Lionshead Roadside Assistance Program

This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your RV or trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change the flat for you. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year from anywhere in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico.

1-Year No Excuses Guarantee

This tire has a 1-year No Excuses Guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way that's not covered by warranty, it will be replaced at no charge. You will also be compensated a flat labor rate for the cost of mounting the replacement tire.

The Nitrogen Advantage

Nitro Fill Logo

The NitroFill inflation process filters out oxygen to ensure that this tire-and-wheel assembly is filled with 95 to 99.9 percent pure nitrogen. Nitrogen-inflated tires maintain pressure better than tires inflated with standard air. This makes them ideal for RVs and trailers that are driven infrequently or sit in storage for long periods of time. Other benefits of consistent tire pressure are better fuel economy, improved braking and handling, decreased chance of tire failure, and longer tire life.

A tire inflated with standard air, which contains oxygen, is prone to fluctuations in pressure due to loss of air over time and ambient temperature changes. Nitrogen-inflated tires don't experience these fluctuations for a couple reasons. First, nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen molecules, so they are less likely to permeate a rubber tire. Second, nitrogen is a dry gas, so it won't allow condensation to build inside the tire. A tire inflated with standard air may have moisture in it, which means it is more likely to be affected by ambient temperature.

In addition, the moisture that can collect in a tire inflated with standard air will contribute to corrosion of the wheel and deterioration of the rubber tire from the inside out. A nitrogen-inflated tire-and-wheel assembly is less likely to experience this type of decay. Less moisture in the tire also means reduced running temperatures.

If necessary, you can top off the tire with standard compressed air. But to maintain the benefits of nitrogen, the tire must be refilled with nitrogen.

Beveled Stud Holes

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The stud holes on this steel wheel are beveled to ensure that the wheel stays tight against your trailer hub. This also eliminates the need to constantly retorque the lug nuts.

Westlake Radials

This radial ply tire from Westlake is constructed with double steel belts and cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Westlake Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - LHAX133 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Westlake ST235 85R16 radial trailer tire in a load range G. This is on a 16" silver modular trailer wheel with a 8 on 6 1/2" bolt pattern. This tire and wheel assembly is idea for RVs, campers and trailers. The modular steel wheel . When they say "modular" the design is the one that has the round holes. That's the modular design.

It has a nice silver eco finish on it on the front and even on the back of the wheel. It's very sturdy and rust resistant. The tire is a Westlake radial tire which is made of high quality rubber that's reinforced by layers of steel and polyester belts. It is great for highway use. The tread design maximizes road contact and traction. They do use a nylon overlay on the tire to help prevent tread separation.

They even use tread-wear indicators like you see on your passenger car tires. Basically, if you look on the shoulder you see "TWI" and then "TWI' again, ever so often there's "TWI" for tread-wear indicator. What that means is, right where it's located on the shoulder, if you go to the tread groves where it's at there is a raised, almost a speed bump in each tread grove and that's at 2/32 tread depth. The tread wear indicator is 2/32 tread depth. What happens is that when this tire wears down where the tread-wear indicator is, when it wears down, it will be a straight line all the way across.

That will mean the tire is officially worn out. Just by looking at that as your tread is wearing, it gives you a good visual indicator of how the tire is wearing. These tires will come inflated with nitrogen. Nitrogen will help maintain the tire pressure for longer periods than standard air. It helps prolong life of the tire and even the wheel. The tire itself is a special trailer tire design.

It will couple the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire. It is created specifically for trailers. It's not intended for use on any other vehicles. The tread on this re-groovable on a lot of the large size tires. It is re-groovable for additional mileage. I do recommend you check with your local authorities because federal and state laws may apply for that. This also comes with, when you purchase it, a complimentary roadside assistance program for one year. Basically all you need to do is register your RV or trailer with the customer care club. If you have any problems while you are on the road you can call the help line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This assembly does meet the DOT or Department of Transportation specifications. a few specs on this. The diameter of the wheel is always measured inside to inside. That's 16" diameter. The width is 6" wide on the wheel. Bolt pattern is 8 on 6 1/2". Now if you want to measure the bolt pattern on a wheel like this that is a even number of lugs. Like eight. You just pick any hole like this one, measure from the center directly across to center of the hole directly across from it. On this one it would be 6 1/2". 8 lugs, 6 1/2" bolt pattern. This wheel will use the wheel lug size of either 1/2" x 20 or 9/16 x 18. The weight capacity of just the wheel is 3,750 pounds. Pilot whole diameter, the large whole in the center of the wheel, goes over the hub on your trailer. The diameter of that opening is 4.9" the tire size which is stamped on the sidewall is ST for special trailer 235 85R16. The R means it's a radial tire. Section width on this is 9.3" Overall diameter from bottom to the top when it's inflated is 31.7. This tire is a load range G which means it's a 14 ply rated tire. It does have a maximum load capacity of 4,080 pounds at 110 PSI. The last thing is on all your new trailer tires you'll notice they are now stamping them with a speed rating. The way that is. If you look at the tire size that we just went through you will see two numbers for the load index. Then, the letter "L". Speed rating is always given in a letter. So the speed rating will be 75 MPH speed rating. That will do it on the review of the Westlake ST 235 85R16 Radial trailer tire in the load range G on this 16" modular trailer wheel with the 8 on 6 1/2" bolt pattern.

You people rock! Noticed one of my tires had great tread but the sidewall had some cracks and was starting to dry rot. Another one had some cracks also so decided to order 2 tires. Turns out the tire and rim was about the same prices as the tire. Got home today and they were in front of the garage. Less than 3 days from order to deliver. To bad USPS can't operate that way. I have four of these tires on the ground now, and this order was for a spare. The ones I've been using are performing wonderfully, so why would I not order the same tire for a spare? Thanks, too, for the prompt and very courteous, handling and shipping of my order. 663716

The tire a wheel worked very well with no issues after about 8500 miles. I went ahead and purchased 4 new tire and wheels from etrailer when we got home and made this the new spare. Been very happy with the new wheels and tires after about 10,000 miles so far.

Product was exactly what was shown. It matched what i have on my trailer and was what i wanted as i travel twice a year to bring my daughter to college. I wanted the same tire and rim so all tires wear and travel the same as it is 1000 miles each way. The tires get a lot of long distance use. 615973

The trailer is coming out of storage from the winter. I have 4000 miles on them so far so good.Getting ready soon to travel again to get my daughter. Hopefully the trip will be uneventful and all will be good in the world when i travel. Great tires and rims will definitely buy more when i need them.

Excellent tire and rim, Excellent transaction from start to finish. Great e mails along the way. Bought as a spare but its' a 10 ply so swapped out it out with an 8 ply on my dump trailer. Next paycheck going to pick up another for fulltime use on my single axle dump trailer, guess I'll have two spare now,, but well worth the extra level of insurance with heavy loads. 665287

This is a high quality wheel/tire package. I replaced the original wheels and tires on my American Hauler trailer and am very pleased with the results. The trailer toes much better (and looks better too with the silver wheels rather than white)! The value from etrailer is excellent as well....I found it to be very competitively priced and excellent customer service. 867538
