Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the tread on these Castle Rock radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Castle Rock tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.
Castle Rock radials are constructed with double steel belts and double nylon cords. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Today we're going to take a look at the Castle Rock ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire in a load range C. Now, this is a radial tire. It's great for highway use. It is constructed with double steel belts, double nylon plies, and they do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay all the way around the tire to help prevent tread separation. They do offer the tread wear indicators like you'll see on your passenger car tire where it makes it very easy to see the tread depth of how your tire is wearing. They do have siping on the tread design.
The siping is the cuts in the tread, and what that does is that allows the water to channel away from underneath the tire to help improve your traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. This is an ST tire, which means it's a special trailer tire, has sturdy sidewalls so that it can handle heavy loads, and it is created specifically for trailers. It's not intended for use on any other vehicles. They do offer complimentary roadside assistance for two years and also flat tire services available 24/7 anywhere in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico. This tire does meet the DOT, department of transportation, and the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard specifications. A few specs on this.
This tire is designed to fit on the wheel width of 14 inch x five inch wide, 14 by 5-1/2 inch, 14 x 6, and 14 x 6-1/2 inch wide wheels. The tire size, which is stamped on the sidewall, ST for special trailer, 205/75R14. The R designates that it is a radial designed tire. Section width is 8 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the very top when it's inflated is 26.1.
This tire is a load range C, which means it's a 6-ply rated tire. It does have a maximum load capacity of 1,760 pounds at 50 PSI.The last thing I do want to mention is most all the new trailer tires are coming through with a speed rating on them and the speed rating is stamped on the sidewall and it's designated by a letter designation. So right where the size was if you just go a little bit further it'll say speed rating L. The he letter L will mean 75 miles per hour speed rating. That should do it for the review on the Castle Rock ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire in a load range C.

I ordered these tires because they are OEM tires. I had the misfortune of having 2 tires blow out on my RV last season on a Saturday Evening. I was subjected to buy 2 generic tires to get home. Unfortunately, these tires did not hold up. So I just received these tires yesterday and have not installed them yet. I am confident they will be spot on. As for service the tires were delivered 2 days early. I can't believe how easy and accurate this process was. I plan to purchase many more things from etrailer.com in the future. 837932
It's just a travel trailer spare tire. Other than it took a long time to arrive everything is ok. 821876
