Built-In Offset for Dual Applications

This tire-and-wheel assembly is designed to be used in dual-wheel setups. The 6.1" offset allows the wheel to be positioned closer to the trailer frame when used as the inner wheel of the setup. And if you use this assembly as the outer tire and wheel, the offset ensures that it will sit closer to the outside of your trailer.

Stud-Piloted Wheel

This stud-piloted (Budd-type) wheel centers on the studs instead of the hub. This requires the use of inner and outer lug nuts (sold separately). The nuts should be threaded correctly for the left and right sides of your trailer.

Corrosion-Resistant Finish

The steel wheel goes through a 3-step finishing process that makes it both attractive and corrosion resistant. The wheel is first submerged in a zinc phosphate bath to ensure good paint adhesion. It is then e-coated with an acrylic primer base and finished on both sides with baked-on DuPont powder paint.

Provider Radials

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Solution for Needing Replacing Dually Wheel and Tire in Size 9.5R16.5
For a dually wheel and tire setup that's going to have a similar outer diameter we have the Provider 215/75R17.5 Radial Tire w/ 17-1/2" White Dual Wheel # TA56MR which has a 30.2 inch outer diameter. Your current tire size has an outer diameter of 30.6 inches. These also have a capacity of 4,540 lbs at 123 psi. This has the standard dually 10 bolt pattern of 10 on 8-3/4 inches. It looks like you most likely have that bolt pattern too but I can only see a few lugs in your picture.

  • Shortest Diameter Wheel Setup that Can be Used on 10k Axle
We don't have a tire that is rated for 5,000 lbs so you'd be looking at having to go to a dual wheel setup to give you the capacity you'd need for a 10k axle. So for that the shortest diameter would be the size 215/75R17.5 for a diameter of 30.2 inches with the Provider 215/75R17.5 Radial Tire w/ 17-1/2" White Dual Wheel # TA56MR.

  • 10 on 8-3/4 Dually Wheels With A 6-1/4" Pilot Hole Needed
Hey Dexter, The only dual wheel we currently offer with a 10 on 8-3/4 bolt pattern would be the Taskmaster Steel Dual Wheel - 17-1/2" x 6-3/4" - 10 on 8-3/4 - 6.5" Pilot - White # TA29MR, which we also offer with a 215/75R17.5-LRH radial tire under part # TA56MR. This has a 6.5" pilot hole so it's 1/4" wider than what you were looking for though so they wouldn't work in your hub-centered setup. If this is for a motorhome or vehicle and not for a trailer then you should reach out to a...
