Video Transcript for Feature Review 7-Way Molded Connector w/ 10' Cable

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Bargman seven way molded trailer connector with a 15 foot cable. Also available in a 10, 18, and 22 feet length. Here's what our cable looks like installed. Now the main reason your going to need a new cable like this one is because if you didn't adequately have the slack tied up when your towing your trailer, it can drag on the ground, causing abrasion, causing a short and it won't work properly anymore.Hooking up to our tow vehicle is as simple as lifting our door, making sure the notch on our cable faces up to push it in. And then the latch on the door will grab the tab and hold it in place. So you don't have to worry about it getting pulled out.

Well, one thing that's nice about this connector, compared to others on the market, is that when we need to unplug from our truck, we have these nice finger tabs here to get an easy grip on it, as we pull out.Now one thing that sets this cable apart from others in the market, is where the end of our cable meets our seven way connector, right here. It's molded together. And this will prevent moisture from getting inside, offering a superior weather resistance, and we don't have to worry about corrosion happening where the wires are connected to our terminals inside the connector. This will cause better electrical performance over the course of time. This thick insulation will provide protection from the elements, and also will help protect it from abrasion if it we're to rub against something. Now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed.

We need to locate the junction box where our wiring connections are made. In our particular case, this is our junction box in our trailer. You'll typically find this near the front. Remove the lid. We'll now remove the nuts on all of our terminals, that hold our wires in place.

Now in our particular case, our factory seven way wire comes into the top here, and all the connections are these top connectors right here. So, we'll one at a time remove the terminals that cover up those wires, then remove those wires themselves and place back on the ones on the bottom that cover them up. This way, we can easily make our connection without becoming confused.Okay, now that we have all seven of our wires disconnected from the terminals on our junction box, we can pull those away, remove our grommet from those wires, you'll keep the grommet, then we'll remove the cable from the trailer. We've gone ahead and routed our new cable through the cable retainer on our frame, and we'll install the ends into our grommet. Okay, we installed our grommet back into our junction box, like the way it was originally.

Now we'll cut off the excess of our wires. Strip out the installation. And we'll crimp on new rain terminals which we have available on our website to each one of the wires. And we'll place them on to the corresponding stud where they belong. This blue wire here, that's for our electric trailer break output. So I'll put that one to the terminal that's label for our electric brakes. Next one's our green wire, and that one is for our tail lights. We'll do our brown wire next. That one's for our right turn signal. Your yellow wire next. That's for a reverse white output, or reverse yellow one for hydraulic trailer brakes, if your trailer had hydraulic brakes. Now we'll do a red wire. That one's for our left turn signal. Now we'll do our black wire. That's for our constant 12 volt power. That leaves us with the white wire. That's our ground wire. Now we'll reinstall all of our nuts. So, with all of our connections now made, we'll reinstall our cover. Now we'll test our our wiring by taking our plug and going into a tester. You can also plug it into the back of your truck. And we'll test out all of our functions. Now we'll start by turning our tail lights on. Okay, those are working good. Now we'll try our brake lights. Brake lights are working good. Do a right turn signal now. That's working good. Try out a left turn signal. That's working great. And that completes our look at and installation of the Bargman seven way molded trailer connector with a 15 foot cable, part number 50-67-103.

The product was just what I needed, all of the other Cables were only 7 ft, this cable is 10 ft, so no worries on the plug coming out during tight turns.

CAUTION: USE AN OHM METER AND CHECK FOR PROPER WIRE COLOR TO CONNECTOR PINS BEFORE YOU INSTALL THIS! Some yahoo mixed up the wire connections inside the molded connector. Red is where yellow should be. Yellow is where red should be.Green is where brown should be. Brown is where green should be. This is not a huge problem because these 4 wires are all 14awg. Just make sure you check for proper wire color to pin orientation!

This is an older color pattern that some Bargman and Hopkins products still use. We would like to see them some day update and get these products on the current color code.

I've had this harness for a year now. Over the past year we've traveled from South Carolina to Maine, down to Georgia and up to Maine again, with many stops along the way. It's worked fine.

by:

The product was exactly what I had hoped for, a high quality exact replacement for the one that I had that was 17 years old. It arrived when it was supposed to and was easy to install.

by:

Quality product, reliable shipping. Will continue doing business with them.

by:

As described. Got this one because of the design of the connectors as I’m troubleshooting an issue with wiring. Colors matched the rv-style one I took off my camper. The moulded plug housing is a little shorter than the one that came on the camper so it doesn’t fit in the little storage thing the same way. Functionally seems great.

by:

I upgraded my trailer from hydraulic to electric brakes and rewired everything to neaten and freshen up things. Its a nice piece. I recommend.

took to long to receive

prompt cost effective shipping

It was just what I was wanting

Exactly what I was looking for. My old cable was only 8' long and would barely reach using it with an equalizer hitch on my Airstream. This was the original brand, just longer.

Still works great after a year. Nice to have the extra length when using an equalizing hitch.

by:

Great product.... reason for changing installed a battery in my cargo trailer which would charge of my truck. This would eliminate leaving my trailer plugged into my truck draining the battery when my interior lights were on in the trailer for periods of a time. It was easier to cut and splice in new harness. Make sure you get the correct length. Also went to a seven pin direct connect to truck rather than using adapter from seven to four pin to match trailer plug..... again great product.

by:

Excellent and well made part.

I
replaced the electrical tape wrapped, spliced old connection from my trailer with this high quality part.

Still going strong, could not be happier.

I've purchased at least 12 of these harnesses for the many trailers I and my sons have. This is a great product

Everything is great. The wire harnesses and components all are in good condition.

I purchased a renovated 1965 Friendship Vacationaire and I had problems with the wiring not working properly. The electric brakes said that I had a short circuit so I decided to replace the wiring harness from the trailer back. Now the problems are gone and I'm once again a happy camper.

by:

The product was shipped quickly, although I had a few delays in getting it all hooked up. I am using this pigtail to connect from my 2019 Ram 3500 to a slide in truck camper using a 7 pin connector. It was helpful to have the color coding wire table to assist me.

by:

The product had to be back order; it actually arrived several days sooner then the original estimated delivery date. George J. kept me well informed with status e-mails which I appreciated. I was very pleased with the quality of the 7 way connector cable. Every bit the same quality as what came original on our travel trailer. An outstanding and helpful bonus provided are your how to DIY videos. You guys got customer service well in hand!
Thank You....

The Bargman molded 7 way trailer harness has been used a lot as the trailer is used frequently. The harness has held up well during the year we have had it and the elements have not affected it.

by:

We would like to thank James for the help on the cord we needed for our fifth wheel, and the extra help getting it here very fast. We have ordered several items from etrailer and they are always very helpful and get our orders out fast and always have excellent choices and prices. Thank you. Terri

This is a very good trailer pigtail. It has metal sprung contacts that maintains contact very well. Other pigtails use rubber to make the contacts stay connected and it melts and losses contact. This is truly the best molded trailer plug.

by:

Great wiring, great insulation - seems to be well built. Bought this to rewire my CDN-M101 off road trailer and it worked perfectly. It has been one year and is holding up like new.

by:

I needed a longer boat trailer lighting pigtail to fit my new truck.
Went from a 8’ to 10’ Bargman 7
Fast service and turn around.
I noticed that after I purchased my product, the price went down.
I contacted customer service to get a price match.
They were more than happy to refund the difference because I asked.
I am always pleased when ordering from etrailer.

Used this to replace a damaged connector on a horse trailer. Worked really well, and was easy to connect to the existing wires. No issues after everything was soldered and marine wrapped.

  • 10 Long 7-Way Cable With Double Ended Trailer End Connectors
I have a couple options for you as we do not have a double ended 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector in a 10' length. First you can take a 7-Way Molded Connector w/ 10' Cable # 50-67-005 and add a 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector # A7WCB. Or you can connect 2 Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Connector w/ Molded Cables # HM20086 together if you prefer to have the molded and sealed ends.
