Optronics Light Dimensions

Sonically Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.

P2-Rated or P3-Rated Lights

Diagram of light spread for P2 rated light

A P2-rated or P3-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Video Transcript for Optronics Miro-Flex LED Clearance or Side Marker Light Review and Installation

How to safety conscious travelers. Today, we're going to be taking a look at Optronics Clear Lens Amber side marker lights. To give you an idea of what these lights are going to look like when they're installed, up here in the front I've got our nuclear lens light, and on the fender back there we've got our old Amber lens light. Now, when they're both on, they look, for the most part, fairly much the same. The clear one here is a little bit brighter, and it does look a little bit more clear, as far as how the lights are on the inside. On video, they look about the same.

Where you're really going to notice it is also when they're turned off. This one's going to look much better than that old Amber style lens. Here you can see our old Amber lens, and it just looks like an old worn out trailer. Our new lens here really updates it, and gives it a clean modern book. This two and a half inch side marker light is going to make a great upgrade for existing incandescent bulbs, or a replacement for a damaged bulb. It has three LEDs on the inside that produce a bright Amber light, with a clear lens.

This gives it a more modern look, having the clear lens with colored lights, and it produces a brighter light than your typical incandescent lights would. Being LEDs on the inside, it also will last considerably longer, as LEDs typically last about 50 times longer than incandescent bulbs. They also draw less current, so if you wanted to add more LED lights onto your trailer, you could do so, and this would allow you to draw less power than if you had incandescent lights. And this is what it's going to look like when our lights are off. You can see it's got a nice clear lens with chrome backing.

It also comes with a new grommet. If your old grommet is worn out, damaged, or brittle, you can replace it. And it's also a nicer look than what your old worn out one's going to have. It just helps you to keep everything looking nice and clean. This light has a P2 rating, so it's going to be acceptable for side marker lights. And it's going to be DOT compliant in all states, keeping you safe and legal.

Amber lights are designed to be installed on the front of your trailer. If you need ones for the rear, then you would want to use red lights. We also have those available here at etrailer.com. One last thing I'd like to mention, that this light is going to be waterproof and submersible, so if you have a boat trailer or something that's going to be continually getting wet, this is going to make a great replacement or upgrade for those, as well. You can see here why we're going to be replacing our old light with our new light here. The new light's a standard two and a half inch, and it also has your standard connector on the back, so in most cases you're going to be able to just plug it right in. It does come with a pigtail though. If your trailer doesn't already have the standard connector, then you can wire it in and then you're now all set. It also comes with a replacement grommet. If your old grommet has been damaged. Let's go ahead and get the old one out. We're just going to pop it out using the screwdriver. Pushing along the backside to give it a hand. When they get old and brittle like this, they do tend to want to come apart in pieces. Then, we'll disconnect the electrical connector on the back side. You can see there it's that standard connector that we can plug right into our new light. We'll then pull out our old grommet. You can use your screwdriver to help pop it out of there. And now we can put in our new light. We're just working the grommet around until it sits flush all the way around. We can then put our new light in. It just pops into place, and then we're going to plug it in here on the backside. We can then just plug in our connector right back in to our light. Now, with your light, you will also receive a connector. If your trailer just has wires here, you could upgrade it so that way you can have a standard connector, as well. Ours already had some grease on it, but if you want to grease your old connector, you can. If you need some dielectric grease, you can pick some up at etrailer.com here. We're now ready to turn our lights on to see if they work. You can do this by plugging in your truck, and then just turn the lights on in your truck. We're going to go ahead and turn the lights on now, and there we go. We can see our new light is working properly. And that completes our look at Optronics Clear Lens Amber side marker lights.

Great looking lights. Very bright especially for just 3 diodes. I bought another brand of lights. Not going to say their name but, their initials are PartSam. They said their lights were submersible but, no they weren't. They took in water the first time I backed in the water. My E Trailer lights work fantastic and they did not take in any water and they work great. I highly recommend them.

Review from a similar Miro-Flex in Trailer Lights

This fixture was the exact replacement for my 2011 Trailmanor 2720 trailer. The manufacturer had moved to a more modern looking fixture. I was even able to use the old chrome piece from the old fixture to keep a uniform age look. I installed a wireless rearview camera and needed a new fixture and its longer wires to make everything work. May look a little strange, but it works like a charm. E-Trailer service was excellent as usual.

Comments
The fixture is still hanging in there. No issues.

Review from a similar Miro-Flex in Trailer Lights

These side markers (both red and amber LED) are great for my 12' trailer. They have 3 LEDs (you can also get 4), and their size is perfect for a small trailer. The LED's are really bright, not only at night, but also during the day, so they are easily seen. I especially like the fact that they are sealed, so there should be no water intrusion problems in the future. I have included a few pictures, the first showing the round LED brake/turn/running/reverse lights (that I had purchased earlier from etrailer) with the red side marker mounted vertically on the outside. The second shows a side view of the red side marker light, and the 3rd picture shows the side marker mounted to a small piece of 1" X 1" x 1/8" aluminum angle which I painted black to match the mounting frame of the round LED lights. I mounted the LED side marker to one leg of the aluminum angle, then mounted the other leg with 1" standoffs to two holes already present on the black mounting frame of the round LED light. Although all the lights are sealed against water intrusion, I decided to mount them on each side of the trailer at the top of 2 PVC pipes, about 36" long each, where the lights would not be exposed to immersing in water when launching/retrieving a boat.

Comments
After a year, the lights are still bright as ever. One of them even survived being drug down the highway for 100 yards when the PVC pole it was mounted to came out of its holding fixture!!

Review from a similar Miro-Flex in Trailer Lights

I installed these lights in a [email protected] teardrop camping trailer. The grommet would not work on this style trailer so I installed the lights using a silicone adhesive the same as the original Peterson lights. eTrailer delivered them in the same timely manner I have come to expect from them and the LEDs were easy to install. These lights are blindingly bright - simply amazing. I had rear lights with 1157 bulbs which I had upgraded to 2357 bulbs and equipped the tow vehicle with a powered converter but the light output was dim by today's standards. These lights are twice as bright on running lights and about 4 times brighter on the brake/turn signal elements. The thing we all fear when towing is being hit from behind by a driver that does not see our running, brake or turn signal lights in time. I know these lights will vastly improve the safety and visibility of our trailer. Thanks!

Comments
These lights are great and you have sold a number of them to our friends now.

Great trailer light! Well built, fits the trailer like a glove. No issues after a year of putting it in and out of the water on my boat trailer. Bright too.

Review from a similar Miro-Flex in Trailer Lights

These are a perfect upgrade on my jet ski trailer which was constantly burning bulbs maybe because the lights were not watertight. No amount of dielectric grease prevented it. These were easy to install. They are watertight and are twice as bright as the old ones. Great customer service! I highly recommend the lights and etrailer.com!

Comments
They are still working well and could not be happier. They are bright and a perfect upgrade. I had the marker lights go out briefly but only due to a dirty ground. Other than that, perfection! Thanks for following up! That’s ideal customer service.

Review from a similar Miro-Flex in Trailer Lights

These lights are of very good quality and are really bright. I use them on an early 70's Bronco for the front turn signals. Day or night, they are distinct and unique and best of all, . Definitely visibly on during the night AND the day (this can be seen in the photo taken on a Snow day, bright, while half way out of my garage). Great price for a great product

Comments
The LED lights are great. Im very satisfied with them. They have held up well and work like a charm with a distinct look to them as well.

Review from a similar Miro-Flex in Trailer Lights

I received the lights and tested them; they worked fine. They are destined to be used on a car, not a trailer. Side marker lights for cars/trucks are rare now because they are incorporated into the front and rear light assemblies and rap around the vehicle. The lights I ordered from you are the only ones I could find that had a hole-mount pattern wide enough to clear the metal cutouts, under the old lights, in the fenders of my car. I'm glad you have a huge selection to choose from. I'm not sure when I'll get around to installing them. The car is undergoing a restoration for the third time. All I know is the next time I remove the stock side markers, they will shatter. Few trim parts are available for this car these days and nylon snap-in mounting tabs dry rot and break after a couple of decades. I bought this little car new 26 years ago and took it around the world with me before I retired from the Air Force. I attached a picture of it from the last touchups 7 years ago. It won't quit running so I keep giving it new birthdays. This little rat car has become a part of my DNA. 1991 GEO Tracker 4x4. Original owner.

I put these on the side of a 39 foot travel trailer mostly for the people next to me while towing. They are bright and useful. I do not care for the fact that they light up when the brakes are applied. Other than that they are all good.

Review from a similar Miro-Flex in Trailer Lights

I ordered a cheaper version of these lights and they lasted two trips down the boat ramp. I decided to up grade to these higher quality lights for my boat trailer and I have had only great results with no problems. They are water proof and highly visible in the day and night time. Get you a set you will not regret your purchase.

GREAT Ive had no problem with these lights. They have been in the water hundreds of times and are still in great shape.

Review from a similar Miro-Flex in Trailer Lights

Super fast shipping! Ordered on Saturday with etrailer's free shipping option and received my order on Tuesday. Thanks! The lights appear to be of high quality. Comes with all necessary hardware, but I used butt connectors instead of the supplied come shaped connectors. Lights are MUCH brighter than the halogen models they replaced; both tail and brake/turn. You could barely see the old taillights in the day time, these are far superior!

Review from a similar Miro-Flex in Trailer Lights

Definitely a major upgrade from the single bulbs that finally went out on my old trailer. Simple as can be when it comes to install them. I did have to run additional ground wires to get to get lights to work when the parking lights are on. Could have been due to the fact my trailer is a tilt trailer? No big deal just a heads up if anyone else is having the same problem. Pictures shows them with parking lights on and brake lights. They're bright that's for sure!

Review from a similar Miro-Flex in Trailer Lights

This product worked great replacing my old dry rotted, screw stripped bulb tail lights(approximately 5"x5.5") on my boat trailer. In fact, they fit in the tail light mount better than the old light. The installation couldn't have been any easier. Special thanks to Cailee V for getting me setup with these tail lights after I ordered a different tail light on my own that didnt work for my project.

These lights are well made and look great. They are a direct replacement for the older version I have. Tinted them to match the trailer. They were very easy to tint as the light surface is very flat.

Review from a similar Miro-Flex in Trailer Lights

Great little lights, and very bright as well. They have been installed on a trailer and submerged many times since installed, and still work great!! Can't beat LED's for brightness and, hopefully, longevity!!! Attached is one picture of the overall trailer, and a closeup of the amber side light. I also have 2 red sidelights that are mounted above water at the rear of the trailer, and they are still working great as well.

Comments
These side lights are bright LEDs and the amber ones have been submerged more than once-and are still working great!! The red side lights are mounted high on the vertical poles, so do not get submerged in water. However, all 4 side lights have been exposed to the weather for over a year, and all are still burning bright!! These are cool little LED lights!!

Review from a similar Miro-Flex in Trailer Lights

When I trailer I typically launch in salt water at the Jersey Shore. These lights have held up well in the last year. These lights are a huge improvement over the standard trailer lights that start rusting almost immediately. E Trailer is my go to when I need trailer parts.

  • What Size Hole Is Needed To Install Sealed Miro-Flex LED Side Marker Clearance ID Light
On the Sealed Miro-Flex LED Side Marker Clearance or ID Light # MCL51CAK it is designed to have a really nice tight fit at the installation surface. Anywhere from a 2 3/4 inch diameter hole to a 3 inch hole would work well for this unit. The actual light without the grommet is outer edge to outer edge is a diameter of about 2 1/2 inches. Adding the grommet adds about 1/8 of an inch to each side. Therefore this product with the grommet attached is 2 3/4 inches.

  • Red and Amber Trailer Clearance Lights with Clear Lenses
You are correct, clear lenses are not made for lights # MC32AB or # MC32RB. The bulbs for both of these lights produce white light so if clear lenses were on them the light would just be white. Unless you found colored bulbs that would fit. We do have red and amber marker/clearance lights with clear lenses though. For example we have # MCL63CAB which is an amber LED light with a clear lens. Other amber options include # MCL13CA2B, # MCL51CAK, # MCL65CAB, # AL91CAB, # MCL17CAB, # 00212336P,...
