Today we'll be reviewing Part Number DL15801. This is the Dutton Lainson Heavy-Duty Brake Winch rated at 1,200 pounds. It's made from extra heavy-duty construction and has this nice enclosed area that keeps the braking mechanism nice and protected. We have the wheel hub here that's coated in a nice black powder coat finish so it's going to help it stand up well against the elements. It's going to give us a diameter of 2-1/2". The convenience of having a brake winch is that it helps lock loads into place. So as we're bringing in a load and we let go of the handle, we don't have to worry about it rolling away from us or taking the cable from our spindle or our hub. It's going to hold it in place, and it's also not going to allow the handle to rotate. So it's going to add safety when we're manuevering around our winch. This system does require a 75-pound minimum load to ensure that your winch is working properly. The rest of the unit has a nice zinc Tuffplate finish on it so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. The handle is included.
And if we take a measurement from the center of where it mounts to the end of the handle, we're going to get a measurement of about 12-3/4". Now this system has a 4:1 gear ratio. So for every four full turns of our handle, our hub is going to complete one full rotation. And it's really simple to use. I'm actually going to flip it up here on its side just so you can see how it functions. If we rotate it this way and you hear that clicking noise, that indicates that everything is working as it should and it's bringing the line in.
If we need to gain some slack in the cable, we can just simply rotate it back the other way and bring the line back out. This is designed for use with a cable, and our hub will accommodate a cable up to 46' in length by 7/32" in width or thickness. Here on the bottom you can see that it does have the three drilled bolt holes for an easy bolt-on installation. Our mounting plate is going to measure 6"x3-3/4". The elongated hole is going to measure 1-5/8"x 3/8". And then these three holes are identical, and they are going to give us a diameter of 3/8". One of the other things I wanted to show you real quick is this does have a cable catch or a cable hold, and I already installed that. You can feed your cable out through one of these holes on the spindle, wrap it around that cable catch and then tighten it down using the lock nut ...
It's a locking phlange 00:02:52 nut that we can tighten down. And what that's going to do is going to hold one end of our cable secure, that way when we're tightening the rest of the cable up, we don't have to worry about the end coming detached and causing a mess. It's going to hold it nice just right out there so that way we can always access it. And it's just going to make rowing our line in a little bit simpler. That's going to complete today's review of Part Number DL15801. This is the Dutton Lainson Heavy-Duty Brake Winch rated at 1,200 pounds.

This Dutton-Lainson industrial winch is designed for standard-duty vertical lifting operations. Crank handle clockwise to lift the load, counter-clockwise to lower the load. Automatic brake stops the load when hand cranking stops.I needed a high quality hand winch for my farm grain auger. It needs to be well made, from good material, to be safe for those operating the winch which lifts a heavy load high in the air. I researched winches on the internet, and learned that Dutton-Lainson has been making winches in America for many years. I was impressed with what I saw on their videos and descriptions. Their hand winches are available from various suppliers, but etrailer.com had by far the best price that I found. I added to my order a bolt-in valve stem . Shipping from etrailer.com was very prompt, and the products I ordered met my expectations. I am more than satisfied with their service and pricing.
in certain moments to be quick and precise at the same time is important, and with etrailer.com it did work like that, thanks
it is why i go to etrailer first when i need a part. excellent parts and service. who could ask for any thing more.
Fixed my jetski winch affordably . Couldn't seem to get the original hand wheel back on (no mention of it in the directions) so I gave up and used the crank included. Looks OK but I would still like to get the wheel working.
Very fast shipping, but the delivery was a day later than advertised (USPS). The product is excellent!
I will buy from etrailer again
Works well its on a shore station. Should of read further and bought one you could add a wheel to it.
Just what I needed.
Thanks,
