If your trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change out the flat tire with your existing inflated spare tire. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to the roadside assistance, this warranty also includes other benefits and services.
The stud holes on this steel wheel are beveled to ensure that the wheel stays tight against your trailer hub. This also eliminates the need to constantly retorque the lug nuts.
The standard tread on these tires has solid, continuous ribs, and it has very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. These tires are designed for use on trailers, so they don't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.
Contender radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff for the etrailer.com. Today we take a look at this contender ST225/75R15 radial trailer tire in a load range D. Mounted on this 15 inch Black Modular Steel Trailer Wheel with the six on five and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this tire and wheel is somebody's ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers and campers. The wheel they use is a steel wheel. It's the modular design.
And when we say the modular design, that's the one that has these round holes all the way around the wheel. It's very sturdy and corrosion resistant. It does use an Eco Primer and a nice black powder coat finish to resist rust and corrosion. Now this wheel does use the ITR Technology, which is improved torque retention. It's designed to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer.
And so, the zoom in and talk about basically what the ITR Technology is. If you look at the stud holes, they are uncoated and they're beveled to give you better clamp force retention. How the tire that's on this is a radial tire. It is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester cords. It's great for highway use, and they do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay around the tire to help prevent tread separation.
This is an ST tire, which stands for Special Trailer Tire. This design will couple the strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire. And it is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on any other vehicles. The whole tire and wheel summary meets the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications, and it does exceed your federal motor vehicle safety standards. Now, this whole something does come with a two-year platinum plus warranty, which will include complimentary roadside assistance.
And the service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Have you noticed it has the large center hole here. Now, this wheel does not come with a center cap. If you do want one to finish the look off, we do sell those separately on our website. You do wanna make sure to get a center cap, that'll have a diameter of 4.25 inches. That's the diameter of the large opening here that goes over the hub on your trailer. And when you put your center cap in, it'll go from the rear through the hole. Few specs on this, the diameter on the wheel is measured inside. Inside is 15 inches. The width on just the wheel is six inches wide. Now the bolt pattern, this wheel is a six on five and a half inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel, that's an even number of lugs, like in this case, six. It's pretty easy, 'cause if you notice the lugholes are directly across from each other. So when you go to measure it, all you have to do is measure from the center of one lughole directly across to the center of the lughole right across from it. So when you measure this one, it'll be five and a half inches. So it's a six log five and a half inch bolt pattern, does use the wheel lug size of a half inch by 20. And the weight capacity on just the wheel by itself is 2,830 pounds. Now the tire size, which will stamped on the sidewall of the tire, it's gonna be ST for Special Trailer 225/75R15. The R designates that it's a radial tire. Section width on this is gonna be 8.8 inches, overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 28.3. And this tire is a Load Range D which means it's an eight ply rated tire, has a maximum load capacity of 2,540 pounds at 65 PSI. And the last thing I do wanna mention is most all the new trailer tires are coming through with a speed rating on them. And they designate a speed rating by stamping a letter designation on the side of the tire. And usually it's right after the tire size, so if you go down here, the tire size is written pretty small down by the wheel, right after it, you'll see two numbers for the load index and then the letter M. So speed rating M will mean it's an 81 mile per hour speed rating. Complimentary roadside assistance included.Purchased 4 of these as a replacement for older 7.00-15 horse trailer tires. The ST225/75R15 are the closest size as a replacement. The previous product answers from staff did state that this tire would be about 1 inch wider so be sure to measure the inside clearance. Fit exactly as staff said it would. The tires were easy to change and provide a smooth ride. Great customer service as the tires shipped the same day as I placed the order. Very satisfied.
Bought this as a spare tire for my trailer for our cross-country trip. Matches the stock tires perfectly. Have used contender tires in the past with no problems.

looks like it will be an improvement over the bias ply tires on our pop up trailer. just bought the trailer and didn't realize they were 12 inch rims. measured the wheel well and found i couldn't even put 13 inch on so went with the radial tire improvement.

delivery was prompt. tire / wheels are substantial, haven't rolled them yet but stands tall on my diy 30ft rv trailer. I suspect they will do the job wonderfully, I don't see any squatting in these tires compared to the under rated load c tires they put on those old FEMA trailers.
