The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
A P2-rated or P3-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Optronics LED trailer clearance or side marker light. The round trailer light features a sonically sealed design so it's got a water proof housing and lens unit that is submersible. LEDs are going to make great replacements for incandescent lights. They last longer. They burn brighter. They're more efficient and you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments.
This light is going to feature a red lens, polycarbonite construction which is very strong and durable. It's a recessed mount with the included black grommet. The installation requires a 2 5/16" diameter hole at the desired mounting location and it's going to come with the industry standard 2 prong plug that provides your 2 wire design, so your ground wire and your power wire. The unit is Department of Transportation compliant. This is a P2 rated light. If we take a look at the dimensions real quick, just measuring the light.
That's going to be about 2". The grommet, outer edge to outer edge looks to be closer to 2 3/4". The depth not including the plug, we're looking at a depth of about 1". If we do include the plug, that's a 90 degree plug, we're looking at a little bit closer to an 1 1/2" more so, 1 3/8" right in that area. It's going to contain 3 LEDs so it's got a multi dial design. The power draw at 12.8 volts is 0.06 amps and Optronics puts lifetime warranty on the LEDs.
We're going to go and hook this up to our external power source. That way you can see what it looks like when powering to it. We'll also be able to turn off our overhead lights so you can see it in a low light setting. Here you can see the light sends out a really nice strong consistent signal. Again, 3 LEDs so the multi dial design helps optimize the light output.
This light's going to function as a clearance or side marker light. That's going to do it for today's look at the Optronics LED trailer light.

The light grommets and electrical connectors work great. etrailer, packs and ships, whatever I have ordered, with care and I have not ever received a damaged item. etailer does an excellent job and I look to them first for my trailer and truck parts and accessories.
Replaced all the incandescent bulbs on my trailer with LEDs. These fixtures fit the hole that the old ones came out of and the existing two prong connectors fit as designed to the new fixtures. Was a simple process to pop out the old lights and install the new ones. Happy with the performance and look of the new LED fixtures, also the lower load on the electrical system of the tow vehicle.
Ordered item was received in excellent condition. The LED Trailer side marker light fit perfectly in the steel light guard . That I ordered several weeks ago. Then this spring I'll install tail light guard on boat trailer.
