Durable Acrylic Enamel Finish
This wheel has a durable acrylic enamel finish on the front. The finish is applied after the wheel goes through an environmentally safe zinc phosphate pre-treatment and is coated with an e-coat primer layer. Compared to powder coat finishes, this finish resists getting chipped from flying road debris or scraped from hitting a curb for a longer period of time. These acrylic enamel wheels performed for more than 1,000 hours in salt spray tests.
The automotive-rated center disc is raised and the stud holes are beveled and uncoated for better clamp force retention. This technology helps the wheel stay tight against your hub without the need for constant retightening.
The standard tread on these tires has solid, continuous ribs, and it has very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. These tires are designed for use on trailers, so they don't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.
Contender radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Today, we're going to take a look at this Contender ST205/75R15 radial trailer tire in a load range C, mounted on this 15-inch Vesper silver modular trailer wheel with the five on four and a half-inch bolt pattern.Now, this tire and wheel assembly is ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers, and even campers. We're going to start with the wheel itself. It is a steel wheel, has the modular design, and when we say modular design, that's the one that has the round holes all the way around the wheel. It's very sturdy and rust-resistant.
The wheel goes through a three-step finishing process, which includes first a zinc phosphate pretreatment, then an E-coat primer, and then a nice silver acrylic enamel finish over the wheel. It does give excellent corrosion resistance with a nice salt spray rating of more than 1,000 hours. And this wheel also offers the ITR, which is improved torque retention technology. This is designed to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer. Uses the uncoated stud holes, which are beveled to offer better clamp force retention.The tire that they mount on this wheel is a nice radial tire.
It is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester cords. It's great for highway use, and they do use a nice nylon tread firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation. This is an ST tire, which stands for special trailer. It has sturdy sidewalls so they can handle heavy loads, and it is created specifically for trailers. It's not intended for use on any other vehicles.Now, they do offer a two-year platinum plus warranty, which does include emergency tire change service and other benefits.
And this assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation standards and exceeds your Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.A few specs on this. We'll start with the wheel. The diameter on the wheel, which has always measured inside to inside is 15-inch diameter. The width on just the wheel is five inches wide. This wheel does have a bolt pattern of five on four and a half inches.
And if you want to measure that on a wheel, that's an odd number of lugs, in this case, five, all you have to do is pick any hole. Let's say this one, and you'll measure across to either one of these holes, but when you measure it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of whichever hole you measure to. So on this wheel, it'll measure four and a half inches, so it's a five lug, four and a half inch bolt pattern. It does use a wheel lug size of a half-inch by 20. The wheel capacity is 2,160 pounds. And it does have a pilot hole diameter. This is the large hole here in the center of the wheel, goes over the hub on your trailer. Diameter of that opening is 3.19 inches.The tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, ST for special trailer, 205/75R15. The R stands for a radial tire. It has a section width of eight inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated, it's 27.1. This tire does have a capacity, it is a load range C and it has a six-ply rating, so the maximum load capacity on it is 1,820 pounds at 50 PSI. And the last thing I do want to mention is most all the new trailer tires are coming through with speed ratings on them now. And the speed rating on this tire, if you look, here's the size we just went. If you look right after it, it writes out speed rating, 81 miles per hour. And the other way they indicated is right here along the rim. You'll see the tire size, right after it is two numbers for the load index, and then the letter M. Speed rating M again, will mean 81 miles per hour.But that should do it for the review on this Contender ST205/75R15 radial trailer tire in a load range C, on the 15-inch Vesper silver modular trailer wheel, with the five on four and a half inch bolt pattern.

The color is slightly off which I originally tried to match 100% but im ok with it as it is a spare but everything else is identical. I priced matched everywhere so etrailer prices are good. They also have guidance on measuring so that was helpful. Shipping was fast, 4 days maybe. Overall extremely happy with purchase and would recommend etrailer to others.
