Video Transcript for What to Know About the Miro-Flex LED Tail Light

Today we're going to review part number STL35CCRB. This is the Optronics Miro-Flex, LED Waterproof, Red Rectangular Stop/Turn/Tail Light. This clear, red, rectangular light with the clear lens serves three functions, stop, turn and tail light functions. It uses a crystal clear lens and a red color chrome reflector. It is a sealed, waterproof housing and lens unit, all one piece. This is a great replacement for incandescent lights. There's no bulbs to replace, no brittle filaments to break.

It does use the Miro-Flex technology. This increases your light output while using 90% less energy than the incandescent bulbs. It gives you a nice, clean appearance while it maintains your traditional footprint. It is corrosion resistant. As you can see there are 16 red LED's and then the clear lens over it. This does conveniently accept the industry standard 3-prong plug.

We do sell those separately for installation. Also this will mount flush mount with the rubber grommet, we also sell that separately. I do want to show you those pieces. This is the rubber grommet that would work for it. We sell it separately, it's part number A33GB.

Basically you would just pop your light, just like that, into the grommet and just like that gives you a flush mount. They do offer two types of 3-prong plugs. The first one is the straight 3-prong plug, that's this one here. Again, it's sold separately. It's A45PB. Basically you just line the three pins up with the holes, plug it in.

You can see this one is considered a straight 3-prong plug. The reason they say that is the wires will come straight out the back of the light. Your other option depending on your application, they do also offer a right angle 3-prong plug. It's part number A47PB. Again this one when you plug it in you can see that the wires actually come out at a right angle to the light itself. Depending on which one you need, you can get either one. Those are required for installation. I do want to give you some measurements on the light itself. Overall length edge to edge is going to be right at 5-5/16". Overall height from top to bottom is going to be right at 3-7/16". The depth of this right here is going to be right at 1-1/2". On this end where you have the plastic housing that protects the plug, that's going to give you a total length of about 2-5/16". This light is Department of Transportation approved. This LED light at 12.8 volts will draw about .267 amps for the stop and turn circuit and draws about .02 on amps for the tail light circuit. There is a life time warranty on the LED's. What I'm going to do now is we're going to take one of the 3-prong plugs, I'll take the straight one, go ahead and plug it in. Then we're going to hook up the wires. I just want to show you how bright it is and the functions it offers. The three wires coming out, the white with the eyelet is your ground. The black and the red would be your power wires. The red is for your stop and turn signal, black is for your tail lights. We'll go ahead and hook this up, hook the ground, we'll hook the red up to the stop and turn circuit and then the black one is your tail light circuit. With those all hooked up I'll go ahead and turn off the overhead lights. Turn on the power. You'll be able to see, there's your tail light circuit. Then your brake lights. When your brake lights come on you can see how brighter it gets. Then for your turn signals. I'll go ahead and turn off the power, turn back on our overhead lights.
