Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Spindles - EZ Lube Spindle - R104BTREZ Review

Today were going to review part number R104BTREZ. This is the Redline EZ Round Spindle. This spindle is an EZ design spindle and basically what that means is it will have a grease zerk fitting on the end of the axle and that will allow you to put a grease gun on there and pump grease in through the internal cavity of the spindle and it will come out this hole right here which is located on the inner bearing surface. Well actually grease your bearings just by pumping grease from the outside as compared to a normal traditional spindle which would not have the zerk fitting and you would have to remove the bearings and have to grease them manually and put them back on. This way you can just grease them while theyre on the trailer. Now this spindle does use a bearing kit which is part number BK1-150, which is sold separately.

That bearing kit will include the inner/outer bearings and their races, the grease seal and everything needed to install onto your spindle. On this spindle there are a few critical measurements that need to be taken and I do a have digital caliper here since the measurements will in /100s of an inch to get a correct measurement. The first measurement is the length of the mounting. This will be mounted onto your axle so the length of the mounting dimension would be 4 inches. Then were going to do the diameter of that mounting dimension and that would be 1.250.

Next measurement would be this part right here and this is the grease seal dimension. On this spindle will be 1.50. The next dimension is this part right here which is the inner seal bearing surface and on that would be 1.06. Next dimension would be out here which is the outer bearing surface and that would be also 1.06. The last measurement would be the diameter of the threaded portion of the spindle which is this part right here and that would be 1 inch even.

Again, this spindle does come with the castle nut, the tang washer, which is a type used for EZ Lube spindles and the D-design washer. That should do it for part number R104BTREZ. .

The ez-lube spindles arrived on time and as advertised. A quick fitment check indicate they will be a simple weld in repair. Its nice to have a single source for trailer repair and the part number/mating part references on your site are very helpful. The video reviews are also very helpful. We will be doing more business in the future. 265479

Ask the Experts about this Redline Trailer Spindles

  • How to Determine The Correct Replacement Trailer Hubs by Bearing Numbers or Spindle Size
  • The best way to determine which replacement hubs you need for your trailer would be to remove one of the hubs and retrieve the bearings. Find the numbers stamped into the bearings and with those we will be able to get you the correct hubs. If you are unable to retrieve the bearing numbers, you can take measurements of the spindle. I have included a link to our spindle main page. At the top of the page is a diagram showing all of the measurements we would need to find the correct hubs...

  • Troubleshooting Hub and Spindle Not Fitting Together after Replacing Spindle on a Utility Trailer
  • It sounds and looks to me like you have the wrong hub assembly for the spindle that is welded to the axle on your trailer. The photos you sent clearly show a 1-1/16 inch spindle similar to the EZ Lube Spindle 1.25 RD STUB - 1.06 inch Bearing ID, item # R104BTREZ. This is a spindle for a 2,000 pound axle. The parts that you referenced are for a 3,500 pound axle and definitely will not work on a spindle designed for a 2,000 pound axle. In addition, the photo of the hub that you sent looks...

  • How to Determine the Correct Grease Seals to Order for a 2002 EZ Loader 21 Foot Boat Trailer
  • To determine the correct grease seal for your trailer spindle and hub, we need to know the inner bearing number installed on the trailer or the dimensions of the seal surface on the spindle and the seal surface in the back of the hub. This will require removing one of the hubs and the grease seal in that hub. If you cannot find the inner bearing part number, you will need a precise measuring tool like a dial caliper to get measurements accurate enough to select the correct grease seals. Boat...

  • Availability of Bearings, Seals, and Cap For 2002 Trailstar Trailer
  • The best way to determine the correct parts for your 2002 Trailstar trailer is to disassemble a hub on one side of the trailer and get the bearing part numbers that are stamped on the bearings. There is an inner and outer bearing. With these part numbers I will be able to determine the bearings, seals, and other parts you might need for your trailer. I looked up the Trailstar trailers and it looks like they use the EZ Lube hubs. The EZ Lube system will have a zerk fitting on the end...

  • Grease Seal and Cap for 5 Lug Trailer Hub with Grease Fitting
  • It sounds like you have an EZ-Llube spindle, # R104BTREZ, for a 2,000 lb axle made by Dexter Axle. You should check your axle capacity to be sure. If this is the correct spindle the matching matching seals would be the # RG06-020 grease seals, and the matching grease caps would be the # RG04-040 caps with plugs for the EZ-Lube spindle. If you measure the diameter of the seal surface in the hub you should get 1.987 inches and the diameter of the grease cap surface should measure 1.986...

  • EZ-Lube Spindle for L44649 Bearing and 10-60 Grease Seal
  • On the spindle # R104BTREZ, the 1.25 inch refers to the diameter of the stub, not to any of the bearing surfaces, which might be what is confusing you. (See photo). If you currently have the # 8-271-7UC3-EZ hubs that use the L44649 inner and outer bearing, the # R104BTREZ would be the compatible EZ Lube spindle. Part # BK1-150 would be the correct bearing/ seal kit that uses the double-lip seal which we recommend for the EZ-Lube spindles. For your hub bore, you would use the grease cap...

  • Need Replacement Trailer Idler Hub for 3500-lb Axle Using Outer Bearing # L44649
  • If your current axle is rated at 3500-lbs and your hubs use a 5-on-4-1/2 bolt pattern and outer bearing # L44649, then we have two options for replacement hubs. These hub kits include the hub and wheel stud assembly, lug nuts, grease seal, pre-installed inner and outer races, inner and outer bearings, and a grease cap. It is usually very hard to measure used grease seals since by the time they are removed from the spindle they can become deformed or misshapen. Original part numbers...

  • Replacement 1-1/16 Inch Straight Spindle Recommendation
  • It sounds like you are just needing BTR EZ Lube Spindle # R104BTREZ for your trailer axle. This straight spindle features 1.06 (1-1/16) inch diameters where the inner and outer bearings sit. It also has a 1.500 inch diameter for the grease seal. If you need a complete bearing kit, you can use # BK1-150. I have attached a short video demonstration on this spindle that you can also check out. I do recommend having a qualified welder both remove your current spindle and install the new one.

  • Hubs and Spindles to Go with 5.70-8 Trailer Tire and Wheel Combo with 4 on 4 Bolt Pattern
  • Since you need tires and wheels, hubs, and spindles the best solution is to go with a complete axle with 4 on 4 hubs to match tire and wheel combo # AM30080. Spindles are difficult to install because they require a special jig and someone with experience to weld them on. With a complete axle, its all ready to go. I have included a link to the axles we have with 4 on 4 hubs for you. Otherwise you could use hub # 8-91-05UC1-EZ with spindle # R104BTREZ and everything will be compatible...

  • Can a 1-1/16 Inch Trailer Axle Spindle Handle Speeds of 75 Miles Per Hour
  • Spindles typically do not have a speed rating. Traditionally, the component that limits the trailer speed is the tire. My contact at our spindle manufacturer confirmed that the spindle will perform well when the tire speed is complied with. I also recommend servicing your trailer often if you are driving at speeds upward of 75 mph. You will want to ensure the bearings are properly lubricated and red grease, like # L11390, will work well. I've attached a help article on trailer maintenance...

  • Choosing Replacement Spindles for 4-on-4-Inch Wheels on Light Duty Cart
  • Spindles need to be selected based on the set of bearings used in the hubs that will be installed on them. For example, the hub you referenced, 4-on-4-inch # 8-91-05UC1-EZ from Dexter, uses part # L44649 for its inner and outer bearing. If your current hub uses these bearings you can use EZ Lube Spindle # R104BTREZ. We also offer a bearing/race/seal kit for this spindle, part # BK1-150, that uses this same bearing set. • For a hub with a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern that can fit 13 inch wheels with the pilot diameter of 2.5 inches the part # 8-91-05UC1 would be what you would need. For a white rim to fit this the part # AM20222DX would work well. Then for a spindle for the hub to fit on you would want the part # R104BTREZ.

  • Which Grease Seal for Trailstar Boat Trailer
  • I don't have reference that lists which grease seal the hub on your trailer uses. In order to recommend the correct grease seal, I'll need some information from you. I'll need the inner bearing reference number and the diameter of the spindle where the grease seal rides. When you measure the spindle diameter, you'll need to use a highly accurate measuring tool like a digital caliper. Once I have that information, I'd be happy to recommend a grease seal for you.

  • What is the Spindle Length Where the Hub Fits on the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System
  • The spindle that is used on the Timbren Axle-Less suspension system, # ASR1200S02, is spindle # R104BTREZ. I took some measurements of the spindle. From the inner bearing stop to the threaded portion is 3-5/16 inches. To the end of the threads it is 4-3/16 inches. And to the end of the zerk fitting it is 4-1/2 inches. I made a video that explains where exactly I measured.
