Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

A big Thank You! to George, Kurt and Steven for processing, pulling and packing this order.

Wheels are excellent, well made and DOT approved. Their size is clearly stamped into each wheel and the finish is a gloss white that looks to be heavy/thick and should last for years on trailers, lawn carts and lawn equipment. I'll be using some of these for those applications as well as GoKarts and Minibikes.

Everything was packed well and arrived in perfect condition. Each wheel was isolated from the others and well protected from shipping damage.

Bought these tires for a cross country trip from Ohio to Colorado. Made the 3500 trip with no issues. Sold the trailer after the trip so can't speculate longevity

That were exactly what I needed for my trailer. Both rims I ordered fit great. I was having a hard time finding the right size rims for my trailer but etrailer had exactly what I needed. Now me and the family will be back to kayaking this weekend.

Great service, fast delivery !!
as advertised, will order from you again.

Product is great service was horrible I ordered on the 9 was supposed to be delivered on the 15 . I called on the 16 and was told that it just shipped on the 16.when I finally received the rims one wasn’t the right bolt pattern had to contact again and have the right rim shipped

I purchased this wheel to replace one that failed on an early 90's Terramite T5C with a four bolt wheel hub. The wheel was shipped quickly and fit just fine. The whee was nicely painted, and appeared to be well made. No complaints, and pretty reasonable price. I'm glad etrailer still carries this wheel as 4-hole patterns aren't too common.

I couldn't ask for any better service than what I get from them after all these years

Got the wheels right on time as promise d.

Etrailer, is a great shopping experience, always keep me informed on progress of orde, fair priced, and timely shipping. Thanks Etrailer for being in business ??

Just what I needed ,I thought the shipping was a little bit high but what isn’t these days

No problems with ordering or delivery, pricing is excellent. Project was not the standard application.

seem to be well made going to use them on a kubota b7100 after i make the center hole larger. good people to deal with

Finally! A product that is better than described! Packaging was a little odd but regardless, everything was great!

Fast service, perfect fit wheely. Will use etrailer again!

Perfect as described and fast delivery! Thank You

My four wheels arrived last Friday. They are very nice and well made. The price was great too. They came well boxed with plenty of padding (paper) to prevent them from hitting each other in transit. I am very satisfied with my purchase. And the crew at etrailer provided great communication about shipment dates and tracking numbers. Thanks guys & gals!

Bolted Right up. Tire went on easily. Hauling white a bit of weight on these little tires with no problems.

Received rims in good time and in excellent shipping carton...It's a pleasure doing business with this company...You need good products at very reasonable prices this is the place to come for overall satisfaction....Thanks again for GREAT+++++ SALES AND SERVICE.

  • Backspacing/Offset of Americana 10x6 Steel Trailer Wheel # AM20041
The 10 inch trailer wheel you referenced, part # AM20041 has a zero offset. The distance from the back of the rim to the mounting surface of the rim (referred to as back spacing) is 3-1/2 inches. Since the wheel has a zero offset, the distance from the centerline of the wheel to the mounting surface of the wheel is zero.

  • How to Measure Bolt Pattern on 4 Bolt Trailer Hub
The reason your bolt pattern measurement doesn't seem to line up with anything is because you're measuring between the adjacent bolts. The correct way to measure with an even number of bolts is center to center between opposite bolts on the hub. Once you measure this way you will likely find that you have the standard 4 on 4 bolt pattern. If you're looking for a 10" wheel like the # AM20053 you looked at with a 4 on 4 bolt pattern you could use the # AM20041. I have attached a help article...

  • Can Modern 8" Diameter Wheels Work With 7" Drum Brakes On Trailer?
I wish it would, but the Steel Trailer Wheel - 8" x 7" Rim - 4 on 4 - White # AM20021 you were looking at will not work with 7" drum brakes as the I.D. of the wheel is closer to 6". It may be possible to find an extra wheel like your current wheels on a resale website. Instead the only modern option I am aware of is going with the 10" or larger wheel like the Steel Trailer Wheel - 10" x 6" Rim - 4 on 4 - White # AM20041. I included a video of the # AM20041 for you to take a look at.

  • Bolt Pattern Options for 10 Inch Diameter Trailer Wheels
I would love to help but there is not really a direct correlation between tire size and bolt pattern. If you have five bolt wheels then you will need to measure from the center of one hole to the edge of the furthest hole which is explained in the attached photo. With that being said, we do not offer any 10" diameter wheels with a 5 on 5" bolt pattern. We currently offer 10" diameter wheels with a 4 on 4" bolt pattern part # AM20041, a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern part # AM20046, and a 5 on...

  • Replacement Trailer Wheels for 4 on 4 Bolt Wheels with 4.80/4.00-8 Trailer Tires
I would need to know what size tires on on the trailer. From the picture it looks like you have 4.80/4.00-8 tires. You can stick with the wheels you have and get new tires the same size, see link. The tires we carry are rated for 65 miles per hour (unless otherwise noted on the tire). Bias ply tires are better for off-road types of applications. To go up to a larger wheel the next largest size is # AM20041. This is a 10 inch wheel that is also 2-1/4 inches wider than the wheels you have...

  • Dimensions of a 205/50-10 and a 205/65-10 Trailer Tire
I may have an option for you but we do not carry 4.80x10 or 5.20x10 trailer tires as this is an extremely uncommon tire size. The only tires we have confirmed to fit a 10" wheel are a 205/50-10 or a 205/65-10 tire. For a 205/50-10 tire I recommend using the Kenda K399 Pro-Tour Bias part # AM40406 and for a 205/65-10 tire I recommend using the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire part # AM1HP50. A 205/50-10 tire is going to be 18.3" in diameter and 7.7" wide. A 205/65-10 is going to be about...

  • How to Measure Bolt Pattern to Replace Trailer Wheels on a 1986 Tracker Party Barge Trailer
