Excellent solution to prevent corrosion at the socket. Because these things live under bumpers they catch all the mud, water, etc. from your tires causing problems at the plug. This product is sealed and wiring can be done up and away from the bumper area. One downside is the wire colors do not directly match standard colors. There is a legend molded into the cover of the socket to go by. Once installed it is perfect.

I was rebuilding the trailer light wiring on my truck. It was old, and living in Northwestern Montana, was also rotting out. I originally purchased a Hopkins plug from a local auto parts. The metal pins rotted out within a week and the whole fixture would not seal. Hopkins blew me off when I made a warranty request. I went looking for a better sealed plug and found this Bargman plug. It's been installed for over a year, which includes a winter on Montana roads (chemicals, salt, sand...). No rotting of the metal contacts. No leaks in the housing. Has held up very well!

by:

Great! Fast delivery. The cable fit my truck with no drilling or modifications. High quality cable and wire. Better than came with the truck. I am very pleased with eTrailer.com.

After one year the product is still in great condition. I am still very happy with this product.

by:

It is my opinion you do a very good job shipping but when it gets 4 blocks from my house and sets at the Post Office for 2 days I wonder If something could be done

by:

This Connector seems like it is built very well. I like the fact that the harness is fully sealed from the elements.

After a year the product has held up great!!

by:

Once I figured out the goofy wiring colors the product worked great! Every other trailer I have uses the same wiring color scheme (I had thought it was a national standard), but this one is different. And I like the cap that says what each lug inside the plug is for.

by:

Good quality, works great! Used for my 5th wheel plug inside the pick up bed. Also used a junction box so I could also wire up for a bumper plug too.

by:

I purchased this for my old dually pickup so I could plug in my gooseneck trailer. It was just what I needed.
Thanks etrailer.

by:

Very well made. Used this on a Ford Econoline Church Bus. It was long enough to reach the factory trailer wire harness.

by:

Exactly as described - fast shipment

by:

Super sealed connector well be used inside of truck bed for 5th wheel trailer. Should work out well for the needed hookup.

by:

The 7-way sealed connector works. It eliminate connections between the wire and the block. Plus it gives you enough lead that you can put the wiring connection in a box.

by:

Constructed very well and strong. We are in the housemoving and raising business and use trailers everyday. The weather proof seal is ideal for keeping snow, mud, rain, and ice from corroding the wires. Very pleased!!!

by:

You rarely score a triple play in baseball, even less in business.

We got a great product, great price, and super fast service - triple play.

Thanks so much

Karl

by:

by:

Very high quality assembly. Like something "Made in the USA". Reasonably priced.

by:

Just what I was looking for in a replacement unit. Pre-wired makes for a quick install and it's virtually weather proof as well.

by:

The 7-Way Super Sealed Connector # 50-87-004 uses 14 gauge wires for lighting(yellow, green, brown and red) 10 gauge wire for power(white and black) and 12 gauge wiring for the brakes(blue) . We also have this harness available in a 7' length # 50-87-007 if you need more than the 4' the other harness gives you.

We do offer a watertight 7-way trailer connector setup with the EZ Connector Magnetic 7-Way Trailer Connectors w/ Watertight Seal # 319-R7-02 which installs in place of a standard trailer 7-way. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Mounting Dimensions Of The Bargman 7-Way Super Sealed Connector 50-87-004
I went to the warehouse and pulled a 7-Way Super Sealed Connector # 50-87-004 to measure. This connector provides 4 feet of cable, is 6" from the front edge of the trap door/cap back to where the cable flare ends. The mounting plate measures 3" x 3" on the outer edges. You will need a 2 inch hole in order to mount the Bargmann 7-Way Super Sealed Connector, # 50-87-004. I have attached a diagram which illustrates the exact measurements of the connector as well. • Compatibility of Optronics # A7WCB 7-Way Connector With # 50-87-004 Vehicle End Socket
You can indeed install the Optronics 7-way connector # A7WCB onto the Bargman # 50-87-004 Sealed connector. However, there is a connector loop like this that's already constructed, part # 20027. If you're wanting to use this item to install a 7-way connector in your truck bed for a fifth wheel, we offer T-Connectors like # 41157 that would plug inline with the truck wiring harness that feeds the 7-way connector on the bumper. Some of these are vehicle specific, so if you'd be interested...

You will run the Red wire to the positive terminal on your battery, but the white ground wire will connect to your trailer frame, just like the negative terminal of your battery does. • 2 Foot Long 6-Way Vehicle to 7-Way Trailer Connector Adapter
A 6-Way to 7-Way adapter is not all that common but we have a few. But they are not 2 feet long. The closest we have is # 47435 which end to end is around 12 inches but the wiring part between the 6 and 7-Ways is 6-1/2 inches long. What you could do is use # 50-87-004 which is 4 feet long but can be trimmed down to 2 feet. You would just need to add a trailer side 6-Way, # PK11604.

We do not offer a 10-foot replacement sealed vehicle 7-way like the part you referenced, part # 50-87-004, but we do have an easy and cost-effective way for you to construct the harness you need. You can use Deka Jacketed 7-Wire cable, part # DW04914-1, which is offered by the foot, along with a connector, Pollak # PK12-707E (please see linked video). The Bargman Silicone 7-Way Plug 54006-010 that you have is a standard style 7-way plug that the # 50-87-004 that you referenced is designed to fit. • Standard And traditional Wiring Configurations For 7-Way Trailer Connectors
There are traditional and standard wiring configurations and that can be frustrating when working with electrical connectors. We try to always remind customers to check wiring for function and not to rely on the color of the wires for that reason. The standard connectors are typically wired for fifth wheel and travel trailers and the traditional is typically used for utility and cargo trailers. I have attached a couple drawings that show the wiring configurations for standard, traditional,...

If you were to wire each of the tail light circuits on the 7-Way Super Sealed Connector part # 50-87-004 directly to a battery this would then illuminate the lights constantly. There is really no other option for this purpose, wiring each wire to the battery would be the only way.

The Pollak Trailer Connector Adapter # HM47425 that you referenced offers 7-1/2 inches between the 2 connectors, and is 14-1/2 inches long overall. This is the longest pre-wired 7-Pole round to 7-Way blade adapter that we offer. You can use individual connectors to wire together an adapter that will have as much room between the connectors as you need. • Wire Color Coding of Bargman 7-Way Super Sealed Vehicle Side Trailer Connector
The Bargman 7-Way Super Sealed Connector # 50-87-004 you received actually uses the standard wire coloring for camping trailers. The color code is labeled on the front of the 7-way's cap to try and make it easier. We always recommend to connect wires by function instead of by color since there are more than one standard and often times those are deviated from completely. I've attached a picture of an RV standard 7-way that's common on camping trailers and is what the # 50-87-004 uses.

If your tow vehicle has a 7-way at the bumper that uses a US-Style car connector, another option is to install a 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Harness in line by using the Curt # C56000.
