Dimension of light

Sonically Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.

P2-Rated or P3-Rated Lights

Diagram of light spread for P2 rated light

A P2-rated or P3-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Video Transcript for Optronics Mini LED Side Marker Light Installation

Today on our trailer we're going to be installing the Optronics Sealed Uni-Lite Mini LED Side Marker Clearance Light with grommet, part number MCL12AKB. We'll also be using some Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connectors in the red color, part number DW05743-5. Here's what our new Optronics side marker light looks like. It has two wires that come off of it. This will be hooked in with the running light circuit. The white wire will be hooked in with the ground circuit or grounded directly to the trailer frame.

You will need to drill a hole. In our case we already have a hole that's in this trailer so that's where we're going to be installing our light. If you don't have an existing hole in the trailer you will need to drill one the size that this light and the grommet fit in nice and tight so that it doesn't fall back out or move around. To install it we'll go ahead and pull our wires through the hole. You'll notice real close right up on top here it says top, so we need to orient the light so that this is on the top side. Can then go ahead and push it into our hole here.

Then we're ready to come up underneath the trailer where we'll be making our wiring connection. This trailer already has a running light circuit wire as well as a ground wire run up in this area so we're just going to be tying directly in with those. Go ahead and strip a little bit of wire back. Here's the heat shrink butt connectors that we're going to be using to make our connections. Go ahead and add them here to the wiring. In this case we'll be taking the brown wire and connecting it to the black wire.

That is the running light circuit. We'll be connecting the white wire to the white wire, as that is the ground. Once we have our connectors crimped down we can go ahead and take our heat gun and seal them off. If you don't have a heat gun a cigarette lighter will work. Just be careful that you keep it moving so that it doesn't burn the wires.

Next we'll go ahead and add a little bit of electrical tape just to give our connections a little more protection. We can then use a zip tie to secure off any excess or loose wiring. Now we'll go ahead and turn our running light circuit on. As you can see here, here's what our new Optronics side market light looks like. With that, that will conclude the installation of the Optronics Sealed Uni-Lite Mini LED Side Marker and Clearance Light with grommet, part number MCL12AKB, on our trailer. .

These 3/4 inch mini LED's were simple and fast to install and are the same commercial grade ones installed on a new trailer I purchased. New horse trailer did not have enough lights on the side and now it looks like a big rig going down the highway at night. The LED's draw very small amp's and you can light up your trailer cheaply, but on a high end product. Order was quickly delivered and this is my second order with etrailer to give you an idea of the professional service you will get. Great lights, great service. 574624

These lights are great. Installed them on a boat trailer that is frequently towed behind my camper trailer. I mounted them on the fenders to face forward, and I can see them in my mirrors when I have the running lights on and also when I use turn signals (two on each side -- four total). Seeing these little LED lights in my mirrors gives me great confidence and peace of mind knowing the second trailer is still there. 293268

The quality of these marker lights are very good. They are sealed well and I am glad to see the wiring has a rubber sleeve for protection. Side Note: Customer Service has been excellent. After placing the order I was kept up to date with the order process via email until the product shipped. Very nice to be provided with information without having to ask !! I am using these for my F150, placing in grill. Unfortunately only test mounted, not permanent yet. Once done, I will upload a picture. No garage, crappy weather, equals delayed installed. Thx, Mark 110068

My customer requested an extended light to keep track of battery voltage. I interfaced the Uni-Lite LED to our LCD-HV Low Battery Alarm and when the voltage dropped at the set point the light came on this was a great warning of low voltage. The light was extra bright and can be seen from a good distant. Very happy with the results of brightness and ease of connections. 528577

Yes, these do match the OE orange marker lights. The color is just about identical in my opinion. I was going for a very clean look and these worked great. I have a few additional pics on the following forum if you are interested.

Great addition to the basic, rear brake lights of a camp trailer. I added these LED RED to the brake/turn function, within the existing, small holes in the rear bumper--much more apparent when stopping/turning. These sealed LED lights are very common on larger trucks and trailers now. Easy to install and very robust assembly...priced right! 396057

These were designed as a clearance light application and at a great price. I bought them to use as turn signal lamps on my RZR. They are high quality and extremely bright when lit, so they work great for both applications. These guys have great parts at a great price and quick shipping. I would recommend them to anyone needing trailer/boat/lighting. Thanks guys. 185171

John, Are these lights clearly visible during the day time? I bought some that look similar but are not bright enough to be seen. Im also using them for turn signals on my RZR.

Lowell C. These lights are bright enough to be seen during daylight. I use them when I am with a group to signal our next direction or 4 way as intent to slow. Everyone behind me have been able to see them even in high dust situation.

Review from a similar Optronics Uni-Lite in Trailer Lights

I bought 6 of these lights to put on my jet ski trailer. 4 amber and 2 red. And they are very bright. I highly suggest putting these lights onto your fenders. I put an amber and a red one on each fender in their appropriate locations of course. It helps when backing up into small dimly lit spaces at night...like a driveway The red ones reflect off of whatever you are backing towards...and the amber ones give you an idea how close you are to walls or trees in the side mirrors. Just be cautious when you put them in. Make sure that in your mind everything is good to go (like, say, the wiring), and you do not need to pull it back out. If you push it in all the way...good luck getting it out. The grommet mushrooms out at the bottom basically locking it in place. If there was a warning about this on this site and I missed it...my bad. I just made sure I left them all loose until I was done, made sure the wires in the trailer (especially the ground wire) were not getting stretched or pinched, as my trailer is old, and then pressed them all in by hand. I made the mistake of pressing one into my passenger fender...just to see how it looked. This was before I started wiring anything. At this point I was drilling the 3/4" holes...which by the way is very time consuming. I spent a few minutes trying to remove it without damaging the wires. No luck. Not even a little did it want to budge. And I was able to get at it from the top and bottom. Thank goodness this didn't happen with the holes I put into the sides of the trailer because I think I may have had to destroy that light just to get it out and wire it up, which would have sucked because I think that would have pissed me off to the point of not even wanting to use the lights anymore and I would have picked something else out. And that would have been a shame because these lights put out an incredible amount of light. When you put them in the first time, they give off a sort of weird glow. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me at first. If you manually adjust the lights to the proper DOT code or whatever, they look good. But, if you rotate them so that they are horizontal instead of vertical, they put out a ton of light towards the street. What I'm saying is...if you want to change it up, you can turn them all horizontal in a matter of seconds, and be lighting up the road...literally...just like the neon vehicle underbody kits of the 90's. Admit it. You thought they were cool too. Now, you can sort of have that, except it's legal. I went overkill on my small trailer. At least I thought I did. Now, after using it at night, I am more than satisfied. What a huge difference these tiny lights make. A++++SELLER. WOULD BUY AGAIN. ASSET TO ETRAILER.COM 147443

What a great idea. Follow up with customers to get feedback. That way you can tell if the products are still good or if they have limited lifespans. You get to see if people are still happy and get them thinking about your company again if theyre in the market for more trailer stuff. To answer your question, I do not have them anymore. I sold all of my gear, but do know they are still working. I really liked those small lights. They put out an incredible amount of light and were easy to install once I drilled holes into my old trailer.

Great item at a great price. Purchased 4 clear with red (2-diodes) to place in my rear step bumper in place of back up sensors for my older truck used as clearance/running lamps. Fitment was up to me being had to locate rubber grommets to adapt to these smaller 3/4" lights to the 1 1/8" bumper holes. I would give these 5 stars but for some reason the black wire is the HOT, while any automotive electrical item I be ever worked on the BLACK was the ground! Opposite here and recommend testing them before you hook up like I did then had to reverse wires.. Silly mistake on my part but why is the black (+) and white (-) ??? Otherwise they're bright and add to my otherwise dark OEM tail lights for increased safety. Pic shown is during daylight! 257083

Shipping was slow, but I can't complain much considering it was free! I chopped the fenders on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler, which involved removing the side marker lights. I installed a pair of these DOT approved lights to meet inspection requirements. As for the lights, they are well-constructed and very bright. Installation was difficult; even after drilling and deburring a 11/16" hole, the grommet barely fit in. I had to put a small amount of grease on the light's lateral surfaces before the light would slide into the grommets. Overall, I am very pleased with the product. Poison Spyder sells an inferior product at several times the price; I am glad I found these here! 105337
