Video Transcript for etrailer Trailer Suspension - Leaf Spring Suspension - 115918 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a Hanger for Double Eye Springs. This is configured for use as a front, center or rear hanger for double or triple axle applications. It can be used as a front hanger only on single axle applications. It's designed to fit 1 and 3/4 inch wide double eye springs with a 9/16 inch diameter eye, so we can tell that by taking the measurement here. It's that opening measurement, so inside edge to inside edge, you see that edge as about 2 inches. Now that will narrow down to about 1 and 7/8 here at the top, so it's going to fit a 1 and 3/4 inch wide double eye spring perfectly.Again, it works with a 9/16 inch diameter bolt, bolt not included.

It's constructed from durable steel. It's a weld-on installation. Taking a look at the overall dimensions, starting with the overall height, bottom to very top, measures 3 and 3/16 inches tall. Edge to edge, this direction, is 3 inches deep. Outer edge to outer edge right here is 2 and 7/16 of an inch wide, and then the height from the top of the hanger to the center of the bolt hole right here is 2 and 3/8 inches. That's going to do it for today's look at the Hanger for Double Eye Springs..

Look like very good quality material haven't installed as of yet but they should work perfect. Shipped almost immediately after I ordered them and received relatively quickly, and the cost to ship was not horrible for me it is probably cheaper than the gas as I am somewhat rural and have nothing close to go purchase in person and even if I did they would not be as knowledgeable as etrailer and you probably won't get what you actually need. 750201

The trailer shackle brackets worked great and are very strong. I used them to hold my trailer tail gate in the upright traveling position. Today's trailer manufactures make the connections so cheap and they don't last long. The gate will rust off before these brackets brake. I welded one on horizontal to trailer. Cut one in half so it was flat and also welded horizontal to trailer gate raised after lining the holes up for a 1/2" hitch pin. Raise gate and drop in hitch pin, simple and works great. It is an 18' utility trailer with a 5' gate using a gorilla lift system on it because of my senior age and lifting ability. 452480

Ask the Experts about this etrailer Trailer Leaf Spring Suspension

  • Do Trailer Equalizer Heights have to be the Same to Level Trailer Leaf Spring
Hangers come in varying heights to accommodate equalizers that have different heights and different frame clearances but the end goal is to allow the leaf springs to sit as level as possible. The part # 115918 you referenced is the 2-1/2 inch height you are looking for but a different option might be to go with a different height equalizer. I attached a link to a page that has all of the equalizers we carry as well.

  • Will Taller Hangers Lift My Keystone Travel Trailer
The Hanger part # 115918 is going to lift your trailer, how much depends on the hangers that you currently have on the trailer. The difference between the height of your current hangers and these will be how much lift you get on the Keystone. We do carry taller hangers like part # E4139 that measures 4-1/4" tall. Another option for a lift is an over-under kit like part # K71-384-00 for a 2-3/8" axle or part # K71-385-00 for a 3" axle. You are basically moving the springs to on top of...

  • How To Choose The Correct Hanger Width For A Double Eye Leaf Spring
No, the bolts while being tightened down should not cause the hangers to bend inward towards the leaf. This will weaken the hanger and potentially cause it fail. You will need to get new hangers to match your leaf springs or new leaf springs to match your hangers. There should only be around an 1/8" or less of clearance between the leaf spring and hanger. For a 1-3/4" double eye leaf spring, you will want a hanger designed for that width of spring such as the Front/Center/Rear Hanger for...

  • Can Truck with Oversize Tires Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer Level
So ideally your trailer sits as level as possible and you have at least 6 inches between the bed rails and the overhang of the trailer. The main reason you are having a hard time with this is the oversize tires you have on your truck which is adding quite a bit of height. Going to a smaller tire will help and fix the problem. The thing to keep in mind though is that the overall diameter of a tire is split on either side of the axle center. So if you go to a tire that's 2 inches shorter...

  • Replacement Hangers for 3500 LB Tandem Axle
According to the dimensions that you have provided, you will need the Center Hanger for Double-Eye Springs, # 115918. Since your have a tandem axle trailer, you will need to order a quantity of 6 to replace all hangers on the trailer.

  • Should There Be Clearance On The Center Hanger # 115918
You will want a bit of clearance so that the spring will be able to move.If it were any tighter the spring would squeak and wear obsessively. You will not want to add a washer to the Center Hanger, part # 115918. There is clearance to allow the spring to move and so that there will not be squeaking and excessive wear on the the spring and hanger. The hanger that you are replacing more than likely has an elongated hole from wear and tear and bushings that are worn or starting to wear.

  • New Hangers for my Trailer
I've got a solution for you. Unfortunately the CE Smith Front/Rear Hanger Bracket for Double-Eye Springs - part # CE14026G you looked at aren't going to work. I measured the mounting hole on it and they are on 1 9/16" centers which means half of each hole will be covered by your trailer frame. I then checked out CE Smith Front/Center/Rear Hanger part # CE14035G40 and those hoes are on 1 5/8" canters still no good for your application. After some brainstorming I came up with two options...

  • Trailer Suspension Hangers for Dexter Heavy Duty Suspension Kit # K71-360-00
There are different hangers that you could use with the Dexter heavy duty suspension kit # K71-360-00. To achieve 4-1/2 to 5 inches clearance between the trailer frame and axles you could use 6 of hanger # 28-5. To achieve 3-1/2 to 3-1/4 inches clearance you could use 4 of front/rear hangers # 115917 and 2 of center hanger # 115918 but these are usually found on lower capacity axles. These are going to be the most common set ups and should work well for you.

  • How to Determine Hanger Spacing for Tandem Axle Trailer Suspension with 26 Inch Springs
Thank you for providing the specs for the suspension components that you already have. Correct hanger spacing really depends on the components being used such as springs, hangers and equalizers. Most of the hanger spacing dimensions that we have are based on our preassembled kits, so we will use that as a foundation for your setup. First, I would either replace all of the front and rear hangers with 2-1/2 inch tall hangers like part # 115918 or replace just the center hangers with 2-1/2...

  • Recommended Trailer Leaf Spring Mounts
You are on the right track here! I recommend welding them to the trailer this is the most common practice and will prove to be the most reliable. The 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles part # SP-212275 that you looked at are 1 3/4" wide with that said and looking at the photo I recommend going with the Front/Center/Rear Hanger for Double-Eye part # 115918 This has the width and bolt eye diameter you want. • Additional Suspension Parts to Add an Axle to a Tandem Axle Trailer
The first thing I need to tell you is that mobile home axles are designed for one-time use only by the manufacturers. Because of this replacement parts are nearly impossible to find. I would urge you to switch to regular axles so replacement parts are readily available. I have linked the axles we carry for you. The main problem you might run into when adding another axle is wheel scrubbing. When making turns its likely that the front axle tires will drag on the ground. Also to maintain...

  • Could Lippert Center Point Air Bag System Work on Triple Axle Trailer with Slipper Springs
Sounds like you may have slipper springs which the Lippert Components Center Point # LC1565401 that you referenced is not designed to work with. However, I believe your trailer has three 7k axles so if you wanted to convert your trailer to double eye springs you could use the springs part # SP-198275. For new hangers then we have the part # 115918 which you can use on the ends and for bolts you can use the part # 126B2. For shackles then we have the # TRSL225 and you'd be set.

  • Where Is Measurement Taken On 1-1/2 Inch and 2 Inch Hangers In Redline Trailer Hanger Kit # APTT3
The height measurement of the hangers in the Redline Triple-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit, part # APTT3, is from the top of the hanger to the center of the bolt hole. The 1-1/2 inch tall hanger is the Redline Front/Rear Hanger for Double-Eye Springs, part # 115917 and the 2-1/2 inch tall hanger is the Redline Center Hanger for Double-Eye Springs, part # 115918. I am including a picture of the hanger and it shows where the dimension is measured.

  • Recommend Hangers, Shackle Straps, and Bolts for Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC279688
For a center hanger you will want something that isn't too tall because equalizers # LC279688 are quite tall compared to regular equalizers. Hanger # 115918 is what I would go with. The front and rear hangers would need to be taller than the center so I recommend # E4139. Then for shackle straps I recommend # TRSL313. This should get you right about level. So you will need: 2 of hanger # 115918 4 of hanger # E4139 8 of shackle strap # TRSL313 14 of wet bolt and nut # 126B2 The...
