Simple, straight forward wire to wire connection according to color. I cut the leads of the plug shorter so the shrink wrap would cover more of the outer insulation when heated to provide a better seal. It made it a bit tighter to crimp the connections, but worth it.

Traded camper for a new one in Sept., but it was still working fine.

Exactly what I needed to avoid an adapter. Excellent instructions and high quality connector.

by:

I used this to complete a wiring harness built from scratch.

by:

Used this part to replace a four flat plug on boat trailer. Wanted to eliminate having to use an adapter to go from four flat to seven blade on truck. My trailer has a wishbone setup for parking lights, therefore there were five wires going into four flat plug. I cut off four flat plug and wired by function (colors not standardized), from trailer to plug: white to white, yellow/brown and green/brown to green, yellow to red, green to brown. Added electrical tape to trailer end of heat shrink tubing as it did not shrink enough to form a tight seal around five small trailer wires. Served my purpose well.

by:

The Bargman 7-Pin Round Connector is extremely well built and appears to be very durable. The included butt connector hardware is very basic and isn't up to the level of quality of the connector itself, so I ended up using Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connectors in addition to the overall piece of heat shrink tubing provided. I will be using this on my double axle boat trailer that sees a good deal of saltwater exposure so I opted to go a little overkill on the water and corrosion protection. My 2015 Toyota only has the options for a 4-pin or 7-Pin, so after I encountered some issues with a Reese 5-Pin to 7-Pin converter I decided to make a permanent alteration, and this fit the bill perfectly. It took a bit of time to figure out the proper connections as none of the charts I found worked for my setup (2016 WESCO Aluminum Double Axle) so this is the combination that worked for me.

Blue – Yellow
Brown – Green

White – White

I was fortunate to be able to find this product on etrailer.com to replace a damaged 7-pole round connector on my RV. This is the last of several purchases from etrailer I have made of unusual or hard to find items. The service is excellent, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable, and the delivery is very fast. This is a quality product. I wanted a molded connector just like my original connector, not the plastic replacement usually found in stores and on-line.

by:

The part arrived very quickly. I was able to completed the installation of the part, but I have a suggestion for future orders of this part. The connectors for the 7 wires were for the most part too small for the thickness of the wires for easy insertion. I had to use my own connectors. Also the cover for the exposed wires that should shrink to form a tight cover when heated was quite thin and did not seal well, particularly on the ends where water could sleep in. . I had to go over its entire length with Gorilla tape.

by:

Another great product from eTrailer.com. Wired up with no problems. Works GREAT!

Great product that is easy to install and replaces factory part. The heat shrinking wrap provides a weatherproof barrier to the connections.

  • How To Replace a 5-Way Trailer Connector with 8 Wires Using a 7-Way Trailer Connector
I am not very familiar with a 5-way trailer connector that has 8 wires like what you have now but it should not be too much work to change this out. I would not be able to give a function for each wire so what you will need to do is apply a 12 volt charge from a battery to see which light illuminates. This will then let you know the functions so you can attach them to the Bargman 7-Pole Round Connector w/ Hardware part # 54-67-525. The brown wire with yellow stripe likely has the same...

  • Trailer Brakes Lock Up When Connected To Trailer Using 6 to 7 Pole Adapter
The issue you are having with the trailer brakes locking up as soon as the trailer connector is plugged in has to do with the pin out of the trailer side trailer connector in relation to the adapter. The most likely problem is that the battery charge line is crossed with the brake output circuit. In order to fix this you will simply need to just swap out the two wires on the back of the trailer side trailer connector or you can just rewire a new trailer connector on the trailer using the...

  • How To Power Electric Trailer Tongue Jack Through 7-Way
In order to power an electric trailer tongue jack using the 7-way trailer connector you would simply install a new trailer connector and attach the power wire from the jack to the battery charge line pin inside the trailer connector. If you go with the Bargman 7-Pole Round Connector w/ Hardware part # 54-67-525 which is what I recommend then just use the black wire. In regards to power a tailgate light bar at the rear of the trailer, you'll need to splice each of the wires into the circuits...

  • Can a 7-Way Blade Connector Be Used For Only The Trailer Brake Connections(No Lights)?
Yes, you can use a 7-way for only the 2 circuits if that is all that is required. The Bargman 7-Pole Round Connector # 54-67-525 has a 12 gauge blue wire that is the output for the brakes. The 10 gauge white wire is the ground wire for the 7-way connector. It is important that your trailer brakes are connected to these circuits to work properly in a 7-way female connector. The 2 wires coming from the trailer brakes are not labeled as positive and negative terminals so unless one of the...

  • Can Fog Lamps Used as Reverse Lights We Wired to 7-way Trailer Connector of 2020 Ram 1500
If you were wanting to power the fog/reverse lamps using a plug like # 54-67-525, you'd simply attach the ground wire from the lamp to the plug's white wire and the lamp power wire to the yellow wire on the plug. The lamp would power up with the reverse lamps, and none of the other connections on the plug would be needed. If you wanted a cleaner-looking solution that would leave the 7-way at the bumper free and not have the plug powering your fog lamps visible, I'd go with a T-Connector...

  • Electric Trailer Brakes Are Not Releasing
The humming sound you are hearing means that there is 12 volt power getting to the brakes and is normal. However, the brakes not releasing is, of course, irregular and what it means is that the 12 volt circuit and brake controller output circuit of the trailer have shorted together. This is possibly from a short on the trailer itself with an exposed wire, or there could also be corrosion on your trailer's 7-way. If so you can replace it with Bargman 7-Pole Round Connector # 54-67-525....

We actually put together a kit here to upgrade a trailer with a 4-way to a 7-way with the part # e99011. You'll cut off the 4-way you have on your trailer and wire it to this junction box which will then give you an active 7-way. Or if the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a 4-way as well you can use # HM48114. With either option it'll need to be wired by function. I've linked an article on trailer wiring that might be helpful.
