about this, this is all created from a durable ABS construction, and then the cap here is made of a softer rubber-like material.
This is a great option compared to your original factory unit that you can replace it from the dealership. For new endurance connector here, you have the best of both worlds. Now that we've covered the features, we can go ahead and show how we install it. Let's do a quick comparison. This is a Hopkins endurance connector right here and this is the OEM connector on the trailer. We can use this connector as an exact replacement for OEM connector here.
To start off, we'll need to go ahead and remove our electrical connector. There's a small tab you could push down right here and then pull apart. Originally, this had a gray connector that was like an L-shape around here to help lock it in place. Ours is missing on this one. You just simply take a screwdriver and just pop it loose. Then we push down this button here, and it comes apart. There's a little pin right here that you push back using a tool like a small screwdriver, push it back, and then you can twist it. Of course mine is missing here. After you push back, you can rotate it counterclockwise, pull it out to remove it. We'll take our new endurance connector. We'll start up facing up, rotate it until the small tab lines up with this slot here, and we'll push it into place. Rotate it clockwise, there should be some resistance, until it snaps into place with this lock right here. Before I put it back together, it's a good idea to use some dielectric grease along connection points if it has dried out on your. We're using part number 11755 from Lubrimatic. They're electrical contact grease. We'll just go ahead and smear it over the contacts and then let's go ahead and put our electrical connector back into place. Line it up, we'll push it in until it clicks. It'll be a slight click, you may or may not hear it. With everything connected up and installed, let's go ahead and give it a try. We'll go ahead and test our electrical using the 4-pole section here. Pull up the lid. Using my tester, I'm going to take a ground clamp, clamp it to the ground peg on the 4-pole here, and we'll go ahead and turn on the running light circuit. That one looks good. Let's go ahead and try the right turn. Then we'll try the left turn. That both works. Let's go ahead and hold the brake signal down. That'll give us a steady signal on these two pins. While we're holding the brakes down, we can also do the same thing on our 7-pole connector and check for the signals there. Try the running lights one more time. That'll finish it for the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Twist-Mount 7-Way and 4-Way Connector, part number HM40920 on this 2002 Chevrolet Silverado.

The twist-in socket has heavy-duty weatherproofing and features a cover that opens 180 degrees.Nice upgrade for a 2002 Escalade. It’s just so bulky I cannot fit a locking hitch pin anymore.
My original equipment had reached its life. This allowed me to get rid of a 4-way to 7-way connector.
Very pleased with etrailer, but product not as sturdy as original equipment.
did not arrive
They worked perfectly and I received them in shorter time than anticipated which kept my project in forward motion
This is the wrong wiring conector. Sent 40920 which is a twist lock. The one I need got the lock clips on the side. You just push in and it snaps in. Need dual 7 blade and 4 flat. What do you want me to do?
Easy installation. It took less than five minutes to install and it works great. I installed it on my 2004 Chevy 2500 HD.
Nice product. Kind of a sloppy fit for my factory 2005 Avalanche hitch though. The 7 pin connector doesn't pin out correct but the 4 pin does so I'll go with that.
I bought this to replace the OEM part. Fit in the original bracket no problem. Works great. Especially like the 7 way/4 way connectors. No need for an adapter.
Product worked well. A slight modification to gap. A small amount on file work and connector locked correctly. I am well pleased with product. The plug worked as described and delivery was timely.
Install was a breeze. I’ve used the 4 pin flat connector and it worked perfectly. No more adaptor for me.
I routinely tow a couple of different trailers. One has a 7 way connector, and another has a 4 way connector. I kept misplacing my 7 to 4 converter, so I purchased this as a direct replacement for my Yukon's factory connector. While it's nice to have the 7 way and 4 way there all the time, the plug fits a little bit loose in the factory socket. It should work fine, I just wish it fit in there tighter.
I bought this for a base model 09 Silverado. Twists in place by the license plate for a clean look, ease of use, and no more dangling pig tail. I bought this for the 4-pin to use with my boat. I’d recommend this to any and everyone with an 09 Silverado
Exactly what I wanted. Easy installation. Great service from etrailer! Would highly recommend this site!
Still functions as intended. The 4 way has been convenient because I don't need to carry an adapter anymore.
Easy plug and play, could be a little snugger fitting, but not a problem.
Recommend.
This connector was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted an "all in one unit" for my 7-way and flat 4 connections because of the problems associated with using a connector converter. This has worked out great.
Was delivered on time, quicker than we expected. Thank You!!
This was a perfect fit. I wish the website would have come up with this as the right one for my Suburban, and have notified them of this.
Went in easy and seems to be a perfect replacement for the broken one. As always, great customer serivice and a good product.
Great product !Fit my 2009 trailblazer perfect. Installed under a minute
Exactly what I need works perfectly for all types of trailer wiring. Perfect plug and play for my 2008 GMC Acadia.
A direct replacement for my truck. Only problem i encountered was the spring tang broke will i was test fitting the mount. I plan on purchasing another to put on my wife's Suburban. I'll be extra careful when I install that one.
This has been the easiest trailer receptacle to install & the best one I have used. It’s nice not having to use a 4 way adapter!
