Video Transcript for Fulton Trailer Winch - Electric Winch - F500620 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Fulton XLT Powered Marine Winch. This winch is designed for boats up to 20 feet long and with a weight of up to 7,000 pounds. It makes loading and unloading your boat quick and easy. The winch comes with a wireless remote, which is located right here, has a transmission distance of 50 to 90 feet depending on the environment, and it comes pre-programmed and ready for use. Battery is included, so it's literally ready to go right out of the packaging. The strap right here, this is included, this is your winch strap. This does feature a nice swiveling hook design to prevent the strap from twisting.

That strap measures two inches wide by 15 feet long. They also have the safety latch mechanism to prevent accidents on disconnecting. The strap runs out of this guide right here, so it comes with a three position guide to keep the strap protected as it goes in and out of the winch. You can change the position to best suit your application and ensure that the line is at the angle you need.Wiring is very easy on this system, it's already pre-wired. It comes with your black wire and your red wire, with the ring terminals already connected.

One gets connected to the positive post of a 12 volt battery, the other one gets connected to the negative post of a 12 volt battery for power. It features a 160 amp circuit breaker. It also features a mechanical break that holds the load as soon as you let off the buttons. The clutch is located right here. This is a two position clutch. You have your engaged position, which allows you to bring the line in or extend it out, and then you can easily rotate it by hand and move it to free spool position, which allows you to extend the line out quickly and easily. The winch also features a manual override on this side here, so if you take this dust cap and pull it down, it's got a little slot there.

You can use a standard tool to operate the manual override, you'll just need a small socket and a ratchet. That's great in case of power loss.Keep in mind, this winch is designed for marine applications. It features a corrosion resistant design. The controls on the winch are easy to access and operate, located right here. You have the toggle switch here that brings your line or extends it out, and then you have this button right here which controls the LED lighting. There is an LED light located on the back and the bottom.

I'll show you that here in a moment. There is one located on the back and the bottom of the winch to help in low light or nighttime conditions. The winch also features an easy install system. It uses a T-slot mounting design to really fit any winch stand out there. Installation hardware is included. This metal mounting plate, steel construction with powder coating on it, this measures 9 inches wide by 8.5 inches long. The overall measurements of the winch side-to-side, I took a measurement and got around 14 inches. Front-to-back I got a measurement of around 9 5/8ths. Bottom-to-top was about 6.5 inches.I want to go ahead and hook it up to power because I want to show you some of the really neat features of the unit. I'll operate it for you, I'll show you the LED lighting. This sends out a bright consistent signal. Again, it's designed to illuminate the area around where it's mounted, so that way you can still see what you're doing in low light or nighttime conditions. You have the LED light on the back and the bottom. It's a great feature to have. You can control that using the switch. Then real quick, I want to go over the remote. It should be paired, I have not turned it on yet. To turn it on, you hold down the power button and a blue light will appear. If that was flashing, that would mean that we're not paired, but since it's solid, that means that we are paired and we're ready to go. I can control my LED lighting at the push of a button.I can also extend my line out, and easily bring it back in. Also, I got my free spool mode right here. No sound at all. That allows me to bring the line out as needed, move it to the engaged position, and I can bring it back in.I have all of those controls right here on the winch itself as well. It's a really nice winch, nice sleek design. When you're ready to turn the remote off, you just hold the power button until the blue light goes off. That's going to save your battery. Very comfortable and feel very confident when using this winch. That's going to do it for today's look at the Fulton XLT Powered Marine Winch. Again, this winch is designed for boats up to 20 feet long, and with a weight of up to 7,000 pounds.

Item was everything as described. I opted to install a battery on the trailer due to the fact I use two different vehicles. I have a 1650 Lund with a 50hp Honda outboard. This system works great. I usually retrieve my boat at a state boat launch located on the Saint Clair River (MI) which always has a 2-4 mph current and add a little wind and hand cranking up on the trailer by myself became very difficult. Now I can hook the strap and wind it up while standing on the dock guiding the boat with my foot. This works so slick many times I wind up with an audience! Product video was spot on also. 645019

Beware of this winch quality and the warranty of returns of it. Strap broke with less than one week of use and now etrailer does not want to receive it back. I bought a manual winch to be able of taking out my boat from the water. Now, I have to keep both and deal with warranty manufacturer to see if it is cover. Very disappointed! 621830

I got my new Fulton XLT and installed a battery pack along with wiring to charge the battery while driving to my favorite river or lake. Unit works extremely well and I am 100% sold on this unit. The ease of operation is second to none. Thank You, George, for talking me into this unit. You come to Arkansas, give me a holler and I'll show you how to catch some big Catfish. 515614

The install on this product was easy. I chose to install directly to a battery I installed on the trailer. Looks great but need to see how well it works yet. Off to the Gulf for some fun. It is a 20foot Sweetwater pontoon boat. 549299

Ask the Experts about this Fulton Trailer Winch
Do you have a question about this Trailer Winch?

  • Is There a Boat Winch With a Wireless Remote
  • There is a way to get a boat winch with a wireless remote, though the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Trailer Winch # TW4015 you referenced comes with a handheld remote and there isn't an option for a wireless remote with this particular winch. I recommend checking out the Fulton XLT Powered Winch with Rugged Strap # F500620 (7,000 lb capacity) or # F500621 (10,000 lb capacity), each of which comes with a wireless remote so it will be easy to use. Just note the strap on these winches...

  • Maximum Strap Length on Fulton XLT Powered 10K Winch with Rugged Strap F500621
  • Fulton's XLT Powered 10K Winch with Rugged Strap # F500621 has a 15-foot strap factory installed as does the 7K rated winch model # F500620. This is the longest strap that will fit on these winches. The similar Dutton-Lainson StrongArm 9K Electric Winch # DL25215 includes a 20-foot strap and will use less battery power than the Fulton. The Fulton # F500621 will draw up to 200-amps at maximum load while the Dutton-Lainson draws only 70-amps. Bulldog Winch item # BDW15020 includes a...

  • Could Fulton XLT Electric Winch be Wired Up with 8 or 6 Gauge Wire
  • You could use 8 or 6 gauge wire when connecting to the Fulton XLT Powered Winch part # F500621. The winch has 10 gauge wire but going with a thicker wire than that would not hurt anything. While the 10k winch mentioned and the 7k version part # F500620 have casings that look very similar the insides are very different. They are not the same winch just with a higher price. The higher rated winch has a more powerful motor.

  • Will Fulton XLT Power Winch Fit Same Mount as Fulton F2 Hand Winch
  • Yes, if you have a Fulton F2 winch on your boat trailer currently the Fulton XLT 7k power winch part # F500620 or the 10k power winch part # F500621 would fit the same mount you have on your trailer. These winches are designed to fit the standard winch mounting brackets.

  • Can the Fulton XLT Powered Winch be Used for Lifting
  • According to the owner's manual for the Fulton XLT Powered Winch part # F500620, "Do not use the winch as a lifting device or a hoist for vertical lifting." Therefore, the Fulton XLT Powered Winch does not have a lift capacity as this is not its intended purpose. Instead, you would want to take a look at a hoist/crane winch like the Buffalo Tools Electric Hoist part # BTEHOISTUL which has a 440 lb lift capacity. This winch has a power in/out feature and it has a built-in full load mechanical...

  • Recommended Electric Winch for Wheelchair Loading
  • For your electric winch, I recommend the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Trailer Winch - Marine - 1,500 lbs # TW4015 which has a corded remote, or the Fulton XLT Powered Winch with Rugged Strap - 7,000 lbs # F500620 which has a wireless remote. These winches are more than enough power for your application and have enclosed housing to help prevent wear and keep your interior clean. The strap will help to keep your vehicle carpet and interior free from snags. If you prefer a wire to...

  • How Long is the Wire on the Fulton XLT 7K Winch and Wiring Needed to Connect to Vehicle Battery
  • The cables on the Fulton XLT Powered Winch # F500620 are about 67" long. Since you are wanting to run this off of the vehicle battery you will need larger gauge wire but but only from the vehicle battery to a quick disconnect like the Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set # BDW20133. You would then need enough 2 gauge wire to reach from your vehicle battery to the rear of your vehicle. We have the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20207 which comes with the quick disconnects, wiring, and zip...

  • Can Fulton XLT Powered Winch # F500620 be Used for 26 Lyman Wooden Boat
  • In the boat industry a lot of times boat length can give a lot of info about the boat itself. For a winch though it is more about the weight off the boat. In general a 20' boat would be the most that the Fulton XLT Powered Winch # F500620 could handle but it isn't a hard and fast rule. As long as your boat doesn't exceed the 7,000 lb weight capacity of this winch then you can use it for your 26' Lyman wood boat. Please note that your bunks do play a part in how much weight you need to...

  • Does Fulton Power Winch Need Mounting Bracket and Swivel Hook for Dutton Lainson Winch
  • The Fulton XLT Powered Winch # F500620 and # F500621 require a winch stand or mounting bracket, as do all winches, including the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Trailer Winch - Marine - 1,500 lbs # TW4015 you asked about. For the StrongArm you can use the Dutton-Lainson Mounting Adapter Plate for StrongArm Electric Winches # DL24055 if you have a narrow winch stand or the Dutton-Lainson Angle Mounting Plate for StrongArm Electric Winches # DL24059 if your stand is at an angle. • How To Install an Electric Winch On a Lund Boat Trailer
  • The Fulton XLT Powered Winch part # F500620 comes with a 15' long strap that is sufficient for use on boats up to 20' long. According to my research, your 2018 Lund 1875 Impact is just under 19' so this winch should be perfect for you in regards to length. The strap cannot be replaced with a longer option but this should not be needed anyhow. If you do need a longer strap then you would want to use the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Winch part # DL25200 instead as it comes with a 20'...

  • Recommended Boat Trailer Winch for 9,000 lb Boat
  • Thank you for all that information and while I can understand not wanting to go with an electric winch for a boat trailer, the issue is the weight of your boat as well as the fact you are using bunks and have a steep incline. Even if you had a very short winching distance without much incline and were using rollers, the hand winch that has the most capacity, the 3,700 lb Fulton High-Performance 2-Speed Trailer Winch with Handbrake # F142430, would be pushing it because each layer of the...

  • Is Strap in Fulton XLT Powered Winch # F500620 Really Long Enough for a 20 Feet Boat
  • The strap in the Fulton XLT Powered Winch # F500620 is indeed 15 feet long. While the ideal boat length would be up 20 feet there are other things that factor into that including the length of the trailer, specifically the distance from where the winch is mounted to the end of the trailer. It just depends on the application so you would have to determine if 15 feet is enough for your set up or if you need something with a longer strap. • Can Strap of Fulton XLT Powered Winch be Replaced
  • Yes, you can replace the strap of the Fulton XLT Powered Winch # F500620; I have added a diagram from the instructions which explain how to replace the strap. The winch uses a 2" wide strap and I recommend the 12' Long Personal Water Craft Trailer Winch Strap # DL24291. • Dutton Lainson or Fulton Powered Boat Trailer Jack Recommendation
  • For a boat that weighs 2,500 lbs the Dutton Lainson TW4000 part # DL25200 would be the most appropriate choice. The Fulton # F500620 has a 7,000 lb capacity and would work great but would be quite a bit more than you'd need. The DL is a very popular option with our customers and it's been reviewed highly so I would recommend it for you.

  • Can Fulton XLT Powered Winch # F500620 be Used for 24 Foot Long Pontoon Boat
  • Electric winches like the Fulton XLT Powered Winch # F500620 take all of the work out of winching in a boat at a boat ramp. Basically you just have to connect the strap and press a button and you're good. This would have more than enough capacity for a 24 foot long pontoon as well. Since this winch will pull up to 160 amps you'll need to install a deep cell battery on your trailer as your trailer wiring connector power source will not be strong enough.

  • Can Fulton XLT Powered Winch Attach to Suntracker Pontoon Trailer
  • Yes, you will need to have a winch mounting plate of some type on your trailer to be able to install the Fulton XLT Powered Winch with Rugged Strap # F500620 that you referenced. I looked up pictures of your Suntracker Pontoon trailer and they all have a standard hand winch attached to them. You can use the current winch plate to attach this electric winch to.

  • Advantage Fulton XLT 7.0 Power Winch Has Over Dutton Lainson 9000 DC
  • The big advantage for your situation that the Fulton XLT 7.0 part # F500620 has is that it does not have a recommended cool down phase after powering in like the Dutton Lainnson does. The only time you have to let the winch cool down is if you use the "power out" function as this drives the motor of the winch against the brake of the winch which is similar to driving a car with the parking brake on. If the winch powers out 25 feet you have to let it cool down for 15 minutes. The solution...

  • Will Fulton XLT Power Winch part # F500620 Work Well With Parker 21SE Boat
  • The Fulton XLT Power Winch part # F500620 that you referenced would work great with your Parker 21SE. I looked up the dry weight of your boat and that figure is 3,200 lbs so a 7k rated winch like this would easily work great. Your boat is also 21 feet in length so this would be close enough in that regard as well. The strap length of the winch is 15 feet so you'd need to get your boat's bow eye at least 15 feet away from the jack mount which shouldn't be a problem at all.
