Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the tread on these Castle Rock radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Castle Rock tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.
Castle Rock radials are constructed with double steel belts and double nylon cords. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

I bought this tire to replace exactly the one that was on the trailer. I've found different manufacturers tires are not exactly the same size even though the numbers match. I had one tire on my dump trailer locking up when I applied the brakes. It was a different manufacturer and when comparing it was actually about a 1/2" smaller height wise. This is the exact tire that the rest of the tires on my trailer are and it has been working great. It is just a tire. Not to much t report on.

I had a blowout on my way home from Florida back to Texas on my travel trailer. Half way home and was glad had a spare. When I got back I called the local dealership and they referred me to etrailer.com because they couldn’t get it in stock from their supplier. Looked up on internet and found the exact match. I called around and could no one had this in stock but could order it with no idea when it would arrive. The dealer I bought the camper from suggested going to etrailer.com and they not only had it but sent it the same day and it show up 2days later. You can't beat that! Tire is exactly as advertised however shipping was delayed, original estimated delivery date was Aug 17 when I placed the order, received tire on Aug 21.

Worst tires ever!!!! Many blow outs and wear problems. Broken belts in new tires. These tires have destroyed many a fender well!!!

I ordered these tires because they are OEM tires. I had the misfortune of having 2 tires blow out on my RV last season on a Saturday Evening. I was subjected to buy 2 generic tires to get home. Unfortunately, these tires did not hold up. So I just received these tires yesterday and have not installed them yet. I am confident they will be spot on. As for service the tires were delivered 2 days early. I can't believe how easy and accurate this process was. I plan to purchase many more things from etrailer.com in the future.
