Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Spindles - EZ Lube Spindle - R104BTREZ Review

Today were going to review part number R104BTREZ. This is the Redline EZ Round Spindle. This spindle is an EZ design spindle and basically what that means is it will have a grease zerk fitting on the end of the axle and that will allow you to put a grease gun on there and pump grease in through the internal cavity of the spindle and it will come out this hole right here which is located on the inner bearing surface. Well actually grease your bearings just by pumping grease from the outside as compared to a normal traditional spindle which would not have the zerk fitting and you would have to remove the bearings and have to grease them manually and put them back on. This way you can just grease them while theyre on the trailer. Now this spindle does use a bearing kit which is part number BK1-150, which is sold separately.

That bearing kit will include the inner/outer bearings and their races, the grease seal and everything needed to install onto your spindle. On this spindle there are a few critical measurements that need to be taken and I do a have digital caliper here since the measurements will in /100s of an inch to get a correct measurement. The first measurement is the length of the mounting. This will be mounted onto your axle so the length of the mounting dimension would be 4 inches. Then were going to do the diameter of that mounting dimension and that would be 1.250.

Next measurement would be this part right here and this is the grease seal dimension. On this spindle will be 1.50. The next dimension is this part right here which is the inner seal bearing surface and on that would be 1.06. Next dimension would be out here which is the outer bearing surface and that would be also 1.06. The last measurement would be the diameter of the threaded portion of the spindle which is this part right here and that would be 1 inch even.

Again, this spindle does come with the castle nut, the tang washer, which is a type used for EZ Lube spindles and the D-design washer. That should do it for part number R104BTREZ. .

The ez-lube spindles arrived on time and as advertised. A quick fitment check indicate they will be a simple weld in repair. Its nice to have a single source for trailer repair and the part number/mating part references on your site are very helpful. The video reviews are also very helpful. We will be doing more business in the future. 265479

Ask the Experts about this Redline Trailer Spindles

  • Replacement 1-1/16 Inch Straight Spindle Recommendation
It sounds like you are just needing BTR EZ Lube Spindle # R104BTREZ for your trailer axle. This straight spindle features 1.06 (1-1/16) inch diameters where the inner and outer bearings sit. It also has a 1.500 inch diameter for the grease seal. If you need a complete bearing kit, you can use # BK1-150. I have attached a short video demonstration on this spindle that you can also check out. I do recommend having a qualified welder both remove your current spindle and install the new one.

  • Hubs, Drums, Brakes and Spindle for a 2,000 lb Trailer Axle
Yes, the Electric Trailer Brake Kit, # AKEBRK-2, the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K, and the EZ Lube Spindle, # R104BTREZ, will work together. The brake mounting flange that you will want for this setup is part # 4-34 which should be welded to the end of the axle tube just behind the spindle. The flange must be welded perfectly square to the axle tube to ensure that the correct angle is kept with the camber of the axle tube, so be sure to have an experienced and qualified...

First and foremost, thank you for your service to our country. It is greatly appreciated. Ultimately you are correct that the most accurate way to determine the correct hub and drum assembly is to pull the hub and find the bearing and grease seal numbers or at least use a digital caliper # 301-17068 to measure the spindle where they sit. However, there are a few pieces of info that we can possibly piece together to make an educated guess as to what you have. We do have the Dexter...

For future references, in order to ensure an exact fit, you will need to find the part number on the inside edge of the bearing and make sure it is a compatible fit with your spindle, using our chart. Part # AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-2K requires a inner and outer bearing inner diameter of 1.06" which again is included in the hub kit...

  • Boat Trailer with L44649 Bearings and 1.24 Inch I.D. Grease Seals
The spindles you have on your boat trailer are not standard which means we do not have a trailer hub with the correct bearings and seals you need. However, if you absolutely want to replace the integrated wheel/hub with an idler hub then you would need to replace the spindle with something like part # R104BTREZ which...

  • How Do Trailer Spindles Typically Install on Trailer Axle
Removing a damaged spindle is the easy part - it can be cut off with a torch or saw. But welding on a new one is another matter and requires the new spindle be welded exactly straight. It is actually easier to replace the entire axle with a new one that has good spindles on both ends. This may even be less costly than having a new spindle welded on by a qualified welder. It will also ensure that both spindles will have the same working lifespan, which would not be the case if only one is...

I went to our warehouse to get this part and provide a couple measurements. From the bearing stop to the end of the spindle is 4-1/4 inches (not including the zerk fitting) and the bearing stop is 11/16 of an inch. • Can a 1-1/16 Inch Trailer Axle Spindle Handle Speeds of 75 Miles Per Hour
Spindles typically do not have a speed rating. Traditionally, the component that limits the trailer speed is the tire. My contact at our spindle manufacturer confirmed that the spindle will perform well when the tire speed is complied with. I also recommend servicing your trailer often if you are driving at speeds upward of 75 mph. You will want to ensure the bearings are properly lubricated and red grease, like # L11390, will work well. I've attached a help article on trailer maintenance...

To determine the correct grease seal for your trailer spindle and hub, we need to know the inner bearing number installed on the trailer or the dimensions of the seal surface on the spindle and the seal surface in the back of the hub. This will require removing one of the hubs and the grease seal in that hub.
