Absorbs Road Shock and Reduces Chucking

Upgrade your trailer's suspension for a smoother ride with these cushioned Road Armor equalizers. The rubber cores effectively absorb vibrations and bumps and reduce the back-and-forth movement known as chucking. Unlike standard cast equalizers, the Road Armor rubber rotation stops soak up this energy like a sponge instead of transferring it to your trailer and cargo. The result is a more comfortable ride with less wear and tear on your trailer.

360 Degrees of Protection

The Road Armor equalizers have double the protection of most aftermarket equalizers, each with 4 rotation stops for 360-degree protection. When your trailer's leaf spring encounters road shock, it will kick the Road Armor's lead side vertically up to 1-1/2", while the trailing side will push down up to 1-1/2". The opposite reaction happens on the other side of the equalizer when the trailing axle incurs the same road vibration, allowing for 6" of total travel capability per equalizer.

Easy Installation

Lippert Equalizer

It's easy to upgrade your trailer's standard suspension with a set of cushioned Road Armor equalizers. You will need 10 standard suspension bolts and 8 shackle straps (each sold separately) to incorporate the equalizers into your trailer's suspension system. Two of the suspension bolts will be used to suspend the equalizers from the center hangers, and the other 8 bolts will be used with the shackle straps to attach the equalizers to the double-eye leaf springs. If you would like to replace the bolts that attach the springs to your front and rear hangers as well, you will need 4 additional suspension bolts (sold separately).

Installed these with the Dexter Bronze Bushings and Lippert AP wet bolt kit. No more clanking and banging from the trailer going down the road and especially making tight turns.

@Dan Great to hear. Thank you for the update.

I saw these on a Facebook RV site and after doing some research, I decided purchase them to help lessen some of the road shock from the terrible U.S. roads. As we know the quality control on RV construction is not the best. I figured anything I could due to prevent some of the road stress on the camper, was a good thing. I was very happy with the quality of theses equalizers, they are really a heavy duty product. I had them installed at the tire dealer while he was putting new tires on the RV. This saved some labor costs as the already had the tires off. I am a DIY person, but I did not feel comfortable dealing with the tension on the leaf springs. I did purchase wet bolts and bigger brackets to go with these, the customer service rep at etrailer help me select all the parts to make sure they were compatible with my camper.

We've been RVing for 15+ years. When purchasing a new RV the first improvements we made are the installation of a Morryde Shackle Upgrade Kit, a tandem axle Equalizer and new Tow Max Tires. The high quality Morryde Shackle Upgrade Kit is easy to install and provides the strength needed to deal with the stresses of cornering with a tandem axle trailer. The greaseable shackle bushing ensure suspension longevity and peace of mind while on the road. Now we can enjoy a smoother, quieter towing experience.
By the way, we just finished spring 2024 maintenance that included greasing the Morryde Shackles, repacking the bearing, adjusting the brakes, inspecting rims/tires/brakes and torquing the lug nuts. It's kinda satisfying for a 76+ year old veteran.

by:

I would give these equalizers 5 stars for performance but due to packaging I will drop them to a 4 star. Our trailer tows considerably better after installing these. After a bump, the trailer smooths out without the chucking that I was used to. Packaging wise, the bolts from one equalizer marred the powder coated finish of the other in transit.

I am glad that you are happy with the kit. We do not currently carry the zerk fitting by itself however I will have Customer Service reach out to you.

by:

We bought this last year I believe that they are doing well. Installed with new springs and wet bolts the springs do not seem to be holding up but these are doing great, they were just part of the upgraded suspension holding up and doing the job!

It’s been a year, and as far as I can tell these are working and doing just as stated. I grease the wet bolts the first of every month, and check my suspension, we are full time and do not need any surprises, life hands us enough. Thes are working and holding up to our toy hauler with 2 Harley’s in the back we are heavy, and these are holding up fine.

by:

I bought the Road Armor Shock Absorbing Equalizer Kit because I camp mainly in the back woods of Montana and always worried my shackles wouldn't hold up under all the stress I was putting them through . I'm satisfied that Road Armor will handle the trips.

by:

Control and ride are much better than stock. Trailer doesn’t move very much at all.
Wet bolts seem better also. Solid bushings are better than the stock nylon type.

by:

great price, and quick delivery, and these road armors are well built and should hold up better than stock ones

Mark

works great, heavy duty and should hold up for many years

by:

The Road Armor units are heavy duty and appear to be well built. They include bronze bushings so that is a nice upgrade. The packaging is not the greatest so one of my units was scratched up in shipment. (Hint for Lippert - a $0.01 piece of cardboard between the units would prevent the shipping damage). Lucky for me I have a can of blue spray paint that matched almost perfectly so I was able to paint it so it wouldn't rust.

I installed the units without trouble. Everything fit perfectly. I used the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit With 3 1/8" Shackles for the installation and to upgrade to bronze bushings and wet bolts.

I towed the RV on a short test run and it definitely reduces chucking when going over bridge joints, pavement imperfections, etc.

etrailer was easy to buy from. Their pricing was very competitive with other online retailers and their tech support is way better than most. My order was processed quickly and they followed up with me to ensure I was happy with my purchase. Another good experience with etrailer.

by:

Road Armor unit was well packed on its own box, each unit was bubble-wrapped and secured with plenty of packing paper to prevent damage during shipping. No issues whatsoever.

by:

Great product everything went together without any problems, can't wait to see how the camper tows done the road. Thanks Jamea at E trailer.

by:

Finally quit raining long enough to install these myself. Great instructions. Simple install for anyone with basic mechanical knowledge. Minimum amount of tools needed. And WOW what a difference in the ride and towing. I could tell on the first trip that the 5th wheel I was towing, was not receiving the road shock it had before. The factory ones weren't bad, but these are far better. And a great time to check the brake's and repack the bearings. A "ounce of prevention" ya know!

5/17/2021

Just as I expected. It seems that the drawers and doors stay closed now. That tells me that the whole trailer is getting a smoother ride over bumps and potholes.

by:

Absolutely fantastic product! Makes trailer much smoother!

by:

After watching many YouTube videos on upgrading my suspension, I finally went to etrailer. Both the products, instructions, and packaging were perfect. When I called in to place my order, Phillip helped me. He was great and offered great recommendations and help. I will definitely go to etrailer and Phillip again.

by:

We definitely have a smoother ride!
We
still hit sections of cement freeway that cause a hop, but it’s much better.
I would recommend them any tandem !

6/25/2024

Really well, especially since I added new shocks.

by:

First I have got to give the people at etrailer a thank you for the customer service they provided! I have only made one trip since I installed the Road Armor kit. On that trip I found out that the axles had negative camber and both were toed out. So in all fairness I can not review the
LC 696740. Have since had the axles aligned. The next trip will tell.

by:

We have right about 12000 miles on the trailer with these on and the ride and pull is night and day different.

by:

Good Quality Product. Much better than the OEM equalizer. I recommend installing the wet bolt kit at the same time (just like everyone else) The ability to grease the bolts and bushings should greatly improve service life. My suspension squeaked horribly before the upgrade. Now it looks AND sounds good.

by:

Install video and instructions say use the same length shackles as the stock ones. That did not work out for me with 2.25” shackles. I Used the 3 1/8” shackles to be able to install with road armor equalizer on a rogue armored toy hauler with tandem axle 7000lb. Stock equalizer was 7.8” from hole to hole. The road armor is 6”. So I tried the 2.25” shackles and was unsuccessful but the 3 1/8” seemed to work well. My wheel base center of tire to center of tire was 37” and after install was 36”.

by:

I have yet to road test the road armor on the rv. However we have some trips lined up in the coming months and I am excited to see how if there is a noticeable difference. One call out though, It appears that two of the zerk fittings are not working properly. I tested all of them before I installed and that’s when I found out they were not working properly.
Can i order a set to replace them or is there a way to fix it?
I will definitely recommend etrailer to anyone looking to upgrade components on their rv. The support received from start to finish is well worth the extra bucks you pay as opposed to [online].
Thank you etrailer team!

by:

Huge improvement. No need to hesitate. If you’re looking at this option just buy it. Lowest cost solution out there for the level of improvement it provides. For this install I should have bought the HD shackle kit with wet bolts, I just bought shackles and hardware from the local dealer.

by:

These pups are a little spendy but I think they make a huge difference. Look up my review in the electric brakes section you'll see I rebuilt the entire suspension on my trailer, I'm guessing I should be good to go for a while.

by:

Bolts are great quality and nicely made. I hope they hold up much better than stock. It would serve etrailer well in the future to wrap each bolt in bubble wrap. A few in the box arrived with messed up threads. So yeah, that was a bummer. I will have to try and fix the threads if at all possible. Rather than that It will be fun to install it all next month.

by:

Good concept, poor execution. The equalizer has a center pivot, that cannot be accessed or lubricated. My original unit, after about 20,000 miles, wore out. The issue was the center pivot was oblong, basically destroyed. The way to tell, without taking it apart, is the top bushing will be tight and the bottom loose. New they are both tight. I would suggest the factory make this a sealed bearing, such as auto hubs use. More cost probably, but lasting more than a few years.

by:

Such a difference between the factory hangers and these! I will never have another with the original hangers.

I recommend going with the MORryde AllTrek 4000 Equalizers # MR29DR over the Lippert Road Armor # LC696740 on your 2020 Coachmen Chaparral 33TSIK.
