Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

A good alternative to 20.5 x 8-10 tires

Excellent quality! 500 miles with these on my snowmobile trailer carrying a total load of about 1600lbs and no defects. Treadware is minimal too.

by:

Very happy with purchase, bought to use as a spare on snowmobile trailer.

by:

Was good price, fast delivery, product was as pictures show, great company to do business with, I will be back again, thank you

by:

Just what I wanted, delivered in a timely manner

by:

I purchased 2 of these wheels and tires to replace the 8" fixed intregral hubs and tires on a small motorcycle trailer. The intregral hubs make carrying a spare tire very difficult as the wheel bearings are separate from the spare. Makes a little more of a project as the axle and hubs needed to be changed as well. But looks like these will make a slick little trailer when is all done.

Shipping was fast; and free is a great price for the shipping.
Have made several purchases from etrailer.com and it continues to be my first choice for trailer and hitch products.

Thanks

Review from a similar Loadstar Galvanized in Trailer Tires and Wheels

Ordered 3 wheel and tire assemblies to replace my old ones on my trailer, one for as spare. After more than 10 days and back ordered after i ordered them. I get them and they have the wrong valve stems installed. These are load C trailer tires 90 psi. The rubber valve stem that came in them are 60 psi. So now these wheel and tire assemblies cant be used and are now not DOT compliant. My old trailer tires im replacing have metal valve stem which are DOT compliant for 90 psi. After 2 phone calls and a hour waiting to talk to someone. They agreed about the valve stem concern. But no call back with a resolution to the problem as promised. I called back a third time today to the persons extension and it went to voice mail! E-trailer this is a fail!

Review from a similar Loadstar Galvanized in Trailer Tires and Wheels

Bought one as spare 3 months ago. So much better then what trailer has as stock wheels and tires. So I bought another to replace both wheels and use old ones for two spares.

Got some wheel locks too.

Excellent! Service! I needed this ASAP as I’m in the road and it arrived fast as light! Thx Savana and crew !!

Review from a similar Loadstar Galvanized in Trailer Tires and Wheels

This tire/wheel was exactly as I expected. Excellent quality and a perfect match to my wheels on my new trailer. I purchased the "Extra Offset Trailer Spare Tire Carrier by Dutton-Lainson" from etrailer to mount on my aluminum 2-craft PWC trailer.

Review from a similar Loadstar Galvanized in Trailer Tires and Wheels

Price was good and shipping was fast, but the finish on these rims (even for the price) is lacking, in my opinion. I didnt' expect a chrome-like finish from galvanized but these things are not something to be proud of. Every one of the 4 I purchased has what appear to be rust spots under the galvanization. Two of them have spots where the galvanization does not seem to have adhered properly. While maybe they will hold up OK for a while, the main reason I purchased new tires AND wheels was because my existing wheels were looking aged. These don't look much better.

  • What Is Right Tire Pressure For Trailer Tires Size 205/65-10
It sounds like you have tires that are sized 205/65-10 similar to the Kenda Bias Trailer Tire Item # AM3H360 which has a maximum load capacity of 1,100 lbs at 50 psi (Links to other selections included). When it comes to the right tire pressure, always go with the recommendation on your tire. Do not go beyond 50 psi with your current trailer tires and do not exceed total load capacity. The Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range B # AM3H360 will give you a slightly smoother ride when empty, but I still recommend using the Load Range C option # AM3H400 because it will be a thicker sidewall on the tire. The ply rating bump from 4 ply to 6 ply is more ideal if you will be traveling on highways or rough side roads. The trailer suspension should take the brunt of the shock whether loaded or unloaded. • Is Powder Coated Wheel or Galvanized Wheel Better for 205/65-10 Trailer Tire
Between the white powder coated wheel on the Kenda # AM3H430 and the galvanized wheel on the Kenda # AM3H440 you are better off going with the galvanized wheel. Galvanized wheels offer the utmost in protection against rust, which is particularly important when it comes to boat trailers or any situation where the wheel is going to consistently be in contact with moisture. • Replacement for 20.5 x 8-10 Tire and 5-Lug Wheel
So you mentioned wheel, though the 20.5 x 8-10 size you mentioned is actually a tire size, which leads me to think you are looking for a replacement wheel and tire of that size. Since that's an older tire size, what you will need is the modern equivalent, a size 205/65-10 tire, along with a wheel that the tire will fit on. We have just 205/65-10 tires, or just the 5-lug 10 inch rim, or a combination of the tire and rim together if that is what you are looking for. Here are the options...
