An example of sag on the rear suspension under a heavy load.

The resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with the trailer's suspension to keep it level, which improves driving performance for your vehicle. When hauling heavy loads, you will often see the rear of the vehicle sag, while the front end raises up. In this case, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but more of the vehicle's weight as well. Since less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making significantly less contact with the road, reducing traction, which decreases the vehicle's steering and stopping performance.

Under pressure, hollow rubber springs are designed to progressively support the suspension.

The Timbren system has a custom bracket that will be bolted onto the trailer frame above the axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits one inch above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride you are used to.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape provides increased resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping the trailer level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's or passenger's side of the trailer. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when hauling off-center loads.

An example of a trailers swaying without Timbren SES

Timbren Suspension systems help compensate for all of the probable causes of trailer sway from unbalanced loads to gusts of wind from passing vehicles. Installing Timbren will make your trailer track better behind your vehicle and provide a safer more comfortable towing experience.

An example hauling a heavy load with and without Timbren.

When hauling heavy loads, the resistance from Timbren's hollow rubber springs will work with the trailer's suspension to raise the trailer's ride height. This is will take additional strain off of the hitch components and help the trailer ride easier.

  • Recommendation of Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System for a 3,000-Lb Utility Trailer
I would recommend to use the Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System , part # TTRA1032, on your 3,000-lb utility trailer. This enhancement system is for medium-duty trailers. It has a weight capacity of 7,000 lbs. This does not mean that you will be able to carry more weight than what your trailer is rated for, but it will help reduce sag and sway when you put the load of your equipment on the trailer. It is always better to have more weight capacity than not enough weight capacity....

  • Suspension Enhancement on a Trailer that Bottoms Out
We don't offer airbags, like what is normally installed on a tow vehicle, for trailers. We do have jounce-style helper springs that may work for you. The Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System # TTRA1702 install onto your trailer's frame and help support the existing suspension. They are likely to help you from bottoming out when crossing the creek however they will make every day driving pretty rough. So if this is the route you go I recommend installing them when you're going...

  • How to Improve a Rough and Bumpy Ride on a 2,000 Pound Fruefoff Trailer
I do have some suggestions. First off, make sure that the tongue weight is not too heavy or light. Typically tongue weight should be 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. A tongue weight that is too heavy would cause the rear end of the trailer to be more bouncy. Getting the trailer loaded properly will be the first thing you can do. As far as aftermarket suspension enhancement using a system like # TTRA1702 would help but it is only rated for 1,000 pounds for the set. All the...

Before you select a suspension enhancement system for your 2007 20 Lark tandem axle enclosed trailer you should verify the gross trailer weight of your trailer. Once you have determined the overall weight of your trailer when fully loaded, you can choose a suspension system that will effectively reduce sag and sway and provide a more comfortable ride. • How To Help Smooth the Ride of a Lightweight Boat Trailer
I do have an option for you but the Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System Light-Duty Trailers part # TTRA1702 is not going to soften your ride. It would most likely do just the opposite of that. The only option we really have for you to soften your suspension would be to replace it with one of the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension Systems like part # A20RS545. The Axle-Less system uses a progressive-rate spring to help absorb road shock and provide a smoother ride. Unfortunately,...

If you are wanting to use rubber springs then I recommend the Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System for Light-Duty Trailers, part # TTRA1702. For a 7,000 lb axle kit you would want the part # TTRA1032. For a 10k axle kit you would need the # TTRA15252. • Keeping Cargo from Moving and Shifting in Enclosed Trailer
Adding trailer suspension enhancement such as # TTRA1702 can definitely help with ride quality but I think the best solution to keep loads on the pallet is some cargo control devices. You could start with a cargo net, I have included a link to the various sizes we carry. A cargo net is a simple solution to secure a large group of items with one device. • Recommended Timbren Suspension for Trailer With Roughly 1000-lb Load
Usually when a trailer is bouncing around a lot behind tow vehicle, it starts with an improperly loaded trailer that has too much tongue weight and weight that is not properly distributed. Typically a trailer should have 10-15% of the total weight on the tongue of the trailer; you can measure your trailer's tongue weight with a tongue weight scale like the Sherline # 5780. Your tongue weight should be in the 200 to 270-lbs range using the 10-15% guideline (when fully loaded). When it...

  • How Much Does a 1977 22 Foot Ideal of Idaho Travel Trailer Weigh
The best way to determine the weight of your 1977 Ideal of Idaho travel trailer is to take it to a truck scale, weigh station, or place where they sell bulk gravel and ask to weigh the trailer. I have included a link that should help. From what I could find (I could only go as far back as 1980) but in that year on a 22 footer the weight was about 4,000 pounds. If the weights and capacities are not on a plate on the trailer frame somewhere then to know for sure you are going to need a scale.

Some bumpiness comes with the territory when you are towing a trailer. A weight distribution system should help you smooth out the ride quality of your 2011 Nissan Frontier Towing a 3000 lb R-Pod trailer. • Solution for Reducing Sag When Loading Barbeque Pit Onto Trailer
Replacing the leaf springs on your trailer with higher capacity springs may not resolve the sag you are seeing when the BBQ is loaded onto the trailer. I do not recommend going this route, as higher capacity springs will result in a stiff ride (which may lead to damage on your BBQ pit) and may also require a completely new hanger orientation and size. I also recommend checking to make sure that you are not exceeding the weight capacity of your trailer. Adding aftermarket products to...

  • Will Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System Work With Concession Trailer
The Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System, part # TTRA1702 is designed to be installed directly on the trailer frame. It has a weight capacity of 1,000-lbs. As the instructions state, on trailers the springs will be in constant contact with the trailer frame so that is expected and the springs will work well for you. When under a load the springs will compress to a height of 1-1/8 inches so you will need a little more than that when no load is on the springs.

  • Timbren Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for Bottoming Out Trailer
I would recommend the part # TTRA1702 for your trailer as it will provide you with additional suspension support so that your suspension stops bottoming out harshly and would not raise the suspension. Since your trailer is a tandem you would need two of these kits. That being said I have to recommend you lighten up the load you carry with your trailer as you are exceeding the axle capacity and could potentially damage things or hurt another driver. This is actually the root of your problem.
