When I contacted etrailer customer service, they handled my problem quickly and I had a replacement axle in a couple days. Well done! The products were all of high quality and the assemble was much easier as a result. I have attached a few pictures of the build for those interested. Ask the Experts about this etrailer Trailer Leaf Spring Suspension

  • Spring Hanger and Axle Diameter Measurements for Installing Leaf Springs on Single Axle Trailer
In the attached diagram the A measurement is actually the distance from the center of the spring hangers for a single axle trailer. The spring eye to spring eye measurement for your leaf springs will be slightly different. The B measurement that you see is simply the distance between the center of the axle and trailer frame. I have attached another diagram from the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs # APS3 product page to help demonstrate this. If you have an axle...

  • Where Do the Hangers Need To Be When Using the Trailer Hanger Kit APS3 with a 3,500 Lb Axle
If you are using the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit part # APS3 with the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring part # SP-216275 then you will need to install the leaf springs hangers 22-7/8" apart. In regards to spacing front to back, I have attached a help article for you that will help with this.

  • Can Trailer Suspension Hangers be Bolted On
The top holes you see in trailer suspension hangers such as Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs - 1-1/2" Front, 1-1/4" Rear Item # APS3 are for button welds and not bolts so these hangers should not be bolts on. The problem is that with a weld the hanger is fixed and cannot move. With bolts no matter how tight you make them the bolt will always be smaller than the holes in the hangers and given the forces applied could cause the hangers to shift and throw off the alignment...

  • Single Axle Hanger Spacing Recommendation for a Leaf Spring # SP-212275 and Hanger Kit # APS3
I attached the chart you referenced and it states that when you use a # SP-212275 spring with a hanger kit part # APS3 the hanger distance should be 24-7/8 inches. The length of a spring when new and not installed on a trailer will be slightly shorter than when it flattens out from the weight of the trailer. Once the weight of the trailer is on the spring it will flatten out and be the right length.

  • Hanger Spacing Recommendation for 2,500 lb Leaf Springs on a Trailer
When using the hanger kit part # APS3 with the leaf spring part # SP-219275 you will want to have a distance of 24-7/8 inches on center between the front and rear hanger.

  • Hanger Spacing for Installing 26 inch Long Leaf Springs with Hanger Kit APS3
If you were using the hanger kit part # APS3 with a set of 26 inch long leaf springs the correct hanger spacing you'd need is 25-3/4 inches to ensure you have the correct shackle angle.

  • Comparing the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kits for Double-Eye Springs APS1, APS2, and APS3
When choosing between the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs part # APS1, part # APS2, and part # APS3 it will be best to use the one that has measurements that most closely resemble what is already on your trailer. For example, if your rear leaf spring hangers are 7/8" tall or shorter than you would want to use part # APS1 but if they are taller then this you would want to use part # APS2 or part # APS3. The only difference between the two latter kits is that part #...

  • Can Boat Trailer Replace Slipper Springs With Double Eye Springs?
Yes, you can replace your slipper springs with double eye springs. The Double-Eye Spring # SP-051275 measure 26 inches from center of spring eye to center of spring eye and would work for you; these have a 2,000 lb capacity each though you will need to find springs that match your trailer's capacity as closely as possible. The other thing you would need is a hanger kit such as # APS3, which has 1-1/2" tall front hangers, 1-1/4" tall rear hangers, and 3-1/8" shackle straps. The correct...

  • Differences in the Redline Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kits, # APS1, #APS2, and # APS3
The APS1, APS2, and APS3 are all suspension kits for single-axle trailers with 1-3/4-inch double-eye springs. They are designed for use on trailers with single, 2,000-lb to 7,000-lb axles. The difference in the kits are in the rear hangers and the shackle straps. The Redline Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit, part # APS1, uses the Redline Rear Hanger, part # 30-20, which uses a steel bushing and is .91 inches tall. The shackle straps are the Shackle Strap, part # TRSL313, which are...

  • Replacing Slipper Springs With Double-Eye Springs
There are no U-bolts to attach the slipper part, I recommend replacing your slipper springs with double eye springs. In order to do this you need to know the weight rating of your axle as well as the length from center eye to center eye so you can properly place your hangers. For example, the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # SP-051275 measures 26 inches from center of spring eye to center of spring eye and has a 4,000 lb capacity; you will need to find springs that match your trailer's capacity...

  • How to Determine the Distance for Mounting Trailer Spring Hangers on a Single Axle Trailer
Spring Hanger location dimensions are normally figured by the manufacturer and provided with the spring hanger kit, that includes all of the parts for installing the springs on the trailer frame. I have provided a chart that shows the spring hanger locations for single axle trailers for you to review, see link. There are two considerations for mounting the spring hangers. First, the distance between the spring hangers as you have asked about. Second, the location of the axle when installed...

  • How to Determine the Spacing Between Axles when Building a 4-Axle Trailer
There are several things to consider when positioning axles on a trailer. I have included a picture that will help some but other factors include the springs and other suspension components you will be using. Also, a 4-axle trailer can potentially be a little troublesome because when turning the wheels can scrub (scrape the ground sideways). The closer the axles are together within reason the less likely this is to happen. But on 4 axles I do not think you will be able to avoid it completely. If...

  • Leaf Spring Hanger Options for 8x8 Tilt-Bed Trailer
For the springs, I'd recommend the # SP-169275 spring, which is designed for 2K axles and measures 20-3/8 inches from eye center to eye center. If you need a U-bolt kit for this axle, # APUBR-10 will work well. The hanger kit you use will depend on how much space you want between the axle and the trailer frame. Hanger kit # APS1 provides between 4-1/4 to 4-1/2 inches of clearance. # APS3 would give between 4 and 4-1/2 inches of clearance. # APS4 is 5 to 5-1/2 inches and # APS5 is between...

  • Parts Needed to Add Suspension to Home Built Trailer with 3,500 Pound Axle
On a single 3,500 pound axle trailer I recommend going with 25-1/8 inch springs part # SP-212275. You want to choose springs rated for the same capacity as the axle. Then a popular hanger kit with these springs is part # APS3. All the hardware is included with the hanger kit. I've also linked an on trailer suspension as well as one that may help you determine where to place the axle on your trailer. In addition to the suspension parts I've linked our selection of fenders.
