This is a great kit! It included everything we needed to replace the old, worn-out brackets on our 6'x10' trailer. The directions were helpful and the brackets and hardware are nice and solid. We've had zero issues with the leaf springs (purchased on etrailer.com, also) or the brackets. Would definitely recommend!

Everything fit perfectly

by:

Excellent, had everything I needed and more for my trailer. Everything fit well!

Works as good as expected

by:

Parts are very good quality...delivery was fast ...price was very fair. Thank you

by:

I ordered replacement leaf springs for my trailer using the instructions provided by etrailer. The correct items were shipped and they fit perfectly! The mounting hardware was exactly what was needed. No extra parts were needed as in run to the local hardware store! The springs went in with no problems.
I would absolutely buy from etrailer again as their customer service was excellent as was the products.

by:

I bought a axle, springs wheels, hubs etc. to build a utility trailer, I inadvertently had ordered incompatible hubs for the selected axle the person filling the order noticed this and contacted customer service to alert them of the issue who then called me to correct the problem. This saved me the time and expense of returning the part and delaying the project. great service, attentive, knowledgeable employees and great products.
Thanks E trailer.

Phil, thanks for your business and your review. Since the required U-bolt lengths and diameters vary from axle to axle, the mounting components are sold separately. The U-bolt kits may be found at this link:

Sometimes on older trailers the leaf spring bushings will wear out and the mounting bolts will get wear grooves in them. Its cheap to replace everything play it safe.

Everything fit perfectly.

I have purchased several items from etrailer and have always been very satisfied with there parts and there service. I have never had the pleasure of talking with any of there reps, because they do such a great job of describing their parts with videos and knowledgeable people it makes the job easy. When you live in a small town you can't just go down town and buy a new set of spring hangers or a new spring, but with the push of a button you can usually find what you need and it is priced fairly.I am a very satisfied customer. keep up the goog work etrailor

by:

After purchasing an order of springs, shackle kit, U-bolts, bearing kit and a new Pro jack for a trailer repair I discovered a week delay in shipping due to one of the items on back order. (Email the day after I ordered informing me of the delay) A call to Angie K. On that Sunday!!!! And she had an in stock item to replace it and had my order on its way Monday morning , Thank You Angie everything sent was what I ordered and correct. Communication was great and they did what they said they would, Good prices and free shipping on my orderThanks again

by:

I haven't installed this yet but it is just what I needed and expected. My old boat trailer need new everything so this does it for me, just some time to weld it on.

These spring hangers worked great. My boat is back on the road!

by:

Items were shipped quickly. All parts were clean ready to weld in place. While my project may have a long way to go, the installation of the springs was quick and easy with springs and the mounting kit from etrailer.

by:

Wow, the shackle plates were long, but everything is quality materials. The nuts are locking and bolts are hard. Nuts threaded on without and problems. took a bit till I figured out the after shackle hanger where it said Up was to be against frame before welding. Welded on with easy,no penetration problem what so ever

by:

I used these to install new springs on my trailer. For the price, it was easier than ordering all the parts separate. They are not galvanized so I painted the parts. Parts all came very quickly.

by:

Great prices, fast shipping, and great customer communication! Just received my order, and getting ready for install. Would definitely order from etrailer again!

Thanks for following up. I used your product on a motorcycle trailer I was building for a trip I made last year. Im extremely impressed with the quality of your product, and also the affordable pricing! I had two Harleys on the trailer with a total worth of about $65,000 and we hauled them from Nevada to Ohio and back with zero issues and your product performed flawlessly. Thanks so much again

by:

As I have come to expect E Trailer has delivered on time and in good condition. The leaf spring mounts fits perfectly and my trailer is on the road again.

  • Are Bushings for Trailer Suspension Spring Hangers Required
Bushings do not always have to be used. Springs typically have bushings or they will use wet bolts depending on which part of the suspension system it is but not always. The bushings limit the wear on the suspension components. There are just different designs. Kits # APS2 and # APS5 use the same 7/8 inch hangers and it is those hangers that come with the bushings. I have included a link to our help article on double-eye trailer suspension for you.

  • Can Hangers of Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit # APS1 Attach to 2 inch Trailer Frame
The width of the hangers that come with the # APS1 is 2-1/8 inches. These would easily be able to attach to the bottom of a 2 inch wide trailer frame.
  • Width of Hangers Included With Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs
The larger hanger that comes with the # APS1 is 2-5/16" wide on the outside and 1-7/8" on the inside. The smaller hanger is 1-13/16" on the outside and 1-3/8" on the inside. These are designed to work with your standard 1-3/4" wide double-eye leaf spring. I have attached the full dimensions below.

  • Overall Dimensions of the Hangers in Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit APS1
I went out to the warehouse and pulled hanger kit # APS1 to measure the hangers for you. The larger hangers measure 3 inches long, 2-5/16 inches wide, and 2-1/8 inches tall overall. The smaller hangers are 2-1/8 inches long, 1-13/16 inches wide, and 1-1/2 inches tall overall. On the smaller hanger the shackle straps attach to the outsides of the hangers.

  • How Tight Should Suspension Shackle Bolts Be Torqued
The shackle bolts used between the springs and hangers do not require a specific torque rating because tightening the shackle bolts too much will squeeze the shackle straps against the leaf springs, and the whole suspension system will bind and cause problems. The best thing to do when tightening down shackle bolts is to use lock nuts, tighten them until they are snug, then back them off 1/4 turn. The lock nuts of the part # APS1 will keep them from backing off.

  • Will Different Hanger Spacing For Single-Axle Trailer With Double-Eye Springs Be A Problem
The Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit, Item # APS1, has recommended measurements that are meant to be guides. Actual measurements can vary depending on your situation. You may impact your tongue weight capacity with different location for the installation. If you can get your springs to fit properly then you should be fine. I am attaching an article on trailer suspensions to assist you with your project.

  • Do Shackle Straps in Trailer Hanger Kit # APS1 Bolt to the Inside or Outside of Hanger
The shackle straps included in the # APS1 trailer hanger kit will bolt to the outside of the rear hangers, which measure 9/16 of an inch from the top to the center of the bolt hole. I am including some links to videos and FAQs with information that should be helpful as you go through the suspension kit installation.

  • Determining Spring Hanger Spacing When Installing 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # PR4B
When installing trailer suspension I recommend that you completely mock the setup to determine the best placement for the hangers. To do this I would put all of the suspension together and clamp it in place with the rear shackles at a very slight angle rearward when the trailer is lowered and wheels are on the ground. The 25-3/4" spacing measurement that you referenced from the chart is a good starting point, but due the variance in leaf springs, hangers, and shackles, it can vary where...

  • Can a Rear Hanger that is Wider than the Trailer Frame be Still be Used
The reason that the hanger is wider is most likely because double-eye springs are 1-3/4 inches wide. But as long as the hangers you are using are welded to the bottom of the frame as much as they possibly can be it will be fine. Welding should be performed by a qualified professional welder.

  • Can Trailer Suspension Hangers Be Bolted on
You will want to weld the hangers of the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit # APS1. The holes you see are not designed to have bolts run through them. If you did run bolts they would most likely interfere with the spring and how it would sit on the hanger. I would recommend you have a qualified welder do this for you. Check out the FAQ on trailer suspension I attached also.

  • Trailer Leaf Spring Hanger Spacing Measurements for Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit APS1
The measurements given on the hanger kits including # APS1 are a guide only. The actual measurements will vary and to get the suspension set up correctly you would first mock up all the parts without permanently installing them. Then once the parts are in the proper positions they can be permanently installed. Basically the charts and measurements given on the hangers kits are good starting points but will not work for every situation.

  • Should the Trailer Suspension Rear Hanger be Closer or Farther From the Axle than Rear Spring Eye
The rear hanger should be slightly closer to the axle (forward) of the trailer. If you look at the drawing on the product page for Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs, # APS1, you will see the rear hanger is more forward than the center of the rear eye of the spring. The shackle, then, is at a slight angle with the top more forward than the bottom. You are correct that that bolting to your hangers on both ends is not correct, however the size of the shackle strap needed is determined based on your hanger length as you can see in these kits. If you wanted to convert your slipper spring suspension to double-eye suspension you certainly could. It would be just a matter of changing springs and hangers. You would need to go with a leaf spring that is rated for the weight of your trailer when it is loaded an ready to go. I attached a page that has all of the double eye springs we offer. If you need a U-bolt kit for this axle, # APUBR-10 will work well. The hanger kit you use will depend on how much space you want between the axle and the trailer frame. Hanger kit # APS1 provides between 4-1/4 to 4-1/2 inches of clearance. # APS3 would give between 4 and 4-1/2 inches of clearance. # APS4 is 5 to 5-1/2 inches and # APS5 is between...

  • Can a Tandem Axle Trailer go to a Single Axle
If you are absolutely sure you wouldn't exceed the capacity of the one axle on your trailer you could get by with just one axle. You are going to have to move the good axle to where the center equalizer is currently at to ensure you get proper axle placement which ensures that your trailer tongue weight will be in the 10 to 15 percent of the total trailer weight range so that you don't have sway. For a single axle hanger kit you would need the part # APS1.

On the Redline Rear Hanger, part # 30-20, which is the rear hanger included with kit # APS1, it is welded to the trailer with the side marked top, facing the outside of the trailer with the word top showing.
