Replace your standard equalizers with these shock-absorbing E-Z Flex units to get a smooth ride for your tandem-axle trailer. Equalizers with rubber cores absorb road shock for a smooth ride. Heavy-duty shackle straps ensure strength.Let me begin by saying I believe overall this to be a well made product and I would recommend buying it. I have 3 recommendations if you purchase this or a competing product. #1 Test all the grease fittings to make sure they take grease and were not damaged during shipping. #2 install these with the grease fittings directed inward so as to not have to remove the wheels and tires to grease them. #3 call etrailer before ordering any item to confirm they have the product in the shipping warehouse and not off site and that they can give you a reasonable idea when it will ship. Sadly their shipping times have suffered greatly as of late.
Pros. The product, as a whole, is a well made beast and I believer will last as long as we own our camper. Other than tires this is one of the first things I'm replacing and our camper which is a 2021. When I removed the factory items yesterday the plastic bushings were already showing cracking and wear from only a handful of short distance trips. Sadly this is the junk installed on the vast majority of Rv's. I was unaware of this issue until doing a pre vacation check on our old travel trailer 3 years ago and found my equalizer had oval holes, and the plastic bushings were worn with many being worn completely thru from many miles of use by the previous owners. The hardware that comes with this kit is Mercedes to Yugo in comparison and should last as long as I own this unit.
Cons. Here's where I had an issue. As you can see from the enclose I had a grease fitting that I believe was cracked and broke while applying grease. I also had one grease fitting that would not take grease which I didn't discover until after I installed them. Hence my recommendation to check before install. I even tested by removing and using another grease fitting to test and it still wouldn't take grease. We removed the entire wet bolt and were able to force grease thru the fitting and after install it seemed to work fine. Unfortunately we somehow chipped one of the bronze bushing which I'll have to replace. My real issue came when installing on the other side and the fitting pictured broke. Luckily I was able to find a replacement at a local auto parts store and the broken piece came out fairly easy. I'm not sure if it was stressed during shipping, since all the hardware was packed fairly loose or may have been over torqued during manufacturing. The problem was is that not all the grease fitting are the same size. They took both 8 and 7mm wrenches to remove the 2 I had a problem with. That lack of quality control is the reason for my 3 star review. I planned on carrying a couple extra just in case I had an issue while on the road but since I have multiple sizes that's not worth the headache.
Again, inspect, inspect the product before installing.
I shared pictures - obviously the newly installed Dexter and then the older Lippert with a comparison of the differences between the shackle straps (top one is the new Dexter shackle strap that is much more industrial strength)
Our 2018 Keystone Springdale SG252 was originally equipped with nylon spring and equalizer bushings. After 3 years and approximately 4,000 miles of on-highway use these had deteriorated allowing a lot of unwanted motion in the suspension. I had the complete Dexter EZ FLex suspension kit installed at a local shop during routine seasonal maintenance. The tech needed about 2 and a half hours to complete the installation and remarked how impressed he was with this kit. The addition of bronze bushing with grease fittings allows the suspension to last indefinitely as long as it is lubricated and maintained. I immediately noticed that the popping, cracking, and other suspension noise was eliminated. Also eliminated was "axle walking" or movement when making tight turns or backing. IMHO the Equalizer with its rubber isolator/dampener is worth the price of the kit. Items in the coach simple stay where they are put. I believe that the ride inside is much smoother and road vibration is no longer being transferred through the suspension into the trailer. I am a believer! I have ordered a 2nd kit for my 2021 Transcend Xplor 240ML. The Transcend is factor equipped with bronzed bushings, however, I want to reduce road vibration into the coach. I expect this upgrade will outperform the OEM supplied equalizer. Yes, I'm very pleased!
The installation went smoothly with no issues. All the grease zerks are still easily taking grease almost a year later...which is good. Units were installed on a tandem axle car trailer usually hauling a 5500lbs vehicle with a combined weight including the trailer of nearly 8000lbs. I can't say that I can feel a noticeable difference in the ride of the trailer compared to the old worn-out rigid equalizers. Although, I typically tow the car trailer behind a RAM 3500 with a 3000lbs Lance camper in the bed, so there is a lot of other weight on the truck. Only able to give 4 stars at this point...the 5th star has to wait until a few more years of trouble-free use.
Very happy with them, and had them on for about year. They are working well, I also bought new leaf springs too, plus I upgraded the new disc & rotors, electric hydraulic pump, breakaway braking system along with them, plus flipping the axels, and new shock kit. The whole job was a little bit of money, but, thinking it was well worth the effort, time, and money. She [ The Hillbilly Hillton ], a customer cargo trailer, is a real pleasure to tow around and was really made to go offroad and explore the back country. She rides like butter! : ) All parts came from etrailer, they had everything I need
Excellent product. I have installed the EZ flex on a previous trailer and that made a huge difference in towing comfort. This trailer had a Moride equalizer installed from the factory. My biggest issue was the lack of wet bolts and real bushings. After removing the Moride equalizer everything seemed very sloppy. The EZ flex seemed to be much better built. The only thing that I didn't like about the EZ flex is that it was red instead of the bronze color that shows in the pictures. Looking forward to see how the trailer pulls with the change.
After a year and 20,000 miles, this was one of the best upgrades in towing and ride on my 42' fifth wheel. It took out a lot of the small bumps that would open cabinet's and knock things over in the shelves. Another great advantage is the bronze bushings are greasable and do not squeak like the OEM plastic, the OEM bushings had around 3000 miles and we're already worn through, the bronze if kept greased will probably last the life of the trailer.
Bought this particular set as a replacement for the crushed rubber bumper on my factory Dexter set. Had them professionally installed. The set included wet bolts, new bushings and heavier duty hanging brackets. Have towed with them twice since the replacement installation and my trailer is back to riding smoother. Thought the price was good. Shipping was quick and product was as described.
e-Trailer is my new go to site when looking or buying replacement parts for my RV. They have installation video's and have representatives that actually answer the phone and help guide you with making sure you order the right part.
Product appears to be of high quality and beefier compnentry than factory OEM. For an adventurous person(s) with reasonable DIY skills and tools, changing out the original suspension with this kit is quite doable. I'm 75 and my wife 69 and we changed the suspension on our 2021 Starcraft 212FB in our driveway. Trailer rides smoother with less "earthquake effect" on the contents, for sure, and I imagine that the smoother ride quality is beneficial to any of the more delicate plumbing connections and fittings. Yes, I would recommend this upgrade to the original suspension.
Bought this kit last year for a tandem axle car hauling trailer. The original equalizer and bushings were just wore out from normal use. The wear was creating lots of extra vibration and noise. Thought I would give this a try. I am beyond impressed. The trailer now tows and rides as good as one of my other trailers that has torsion suspension. Vibration from axle misalignment and rattles are gone! I am so impressed I have now purchased another kit for my 5th wheel camper. Have not had the 5th wheel out yet but my expectations are pretty high after the improvement I have experienced with the other trailer. Some would argue that since my camper has shocks this is redundant. My answer to that is, "shocks and springs have different jobs". Very easy to install. Only took 2.5 hours total for both sides.
SUBSTANTIAL improvement on the camper suspension. We tow a 40’ travel trailer and were getting tossed all over the place in the F350 Superduty. Between these and the air jounce springs, we can leave everything on the counters in the kitchen. I cannot imagine towing without them any more.
I replaced my leaf springs, drums, brakes and added the Dexter E-Z Suspension kit to my Keystone Cougar Fifth Wheel trailer last year. This was my first time working with etrailer and I can’t say enough about how well it all went from the ordering to the install.
Tammie P did a amazing job with knowing what parts would work best on my trailer. Tammie also gave me updates on my deliveries that I appreciated. I had a trip planned short after I received my parts. So having someone at their end checking on arrival dates helped. In the future I will definitely use etrailer for all my trailer needs. Thanks again for all the help! Great Team....
My trailer was due for some maintenance cuz everytime I was returned when the axles twist there's a lot of popping crack on going on this is when you know you need to change out the bushings and shackles. But with these pins you can keep the pins greased. I have 6540 lbs inside trailer all the time. So now the trailer rides a little. Plus the it quiet things up when I now turn.
This is an awesome upgrade for any dual axel trailer. Very heavy duty compared to the stock parts. Much smoother ride. All of the wear points can be greased.
etrailer was prompt in shipping this item and it arrived on time.
I just opened the box and was disappointed to see that everything was just thrown in the box. Just looking at it it looks like some of the threads are damaged from the way everything is packaged. It will be a while before I will be installing this product.
I want to say that the service from etrailers was outstanding!! From fast shipping and great price I couldn't be happier with etrailer.
We replaced the leaf springs and the equalizers at the same time with products from etrailer.com. The Dexter equalizers were much better than the stock product and easy to install. The leaf springs were exactly the same as those we could purchase locally and at a significantly reduced price. Well done etrailer.
Outstanding performance parts and delivery time. Only drawback were the installation instructions that looked like they had been photocopied 20 times on the same page. Not a problem as there was enough instruction on line. Defiantly use e trailer again!
I installed the E-Z Flex Dexter K71-652-00 suspension system which was an easy afternoon task. Everything went together without any problems and was quite simple. We traveled on our first short trip of 650 miles with the new system and was great. The 30' KZ travel trailer road smoother and seem to handle better.
I really recommend this system up-grade to all stock suspension systems with plastic bushings and steel equalizer.
Appears to be a good up grade to the trailer suspension … the only problem is the installation videos are very very misleading. It’s a difficult job for the average shade tree mechanic. !!
Good product. Definitely a lot more heavy duty than they stock setup on the trailer. I love the fact that all the pivot points have grease fittings so I can keep it properly lubricated.
Smoothed out the ride on our 5th wheel , took all the jerkyness away. Love the greasable pins !
Awesome product!
Shackles were in up position before trailer was set down
After one year and about 7000 miles of towing, these have held up very well and provide a very smooth towing experience.
The robust shackles are twice as thick as my stock shackles and the wet bolts make greasing easy to reduce wear. One small issue: one of our leaf spring eyes was a little out of round, squeezing the brass bushing a bit as we inserted it, making that particular wet bolt very hard to grease. Aside from that, easy install. The rubber cushions on the equalizer still look great. Very happy with them.
This suspension kit made a night and day improvement. Trailer pulls better, quite with less jerking and a smoother ride. Our Trailer should have come with this when new.
Great product!!! I installed the the kit on a travel trailer just before a 7500 mile trip around the country!!!! Installation was straight forward and the product preforms great !!!!!
These equalizers were easy to install on my 26+ year old fifth wheel. The kit included everything needed for installation, and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. They have performed well, the trailer now rides much quieter and is a great DIY upgrade.
