Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.
Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The leaf springs provide the attachment points for your trailer's axle, suspending it from the frame of your trailer. Each spring flexes to absorb road shock as you travel, allowing the axle to move somewhat independently of the rest of your trailer. This helps to reduce wear and tear on the trailer and also ensures a smooth ride.
Double-eye leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. One end of this spring will attach directly to the hanger with a suspension bolt. The other end will attach to shackle straps that are suspended from a hanger. These straps allow the spring to move and pivot so that it can better compensate for uneven pavement. If you have a tandem- or triple-axle trailer, the shackle straps will be attached to the equalizer that connects multiple springs.
To mount this spring, you will need hangers, shackle straps, and suspension bolts. If you are simply replacing a spring, you may still have hangers welded onto your trailer. You should, however, replace your shackle straps because they are usually the first component to wear out. You may choose to replace old suspension bolts as well. It is recommended that you replace the other leaf spring in your setup at the same time. Because springs can sag and elongate as they wear, this new spring may not exactly match the old one, and the alignment of your trailer could be affected.
If you are fabricating a trailer, you will need to purchase a hanger kit for installation. To determine the type of hanger kit that you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring that you have, as well as your axle capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications. Hangers and other suspension components can also be purchased separately if there isn't a complete kit that works for your setup.

Double-eye leaf spring acts as part of a trailer's suspension system by providing an attachment point for a 4,000-lb axle. Spring flexes to resist shock and also ensures a smooth ride. Includes bushings with 9/16" inner diameter.I upgraded from a single leaf 3500lb axle spring to a 4 leaf 4000lb axle spring and also upgraded the U-bolts. The upgrade went very well. Everything fit perfect. The trailer tire to fender clearance was only 1.5 inches (at best) before the upgrade, now it is 3.5 inches. This will help the tire from rubbing the fender on the rough and bumpy road that we have in the state.
I was getting more trailer sway than normal. Leaf springs definitely need to be replaced.
These are good, they are not made here, the plastic bushings push right out and the wet bolt bushings went right in...
They do exactly what they are supposed to do....what more needs to be said? I bought these because the old springs on my travel trailer had flattened out to the point that my tires would hit the trailer body in the top of the wheel well when flexing, such as when pulling into driveways. The new springs gave me the clearance to eliminate that problem, and are a little heavier duty than the old ones as well. Installation was very straightforward, and not too difficult for this 70-year-old guy, requiring just basic hand tools.
Using etrailer.com has been a great experience. They have a huge selection of trailer parts and make it very easy to find the right parts. The packaging seems to have gotten alot better. Very sturdy box. It arrived within a few days from ordering which was a huge plus. I was able to get the job done sooner than planned. That kind of experience will keep me loyal to etrailer for any future trailer parts needs. Thanks guys and gals. Keep up the great work. As far as the parts, eveything was heavier duty than factory. Since I measured the old parts I was able to find the exact replacements for those parts. The job went so smoothly without any issues. These springs raised the trailer height without any load on the axles 1.5 inches. It was definitely time for new springs and hardware. Im kind of glad the one spring broke.
Great replacement springs, I ordered brackets also. Cut all bolts with grinder and new ones went in like a charm. Didn't realize how bad the old ones were. Nice and easy upgrade.
I had a broken spring on the road and had it replaced. I considered replacing only the other three. I decided to do all four to keep everything the same. I'm glad I did. I replaced the plastic bushings with the bronze ones and grease-able bolts that came with the pivot kit I bought. There were only pieces of the original bushes left in the old springs. I had not realized how over the years my trailer had sagged. Now it's like new again. NOTE** Make sure to press the bushings in, a bench vice works fine, and do not use a hammer. They are bronze, not steel, and can be ruined. ( Just some sound advice from a 68 year old professional).
E trailer website accurately describes product and items were delivered quickly and with all parts ordered. Very satisfied with the service we received!
i over sized the springs now i have more tire clearance. great
in big bold letters....CHINA.....if i knew these springs came from china...i would not have bought them..as i bought a pair for another project 5 yrs ago and within 1 year they were squatting as bad as the 30 yr old oem springs....nothing agents etrailer..good co...just trying to stat afloat......
I replaced the springs on my boat trailer, I bought all new springs and hardware. Everything worked great. These springs raised the trailer about 4 inches. The old springs were so worn out that the wheels were starting to hit the underside of the fender on bumps. They were a perfit fit and now i am not worried about the trailer riding too low.
I replaced 3500lb axle springs with these 4000lb axle springs. Super easy. Good fits all the way around. Also suspension upgrade from Moryde, new Goodyear endurance on steel.
Correct parts every time, faster delivery than anywhere.
Too easy. Dont waste your time going anywhere else.
I called customer service and worked with William B. He was patient and listened while i described problem and sent pictures to him for review and advice. He took time to search forums and find out specifications of the boat trailer which happened to be quite old. Helped solve a challenging problem and called me back quickly when had some questions about my order. he also sent me an email about the status of the order and let me know when it shipped. I was very impressed with the customer service. I ordered several size options and etrailer was great to work with. The trailer was for a boat MasterCraft Prostar 205 from '90s and wasn't able to measure the springs correctly because it was 3 hours drive away. Thanks for great service.
I order for my 2007 crossroads Cruiser 5th wheel. a set off 4 leaf springs And brakes all around everything fits perfect.
My old springs were flat after the 5th wheel sitting on them for 16 years. These raised the unit about 2 inches
Awesome product and price, highly recom mend.
Great springs, easy install. Very good products and great service as usual, thanks
Just what I needed
They fit just right!!!
Great product, Great Customer service, delivery as promised
A good price and perfect replacement for my 2015 Puma Toyhauler. I would suggest upgrading the shackle hardware though. Everything on my camper's suspension is heavily worn and not the highest of quality. And if you're going to replace one, replace them all....
Correct part per the description on the site. Easy to install.
The boat trailer leaf springs arrived earlier than expected and they fit perfectly. Etrailer was the only place that had this spring in stock. I tried 3 springs locally that didn’t fit. After a lot of hard work I ordered the correct size and got them on. After four springs, on and off, I’m a pro now!!! Thanhs so much for having the correct size and being very nice when I called to verify the size! Pull trailer after the installation, and I couldn’t be happier!
Looks good. I really appreciate your videos. I just wish they weren't made in China.
Very nice quality heavy duty springs. They’re on a custom built trailer, so I was relying on the accuracy of the published specs to select a replacement set of springs. The spec data was right on as these bolted up directly with no issue.
