This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your RV or trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change the flat for you. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year from anywhere in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
This tire has a 1-year No Excuses Guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way that's not covered by warranty, it will be replaced at no charge. You will also be compensated a flat labor rate for the cost of mounting the replacement tire.
This aluminum wheel comes with steel inserts in the lug nut wells. The inserts are pressed into the aluminum, and they help prevent the holes from wearing down over time. This ensures that the wheel stays secured to your trailer hub and that you won't have to constantly retorque the lug nuts.
This radial ply tire from Westlake is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.
The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Westlake ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire in a load range E and it's mounted on this 16 inch glossy black Margay aluminum wheel with the eight on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now this tire wheel assembly's ideal for RVs, campers, and trailers. The wheel itself is an aluminum wheel. It's very durable, lightweight, and rust proof. And we mentioned the design of it.
It's the Margay series, which is an eight spoke design. And you can see it's a glossy black finish, but if you look, they do a machine face on the edge of the spokes and all the way around on the lip, gives a nice shine to the wheel. They do use an automotive grade clear coat finish on the front, help protect the wheel from scuffs and scratches. Now one of the nice features I like on this wheel is they use the steel inserts in the lug nut wells here, and they do that to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub. Basically when you install this on the hub, put this over the wheel studs, put your lug nut in or on there and when you torque it down, these inserts will prevent those holes from elongating or wearing down.
So eliminates the need for constant retightening of your lug nuts. Few dimensions on the wheel, the diameter 16 inches, width on just the wheel six inches wide. Now the bolt pattern on this wheel is an eight on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, it's pretty simple because the lug holes you can see are directly across from each other. So all you have to do is pick one of the holes.
Let's say this one here. Measure from the center of this hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. So it'll measure 6 1/2 inches. So that means this has an eight on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. It will use a wheel lug size of either a half inch by 20 or 9/16 by 18.
The weight capacity on just the wheel is 4,080 pounds. Now if you notice, this wheel does not come with a center cap. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately. So you do want to get a center cap that has the same diameter as this pilot hole here. 'Cause when you install that center cap, it'll go through this hole. The diameter of the pilot hole is 4.9 inches. Now the tire that's mounted on this, it's a Westlake radial tire, so it is constructed with double steel belts, double nylon ply, and then they use a nylon tread firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation. And it is a radial ply tire, so it is great for highway use. Also, this tire is an ST tire, which stands for special trailer tire, has a sturdy sidewall so it can handle heavy loads and it is created specifically for trailers. It's not intended for use on other vehicles. Now the tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, right here, you'll see ST for special trailer 235/80R16. The R means it's a radial. Section width 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated, it's 30.8 inches. And we mentioned this tire is a load range E, which means it's a 10 ply rated tire. So it has a maximum load capacity of 3,520 pounds at 80 PSI. And this assembly will meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications. Also wanted to mention this tire does come with a speed rating on it and it is labeled on the sidewall, but it is a letter designation. And where you'll find that is right after the tire size, you'll see two numbers for the load index and then the letter L. Speed rating L will mean 75 mile per hour speed rating. And they do offer complimentary roadside assistance for two years and flat tire services available 24/7 anywhere in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico. But that's gonna do it for a look at this Westlake ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire in the load range E mounted on this 16 inch glossy black Margay aluminum wheel with the eight on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern.
