The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
Surface-mount lights install flat against the surface of the trailer, so a hole does not need to be cut into the trailer for the light. This type of light is installed using a flange or bracket that has mounting holes. And mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Optronics Thin Line LED trailer tail light. This trailer light's going to serve three functions: it's going to serve as your stop light, tail light, and turn signal light. It's going to feature a sonically sealed waterproof housing and lens unit that can be submerged in water. The Thin Line series has a really nice low profile design, so that way it can fit into tight spaces. LEDs are going to make great replacements for incandescent lights. They're going to last longer, they're going to burn brighter, and they're much more efficient.
You don't have to worry about replacing bulbs and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. We're looking at a polycarbonate lens and housing. It's going to have a clear lens with red LEDs. It's going to contain nice diodes or nine LEDs. It is a three wire pig tail, so it's going to provide your ground wire, your running light wire, power wire, and your stop and turn signal wire. the unit is Department of Transportation compliant.
It's designed to be a surface mount installation. Your hardware's not included. It has two mounting holes located one on each end. It does include the mounting pad. It's got the cut outs for the hardware as well as the cut out for the wiring at the back.
Taking a look at the dimensions real quick, it's going to give us an overall length measurement. It's going to measure if inches. The distance that we have between the mount holes is going to be 14 and 1/8th. The unit is going to measure an inch and a half tall, and then the depth is going to measure 5/8ths of an inch deep. Again, it's going to contain 9 LEDs, the power draw at 12.8 volts for the stop light at 0.35 amps, and for the tail light is 0.22 amps.
Optronics is also going to put a lifetime warranty on the LEDs. I want to go ahead and hook it up to our external power source, that way we can see what it looks like with power running to it. We'll also be able to turn off our over head light so you can see it in a low light setting. We'll go ahead and connect our white wire to our ground connection, black wire's the power wire, that's going to be for the tail lights, and then the red wire's going to be for the stop and turn signals. This is going to be the tail light function. It sends out a nice, consistent signal. Again, clear lens with red LEDs, and then when we apply our brakes you can see how that increases the light output and it's going to do that same thing when we activate our turn signals. That's going to do it for today's look at the Optronics Thin Line LED trailer tail light.

These are garbage. They don't work anymore, and didn't after only 3 months of ownership.

It is a shame to hear the light stopped working so quickly. This light does have a limited lifetime warranty on the LEDs. If you still have the light then I can send the warranty instructions to you.

Lights look good at night and are very bright for other drivers to see. I'm reasonably disappointed by the quality/longevity of the product though. I have had continued LED failures on multiple lights and ultimately end up replacing the lights every 10-12 months due to failures.
