Platinum Plus Warranty with Roadside Assistance

This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with a Platinum Plus warranty that includes complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change out the flat tire with your existing inflated spare tire. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to the roadside assistance, this warranty also includes other benefits and services.

Corrosion-Resistant Finish

The steel wheel goes through a 3-step finishing process that makes it both attractive and corrosion resistant. The wheel is first submerged in a zinc phosphate bath to ensure good paint adhesion. It is then e-coated with an acrylic primer base and the outboard side is finished with baked-on DuPont powder paint. The light e-coat on the inboard side of the wheel reduces friction between the wheel and your hub and eliminates the flaking that can occur with a heavily applied paint finish.

Improved Torque Retention Technology

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The automotive-rated center disc is raised and the stud holes are beveled and uncoated for better clamp force retention. This technology helps the wheel stay tight against your hub without the need for constant retightening.

Taskmaster Radials

Taskmaster radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Taskmaster radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I am converting a landscape/utility trailer to be a camping trailer for us that has been sitting in my side yard for several years. I didn't want to rely on the old tires driving on the highway with a load, so I ordered these. They are tires, the do tire things. I haven't driven on them yet, but the biggest surprise to me was the color. These are not galvanized wheels. These look to be powder coated or painted a medium grey. Not that the trailer is a beauty contestant, but the grey looks so much better with the rest of the setup than white would have. 3 sets were put in a big box that was securely stapled (no tape!) shut. The packaging held up well in transit (short of the deliverer putting the heavy box against my front glass door which prevented me from opening it). etrailer has always served me well for my towing/trailer needs. 539031

Bargain trailer turned into a suspension replacement project. For the cost of the tire alone you get the rim and tire great deal 566613

- AT12R45SM

Not generally a fan of “cheap” tires and firmly believe you get what you pay for, particularly car and truck tires. Took a gamble as these appear to be decent tires and very good wheels for an excellent price. My fears were affirmed with a sidewall bulge on one tire on the first day of use. Etrailer made it right and quickly got me a replacement. The replacement and the original good tire are holding up fine. Despite my issue, the tires track true and smooth and were a great price. Will change my review to five stars if these tires survive my upcoming Northern GA to Key West trip without issue. As always, five stars for etrailer! 511080

I was looking for smaller radial boat tires and I found etrailer. I ordered this tire/rim combo because they looked nice and for a great price. They shipped quickly and we're actually in a box, which was nice. I installed them immediately. They run down the road great and I have peace of mind while cruising on the freeway. 646699

The tire and wheel have performed great. It is used on a SeaDoo trailer. Tread wear is as expected and the wheel shows no rust. Finish is holding up very well. 710807

Just received my new wheels with tires mounted for my jon boat trailer. Price was the best I could find and shipping was extremely fast, got them the next day. They appear to be excellent quality. Just mounted them last night so haven’t had a chance to see how they run. My only suggestion would be to have included instructions for the wheel torque specs. Had to look them up online as customer service didn’t have any information. 481947

Like the fact they are radial tires. They look much better then the wheels and tires that were on the trailer. See before and after pictures big deference looks good. 616563

These tires and rims are a great upgrade to my trailer. Who knew they made a radial tire in the size I needed. Now I have a better tire. They fit perfect and really look good on my trailer. I absolutely like shopping for my trailer needs from etrailer. They have hard to find parts. 639664

thank you very much for all the help your staff was when i called and then ordered the tire and rim set up.i had bought a new 5x8 trailer to haul my new 4 wheeler in December of 2019 and it had bias ply tires on it and after a trip to bike week in march i made it home (3000 mile trip) to get a flat. after getting the tire fixed i picked up a load of mulch and had a flat on the way home i needed new tires. when i contacted the trailer manufacturer to see if they had radials they did not. and that's when i found your company on line. after talking to a rep. to see if i could up grade to a wider tire we found out that the tire would be taller so i stayed with the same size tire.the tires were delivered on tuesday morning in a box that was not damaged! took for a trial run and all seems well. next week im getting more mulch so photos to follow. if you have bias ply tires replace asap with radials and save your self time and money thats if you they did not come on your trailer. if i need any more items for my trailer i will be using e-trailer. thanks again!! tim 804006

Bought tire and rim combo as a spare for my boat trailer. Tire and rim combo are a better quality than the originals that came with the boat. Valve stem is metal rather than a rubber insert. Overall very good quality and very happy with the purchase. 801936

- AT12R45SM

Love the tires and service Bought these for my boat trailer. I wanted radials since i do a lot of highway driving. Guess radials in this size are hard to find. etrailer had em. Used these to replace my previous ones which were bias ply. Put em on the other and test drove em . Seemed fine. Took em on a fishing run and the ride seemed so much better on the highway. Any questions or research needed were answered by e trailer online in timely fashion. Thanks everyone!!!!!! 801030

Absolutely love these as replacements to the bias tires I had. Ordered and received in 3 days. Came in a box and all inflated ready to install. Fit and look perfect. The trailer noise is considerably less with the radials going over bumps etc. Really awesome especially with the 80 plus mph rating. Etrailer Rocks! 777221

  • Trailer Tire and Wheel Replacement for Trailer with Size 4.80-12
You'll want the size 4.80-12 since that is what is listed on your tire sidewall. The other size mentioned basically is another way of stating the same size. For a wheel an tire in this size I recommend the Taskmaster Wheel and Tire # AT12R45SM which is a radial tire in this size with a higher speed rating of 81 mph on a steel wheel with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern (which you most likely have). It has a great weight capacity of 990 lbs at 90 psi as well.

Each of these tire and wheels have a load rating of C with a max capacity of 990 lbs at 90 psi, 12" diameter x 4" wide wheel dimensions and a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern (please refer to the linked help article on determining bolt pattern if you are unsure of what you have). • Does Pilot Hole Size Matter When Replacing 4.8-12 Size Tire and Wheel for Boat Trailer
The pilot hole diameter of a wheel is only important when dealing with hub centric wheels, which are more typically found on passenger vehicles. Standard trailer wheels are centered on the lugs, so as long as you match up the bolt pattern, the wheels will fit and operate correctly, regardless of the pilot hole size. To replace the 4.8-12 size tire and wheels on your boat trailer, I recommend going with the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 12 Inch Silver Mod Wheel # AT12R45SM....

  • Recommended 4.80-12 Load Range C Tire and Wheel With 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern
You will want to stick with the same 4.80-12 trailer tire size and I recommend radial tires because they are an improvement over bias tires. The reason is they flex more and run cooler which means they will last longer, resulting in better performance and fewer blowouts. The best option is the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire with 12" Silver Mod Wheel # AT12R45SM. We do have a couple of trailer tires in your same 4.8 x 8 size that will give you a higher speed rating. I recommend the Kenda K371 Bias Trailer Tire # AM10004. This 6 ply trailer tire features a maximum load of 745 pounds at 90 psi and a speed rating of 65 mph. If you want an even higher speed rating then you will indeed need to upgrade in size for your tires and wheels. For a 4.80-12 tire and wheel combo I recommend the Taskmaster Radial Trailer Tire w/ Silver Mod Wheel # AT12R45SM....

  • What is the Difference Between a Radial and Bias Trailer Tire
The difference between the Taskmaster # TTWA12WM and the Taskmaster # AT12R45SM is that the # TTWA12WM is a bias tire where the # AT12R45SM is a radial tire. I recommend using the Taskmaster # AT12R45SM because the radial tires will perform better when towing on highways and over long distances, in addition to wearing more evenly. For your application I recommend using the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2K Axles # AKIHUB-545-2-2K which uses the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and fits 8" - 12" wheels, and then the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 12" Silver Mod Wheel # AT12R45SM which has an overall diameter of 20.63". We normally recommend having about 4" of clearance between the tires and fenders to account...

  • Tires to Replace 185/65-14 Tires on Older Camper
You want to see an absolute minimum of 3 inches of clearance between the top of the tire and the underside of the wheel well/fender. Your current tires are 23.5 inches in diameter, and you'll need something as close as possible to that size for a spare for emergency use. It's not a good idea to mix tire sizes, so you'll be best off going with 3 identical size tire/ wheels. Also, trailer tires have stronger sidewalls and are better suited for trailer use than passenger car tires. The...
