Leaf springs, as you probably know, make up an important part of your trailer's suspension. Their main purpose is to absorb road shock as you travel, as well as allow your axle(s) to move independently of the rest of the trailer.
To mount this leaf spring, you'll need hangers welded onto your trailer frame - which you probably already have in place - as well as shackle straps and a suspension bolt. It's a good idea to replace your existing straps and bolt while you're under there working on things because they tend to wear out quickly. One thing that could help keep them from wearing out too fast would be upgrading to galvanized or zinc-plated hardware. Doing so will boost the corrosion resistance and, therefore, the longevity of your trailer.
We also always recommend replacing both of your springs at the same time because it's not unusual for leaf springs to sag and elongate over time. If you replace just the one, there's a good chance that it won't match your existing spring on the opposite side of your trailer, and that can mess up your alignment.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this 27 inch long four leaf double eye spring for 3,500 pound trailer axles. Now, this leaf spring here will act as part of your trailer suspension system, it provides the attachment point for your trailer's axle. This is for a quantity of one leaf spring. The number of leaves we mentioned is four.
Spring capacity on this leaf is 1,750 pounds. So when this is matched with one on the other side of the axle, it'll meet your 3,500 pound axle capacity. Now, the multiple leaves here allow flexibility to absorb any road shock. Allows for a nice smooth ride that'll reduce wear and tear on the trailer, ensures a level ride on bumpy and uneven surfaces. It is a sturdy steel construction.
If you look on each eyes right here, they do include the nylon bushings. Now the pre-mounted hangers are the aftermarket hanger kit, which is required for installation. Those items we do sell separately on our website. Basically, this spring attaches to the hanger that's mounted on your trailer frame at one end, and then the other end connects to shackle straps suspended from your hanger equalizer. Now, the length is always measured from the center of one eye to the center of the other.
So if we get our tape measure, we go center to center, measure 27 inch measurement, the spring width, 1 3/4 inches. And the eye diameter with the bushing included is 9/16 of an inch. But that should do it for a look at the 27 inch long four leaf double eye spring for 3,500 pound trailer axles.
