Video Transcript for Bargman 7-Way Molded Connector Review

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Bargman seven way molded trailer connector with a 15 foot cable. Also available in a 10, 18, and 22 feet length. Here's what our cable looks like installed. Now the main reason your going to need a new cable like this one is because if you didn't adequately have the slack tied up when your towing your trailer, it can drag on the ground, causing abrasion, causing a short and it won't work properly anymore.Hooking up to our tow vehicle is as simple as lifting our door, making sure the notch on our cable faces up to push it in. And then the latch on the door will grab the tab and hold it in place. So you don't have to worry about it getting pulled out.

Well, one thing that's nice about this connector, compared to others on the market, is that when we need to unplug from our truck, we have these nice finger tabs here to get an easy grip on it, as we pull out.Now one thing that sets this cable apart from others in the market, is where the end of our cable meets our seven way connector, right here. It's molded together. And this will prevent moisture from getting inside, offering a superior weather resistance, and we don't have to worry about corrosion happening where the wires are connected to our terminals inside the connector. This will cause better electrical performance over the course of time. This thick insulation will provide protection from the elements, and also will help protect it from abrasion if it we're to rub against something. Now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed.

We need to locate the junction box where our wiring connections are made. In our particular case, this is our junction box in our trailer. You'll typically find this near the front. Remove the lid. We'll now remove the nuts on all of our terminals, that hold our wires in place.

Now in our particular case, our factory seven way wire comes into the top here, and all the connections are these top connectors right here. So, we'll one at a time remove the terminals that cover up those wires, then remove those wires themselves and place back on the ones on the bottom that cover them up. This way, we can easily make our connection without becoming confused.Okay, now that we have all seven of our wires disconnected from the terminals on our junction box, we can pull those away, remove our grommet from those wires, you'll keep the grommet, then we'll remove the cable from the trailer. We've gone ahead and routed our new cable through the cable retainer on our frame, and we'll install the ends into our grommet. Okay, we installed our grommet back into our junction box, like the way it was originally.

Now we'll cut off the excess of our wires. Strip out the installation. And we'll crimp on new rain terminals which we have available on our website to each one of the wires. And we'll place them on to the corresponding stud where they belong. This blue wire here, that's for our electric trailer break output. So I'll put that one to the terminal that's label for our electric brakes. Next one's our green wire, and that one is for our tail lights. We'll do our brown wire next. That one's for our right turn signal. Your yellow wire next. That's for a reverse white output, or reverse yellow one for hydraulic trailer brakes, if your trailer had hydraulic brakes. Now we'll do a red wire. That one's for our left turn signal. Now we'll do our black wire. That's for our constant 12 volt power. That leaves us with the white wire. That's our ground wire. Now we'll reinstall all of our nuts. So, with all of our connections now made, we'll reinstall our cover. Now we'll test our our wiring by taking our plug and going into a tester. You can also plug it into the back of your truck. And we'll test out all of our functions. Now we'll start by turning our tail lights on. Okay, those are working good. Now we'll try our brake lights. Brake lights are working good. Do a right turn signal now. That's working good. Try out a left turn signal. That's working great. And that completes our look at and installation of the Bargman seven way molded trailer connector with a 15 foot cable, part number 50-67-103.

Prewired 7-way trailer end sealed connector with 15' of 7-way cable.

This is a Quality product . I needed a longer cable as mine was damaged when it got pinched in my hitch . Fast shipping as always top shelf parts from etrailer.

Working great very high quality

One year old and everything has held up well

Exactly as stated. Haven't wired the trailer yet. Wire color doesn't match the receptical but other than that looks well put together.

After figuring out wire colors testing each circuit all is well and works great
Roger F - 08/17/2019

This was exactly what I needed to fit my snowmobile trailer. I have one of your connector boxes up high on the wall and this was a great length to go from the truck to the box without splicing the wires. It is a great quality electrical connector as well.

I ordered several items to fix a trailer that had a previous shade tree mechanic fix. Items came quickly and were affordable. Website is very easy to navigate. I like to do things one time. Etrailer allows me to do just that with their expansive inventory. I have ordered several times and will continue to do so.

This plug connection was extremely well made. I prefer the removable head style to be able to fix wire issues but this seems to be very well made and stout. Wires were heavier than factory and the casing was much thicker.

Nice plug but just would not push on to any of the four plugs I have cord is pretty stiff and is going to be worse in the winter, only one they had with fifteen feet of cable should have just sent it back

What’s with the wire colors?? I mean really ring out this cable before you use it. All the wire colors are not the standard trailer colors. Almost found out the hard way. Other than that great cable.

Thanks for the follow up Matthew. I am very glad that you tested and confirmed functions, which is what we recommend. I have confirmed with my contacts at Bargman and this wiring harness has the traditional RV wiring configuration. For this the colors and functions are as follows: Black is 12V power, Green is Tail and Running lights, Red is Left turn and Stop, White is Ground, Blue is Brake controller output, Brown is right turn and Stop. I have included a link below for your reference to one of our help articles.

  • Material of Bargman Wiring Conductors
The 7-Way Molded Connector w/ 15' Cable - Trailer End # 50-67-103 uses copper connectors. My contact said the molded connectors from Bargman don't have any aluminum and are not tinned. They are simply copper conductors not CCA or copper tinned.

  • Solution for Needing 12 Foot Long 7-Way Extension
While there is a bit of variance between the color standards for how 7-way trailer connectors are wired the actual pin of the 7-way is the same regardless of what style you have. The two common ones are traditional and RV which I attached a picture of that shows the two color setups. You can see that the colors might be different but the pin outs of the two connectors are the same. So since we don't have a 12 foot long plug and lead the 15 foot plug and lead part # 50-67-103 that you...

  • Recommended 7-Way Connector For 2013 Forest River 300BH
I recommended the 7-Way Molded Connector w/ 15' Cable - Trailer End # 50-67-103 which will replace the 7-way connector on your 2013 Forest River 300BH but it is a little longer than you were needing. You can cut the extra wire off to get the exact length you are needing. The color of wiring is not standardized, but the yellow wire is the center pin and while it is typically used for reverse lights it can be used for any other function you need as long as the wiring on your tow vehicle...

  • Recommended 7-Way Extension With Trailer End Connectors for Cab Over Camper on 2022 Silverado 2500
As far as I know that is not something that is normal for an older camper. More than likely the blue wire has taken the place of the yellow wire for some reason since you have no need for a brake controller. The 7-way connection in the bed of your 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 is designed for 5th wheel/gooseneck towing so that is the reason why it is located there. In order to connect the 7-way on your vehicle to the camper you need wiring with two trailer end connectors on it like the...

  • Recommended Molded Trailer 7-Way Connection With 12 to 15 Foot Wire Length
For your trailer wiring, I recommend the Bargman 7-Way with 12' Long Coiled Cable # WG54006-046 or the 7-Way Molded Connector w/ 15' Cable # 50-67-103. These both will hold up well to wear and the protective insulation will handle normal use abrasions very well. Either of these will hold up well to cold weather use so you can do all the snowmobiling you desire without concern of your trailer connections working properly.

  • 12 Foot Long Wiring Harness to Go From RV to Towed Truck Using a Roadmaster Sterling Tow Bar
I think I have something that will work for you. Take a look at 7-Way connector # 50-67-103, It is 15 feet long and uses a combination of 10, 12, and 14 gauge wire. The 12 volt circuit and ground wires are 10 gauge, what would be the brake output wire uses 12 gauge and the lights use 14. This is more than adequate for flat towing.

When it comes to replacing your trailer wiring on your 16 foot trailer I recommend The 7-Way Molded Connector w/ 15 foot Cable - Trailer End # 50-67-103 will work. It is 15 foot and the wire gauges are as followed: Black/White - 10 Gauge Blue - 12 Gauge Yellow/Green/Red/Brown - 14 Gauge To make the wiring easier I would also recommend The Trailer Wiring Junction Box # 38656. This terminal junction box lets you easily connect your trailer wiring to your 7 way trailer connector. The Ring...

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Drum Brakes to a Trailer
The first thing you need to do is check the trailer axle to see if it has brake mounting flanges. It will look like the square part welded onto # TRU74FR. If the trailer does not have those they will need to be added by a professional with experience in welding on brake flanges because it is a precision job.
