Optronics light dimensions

Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The circuit board is sealed, which means that water will not damage the diodes or circuit board.

PC-Rated Lights

Diagram of light spread for PC rated light

A PC-rated light produces a 90-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 180 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be clearly seen when you are standing directly in front of the light, as well as when you are standing on either side of the light. When properly installed, this type of light can function as both a front clearance light and a side marker light or as a rear clearance light and a side marker light.

Video Transcript for Optronics Trailer Lights - Clearance Lights - MCL11RB Review

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Optronics Uni-Lite LED Trailer Clearance and Side Marker Light. This is a small round trailer light that's going to function as both a clearance light and side marker light when properly mounted. It's going to feature a nice sealed waterproof construction, so the light is submersible. It's going to contain 2 LEDs, or 2 diodes. LEDs are going to make great replacements for incandescent lights. They last longer. They burn brighter.

They're much more efficient. You also don't have to worry about replacing bulbs, and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. This one's going to feature a really nice polycarbonate lens and housing. It's a very strong and durable design. It's going to contain 2 red LEDs, and it's got the nice red lens on it as well. This is designed to be a recess mount installation with a mounting grommet. Mounting grommets are sold separately.

You can find them here at etrailer.com if you need one. The installation is going to require 3/4 inch diameter hole at the desired mounting location. Here on the backside you can see that it has a protective sleeve over the wiring and that it's a 2-wire design, so you're going to have your white wire for ground, your black wire for power. It is Department of Transportation compliant. This is a PC rated light. We're going to take a look at a few dimensions real quick, starting with the overall diameter of the light. That's going to measure about 3/4 of an inch, and then the overall depth, very back to very front, pretty close to 7/8 of an inch deep. It's going to contain 2 diodes.

We're going to go and hook it up to our external power source. That way you can see what it looks like with power running to it, and then we'll also be able to turn off our overhead lights so you can see it in a low light setting. You can see here that the light offers really nice consistent light output. The multi-diode design is going to optimize the light output. Again, it's got 2 LEDs as you can see there.

When it comes to the power draw, at 12.8 volts we're looking at 0.03 Amps, and Optronics is going to put a lifetime warranty on the LEDs. That's going to do it for today's look at the Optronics Uni-Lite LED Trailer Clearance and Side Marker Light.

I installed these on my boat trailer to replace the existing lights that came on the trailer. These lights provide a much cleaner install into the crossbars and are much brighter. Install was very simple as well. 471869

My customer requested an extended light to keep track of battery voltage. I interfaced the Uni-Lite LED to our LCD-HV Low Battery Alarm and when the voltage dropped at the set point the light came on this was a great warning of low voltage. The light was extra bright and can be seen from a good distant. Very happy with the results of brightness and ease of connections. 528577

These are well built marker lights. That are small but supply a huge amount of light. I have been running them on my boat trailer for 3 yrs with no failure. Or any moisture problems in a submersible application. I recently installed them on the Jeep. ONLY MARKER I WILL RUN. 194126

Yes, these do match the OE orange marker lights. The color is just about identical in my opinion. I was going for a very clean look and these worked great. I have a few additional pics on the following forum if you are interested.

These were designed as a clearance light application and at a great price. I bought them to use as turn signal lamps on my RZR. They are high quality and extremely bright when lit, so they work great for both applications. These guys have great parts at a great price and quick shipping. I would recommend them to anyone needing trailer/boat/lighting. Thanks guys. 185171

John, Are these lights clearly visible during the day time? I bought some that look similar but are not bright enough to be seen. Im also using them for turn signals on my RZR.

Great addition to the basic, rear brake lights of a camp trailer. I added these LED RED to the brake/turn function, within the existing, small holes in the rear bumper--much more apparent when stopping/turning. These sealed LED lights are very common on larger trucks and trailers now. Easy to install and very robust assembly...priced right! 396057

I bought 6 of these lights to put on my jet ski trailer. 4 amber and 2 red. And they are very bright. I highly suggest putting these lights onto your fenders. I put an amber and a red one on each fender in their appropriate locations of course. It helps when backing up into small dimly lit spaces at night...like a driveway The red ones reflect off of whatever you are backing towards...and the amber ones give you an idea how close you are to walls or trees in the side mirrors. Just be cautious when you put them in. Make sure that in your mind everything is good to go (like, say, the wiring), and you do not need to pull it back out. If you push it in all the way...good luck getting it out. The grommet mushrooms out at the bottom basically locking it in place. If there was a warning about this on this site and I missed it...my bad. I just made sure I left them all loose until I was done, made sure the wires in the trailer (especially the ground wire) were not getting stretched or pinched, as my trailer is old, and then pressed them all in by hand. I made the mistake of pressing one into my passenger fender...just to see how it looked. This was before I started wiring anything. At this point I was drilling the 3/4" holes...which by the way is very time consuming. I spent a few minutes trying to remove it without damaging the wires. No luck. Not even a little did it want to budge. And I was able to get at it from the top and bottom. Thank goodness this didn't happen with the holes I put into the sides of the trailer because I think I may have had to destroy that light just to get it out and wire it up, which would have sucked because I think that would have pissed me off to the point of not even wanting to use the lights anymore and I would have picked something else out. And that would have been a shame because these lights put out an incredible amount of light. When you put them in the first time, they give off a sort of weird glow. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me at first. If you manually adjust the lights to the proper DOT code or whatever, they look good. But, if you rotate them so that they are horizontal instead of vertical, they put out a ton of light towards the street. What I'm saying is...if you want to change it up, you can turn them all horizontal in a matter of seconds, and be lighting up the road...literally...just like the neon vehicle underbody kits of the 90's. Admit it. You thought they were cool too. Now, you can sort of have that, except it's legal. I went overkill on my small trailer. At least I thought I did. Now, after using it at night, I am more than satisfied. What a huge difference these tiny lights make. A++++SELLER. WOULD BUY AGAIN. ASSET TO ETRAILER.COM 147443

What a great idea. Follow up with customers to get feedback. That way you can tell if the products are still good or if they have limited lifespans. You get to see if people are still happy and get them thinking about your company again if theyre in the market for more trailer stuff. To answer your question, I do not have them anymore. I sold all of my gear, but do know they are still working. I really liked those small lights. They put out an incredible amount of light and were easy to install once I drilled holes into my old trailer.

Great item at a great price. Purchased 4 clear with red (2-diodes) to place in my rear step bumper in place of back up sensors for my older truck used as clearance/running lamps. Fitment was up to me being had to locate rubber grommets to adapt to these smaller 3/4" lights to the 1 1/8" bumper holes. I would give these 5 stars but for some reason the black wire is the HOT, while any automotive electrical item I be ever worked on the BLACK was the ground! Opposite here and recommend testing them before you hook up like I did then had to reverse wires.. Silly mistake on my part but why is the black (+) and white (-) ??? Otherwise they're bright and add to my otherwise dark OEM tail lights for increased safety. Pic shown is during daylight! 257083

Shipping was slow, but I can't complain much considering it was free! I chopped the fenders on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler, which involved removing the side marker lights. I installed a pair of these DOT approved lights to meet inspection requirements. As for the lights, they are well-constructed and very bright. Installation was difficult; even after drilling and deburring a 11/16" hole, the grommet barely fit in. I had to put a small amount of grease on the light's lateral surfaces before the light would slide into the grommets. Overall, I am very pleased with the product. Poison Spyder sells an inferior product at several times the price; I am glad I found these here! 105337

Just installed recently, Lights mount nicely in a 3/4" hole. Wiring harness about 8 inches. Just as bright or brighter than standard size clearance light. They work and look great. I used them on the front of fender step mounted on a 45 angle . Not sure if they meet "reflector" requirements for corner light but works great as indicator to on-coming traffic (and width marker when looking in mirror) and side marker light. As far as reliability or longevity, don't know, but they appear to be well constructed and sealed lights. 94576

Comments

So far theyve still been working well, they are very bright and while towing at night, they light up the yellow line on the highway nicely so I know exactly where my fender is and oncoming traffic can see. I added some yellow reflector tape next to the light so that it meets reflectivity requirements, but as a light, its much smaller, looks cleaner, and less prone to damage than a regular clearnace light

I bought a couple more of these two-diode LED clearance lights to add some more lighting to the rear of my kayak trailer. They work nice and are easy to install in 3/4" holes that I drilled through a piece of aluminum angle. The trailer has orange clearance lights on the front sides, red clearance lights on the back sides, the stop/turn/parking lights on the back, three red clearance lights on the back, and a white LED license plate light. It's really lit up and very visible at night from the rear and sides. Thanks to etrailer.com for great products and services! My wife and I like to kayak, but we don't like to deal with putting our kayaks on roof racks on the top of a car. So I bought a used Load-Rite trailer that was designed to hold one Jet Ski, and added a frame made of slotted angle and 2x6 lumber to hold the kayaks, and a cargo box from Tractor Supply to hold kayak seats, life jackets, towels, sun-protection clothing, and some spare gear (ropes etc), and bought all new LED lighting from etrailer.com. The paddles are too long for the cargo box so they have to go in the car! The kayaks are tied down to the trailer with several ropes front and rear, so there is a lot of safety factor in the design....I don't worry about the kayaks coming off the trailer! The entire rig works great....when we return from a kayak trip we just back the trailer in the barn and it's ready to go for our next trip. I put a 5" diameter wheel on the trailer just behind the hitch so I can push it around on flat level surfaces. See the pictures. 296904

Comments

Those lights, and all the lighting and trailer wiring products that I bought from etrailer.com, are working great! I used to have constant problems with the lights on my trailer until I switched everything out to the LED lights from etrailer.com! Now they work every time we use the trailer knock on wood!.

Nice bright lights. I used for corner and fender marker lights on my car trailer. The grommet that comes with these is really stiff and is install once, then impossible to remove without damaging it. I welded short lengths of 1/2" pipe on my trailer where I installed these, ground a little plastic ridge off the OD of the lights and slid them into the pipe just leaving the tip of the light exposed. 683774

Review from a similar Optronics Uni-Lite in Trailer Lights

I ordered these light to be used as accent light on a new lift table for my company. I needed low profile and fairly bright red light to be reflected off our off-white power coat. These little lights out preformed what we were hoping for. The only thing I don't like about them is the instructions say to drill a 11.16" hole. Assembly was WAY too tight at that dimension. So we stepped it up a fraction at a time and found that 17/64" (.73) and 3/4" (.75) were perfect. Even at 3/4" the grommet was snug and water tight. The light had to be squeezed into place but at 11/16" I felt like I was about to brake the light. Overall I am super pleased with the lights. We added them to the Bill of Materials and we will be ordering them for these new carts. 620141
