This aluminum wheel comes with steel inserts in the lug nut wells. The inserts are pressed into the aluminum, and they help prevent the holes from wearing down over time. This ensures that the wheel stays secured to your trailer hub and that you won't have to constantly retorque the lug nuts.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Lionshead 16 inch by 6 inch matte black Liger aluminum trailer wheel with the 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this is an aluminum wheel. It's very durable, lightweight, and rustproof. And we mentioned it is the Liger series, which you can see is a six-spoke design, has a matte black finish to it, but if you look at the edge of the spokes, has a machine finish on the edge of the spokes to get a nice shine to it. Two dimensions on this, we're gonna measure the diameter of the wheel, which will always be measured inside the inside.
So if we take our tape measure, go inside to inside, there's your 16 inch measurement for the diameter. The width will be the same way. It's inside to inside or bead seat to bead seat. There's your six inches wide for the width. And the bolt pattern on this wheel is a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern.
And if you wanna measure that on a wheel like this that's an even number of lugs, it's pretty easy because if you look, the lug holes are directly across from each other. So when you measure for a bolt pattern, all you have to do is pick any hole, measure from the center of that hole directly across to the center of the hole, the one right across from it. So on this, it'll measure 5-1/2 inches, so it's a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. This will accept the wheel lug size of either 1/2 inch by 20 or 9/16 by 18. Weight capacity on this wheel is 3,300 pounds.
If you notice, this wheel does not come with a center cap. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately on a website. You do wanna make sure to get a center cap that'll have the same diameter as this pilot hole. Because when you install it, the cap will go through this hole. Pilot hole diameter here is 4.25 inches.
They do use an automotive grade clear coat finish on the front of the wheel, protects it from any scuffs and scratches. Now, one of the nice features I like on this wheel, they put the steel inserts right here in the lug nut wells and that's designed to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub. So when you install this on the studs, tighten your lugs down, torque them down, those inserts will prevent the holes from elongating and wearing down, so eliminates the need for constant re-tightening of your lug nuts. If you notice the valve stem is included, installed right here. And this wheel does meet the DOT Department of Transportation specifications and the SAE J1204 standards. They do also offer complimentary roadside assistance for two years and flat tire services available 24/7 anywhere in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico. Wheel may be great but etrailer does not understand how to package the wheel for shipment. The wheel arrives in a box with the good side against the staples so it gets scratched in shipment. Very disappointed!
Our toy hauler factory wheels cracked. So I purchased these with HD 16 ply tires. After a year they are holding up well. Very happy with these and they still looked great!
