Platinum Plus Warranty with Roadside Assistance

This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with a Platinum Plus warranty that includes complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change out the flat tire with your existing inflated spare tire. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to the roadside assistance, this warranty also includes other benefits and services.

Corrosion-Resistant Finish

The steel wheel goes through a 3-step finishing process that makes it both attractive and corrosion resistant. The wheel is first submerged in a zinc phosphate bath to ensure good paint adhesion. It is then e-coated with an acrylic primer base and the outboard side is finished with baked-on DuPont powder paint. The light e-coat on the inboard side of the wheel reduces friction between the wheel and your hub and eliminates the flaking that can occur with a heavily applied paint finish.

Improved Torque Retention Technology

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The automotive-rated center disc is raised and the stud holes are beveled and uncoated for better clamp force retention. This technology helps the wheel stay tight against your hub without the need for constant retightening.

Standard Trailer Tire Tread

Contender Tire Tread

The standard tread on these tires has solid, continuous ribs, and it has very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. These tires are designed for use on trailers, so they don't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Contender radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

We have a 2013 Jay Feather X17A and they usually come with 13 inch rims and tires. We recently had a blow out and after doing some research it was recommended that I switch to 14 inch rims and tires. I purchased a pair of these and couldn't be happier. Rims fit the hub and wheel well without any problem. The trailer tows beautifully. Thanks etrailer!

Ordered on a Friday afternoon and received it Tuesday afternoon. I thought that was fast. Easy to find, easy to order, and couldn’t beat the price for a tire already mounted on the rim. I needed to replace my bass boat trailer tire, since someone stole my other one off the trailer. I will get my trailer rims/tires from you when they need replacing.

  • Will Contender ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire and Wheel # AC14R45SM Replace a 15.5 Inch Wide Wheel
An extra 1/2 an inch or rim width shouldn't cause an issue, but you can check out your current tire to frame clearance to know for sure. As long as you have room for 1/4 of an inch less of clearance you would be fine. Also your wheels would need to have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern like this wheel has to mount to your trailer hubs. In case you don't know what bolt pattern you have I attached a help article that covers that.

There is something similar to what you are looking for, though it is a silver mod wheel and not chrome. I recommend checking out the Contender # AC14R45SM, which is a 205/75R14 tire with a 14" silver mod wheel. The is a load range C tire with a maximum load of 1,760 lbs at 50 psi. • Replacement 205/75-14 Size Trailer Tires with Wheels for a Boat Trailer
I recommend going with radial tires for a highway tire. Radial tires are better for highway driving than bias tires because they flex more causing better road contact and tread wear. For your 205/75-14 tire and wheel combo we have part # AC14R45SM which has a maximum weight capacity of 1,760 pounds at 50 psi. It's also rated up to 81 mph which is higher than some trailer tires. That is way too close of a distance between the tires. You'd need to go with a smaller diameter tire. As long as you have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern you'd be able to go with a wheel and tire combo like the # AC14R45SM and you'd be set.

The 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, like what is on the Contender ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 14" Silver Mod Wheel # AC14R45SM, is the way to determine if a wheel will fit your current hubs. This is one of the most common bolt patterns for trailer wheels and you can measure your bolt pattern by either measuring from the center of one bolt to the diameter of your pattern directly across from it, or simply measuring from the center of one bolt to the center of an adjacent bolt. • Is Contender ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 14" Silver Mod Wheel # AC14R45SM Balanced
The tire and wheel combos we carry like # AC14R45SM are not machined balanced. You can have the tire and wheel combos balanced at a local tire shop if you wanted to. This is a type of balancing but not like how car tires are balanced (with weights on a balancing machine).

The pre-mounted combinations of trailer wheels and trailer tires that we offer are given a degree of balancing by the distributor but not a full dynamic balance on a balancing machine as passenger car tires require. • Can Trailer with 13 inch Trailer Tires be Replaced with 14 inch Trailer Tires
To go from a 13 inch trailer tire size to a 14 will take up about an inch of your current wheel well clearance. If you have room for that then what you are wanting to do is very possible. Since you "flipped" the axle this shouldn't be a problem at all. For a wheel and tire with a tire size of ST205/75R14 installed on it you'd want the part # AC14R45SM which comes with a wheel with the bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2 inch. Overall diameter of this trailer tire is 26.14 inches.

  • Trailer Axle Diameter and Weight Capacity for Boat Trailer
Both sprung axles and torsion trailer axles typically have some positive camber, meaning that there is a bend in the axle. When NOT under load the center of the axle is higher than the spindle ends; once the axle's rated weight is applied the axle beam flattens out. This initial bend allows the trailer tires to be flat on the road surface when there is weight on them. This provides for even tire wear and better traction. An axle's diameter can provide some indication of its weight capacity...
