Video Transcript for etrailer Camper Jack - Stabilizer Jack - TJ01RT-HD Review

Today we're going to take a look at the 18" Extension Stabilizer Jacks, with a 650 lb lift capacity, and this is for a quantity of two. Now these stabilizing jacks will help keep your trailer or your camper level and steady, they're right for loading or unloading cargo or for camping. A folding design, in other words when these are mounted on to yours you can see as you pull down on this, you can flip it up for travel, and then when you get to where you're going you can just pull it down for use. The drop legs do extend, so in other words if you push down right here on this lever, you can see that the drop leg extends so you an adjust the height, and then to fine-tune it they include this steel handle that you can put in the hole there, and that'll allow you to fine-tune it to the height that you need. It does have a very large foot on each jack to provide stability. They are made of a sturdy steel construction, they have a nice black powder coat finish to help resist corrosion. They are a bolt-on or a weld-on installation, either way. Now I do want to give you a few dimensions on this. The bracket height, in other words overall height with the legs retracted, is going to be right at 11-1/2 inches.

And since the drop leg travel is 6-1/2 inches if it's fully extended, and it's going to give you the extended height of 18 inches. Now again we mentioned the lift capacity per jack is 650 lbs, and that's the maximum load that the jack can lift. The support capacity per jack is 1000 lbs, that's the maximum vertical load that the jack can support. I do want to give you some dimensions on the mounting plate, which is right up here. The length of it, edge to edge, is going to be right at 4 inches. The width is right at 1-7/8 inches. It does have two mounting holes if you want to bolt it on, center to center on those is 3 inches, and each hole is 7/16 in diameter.

Now on the foot plate itself right down here, the length on that is going to be right at 4 inches, and the width is right at 3-1/2 inches. Now this part is for a quantity of the two jacks and the steel handle. One last note on these, these jacks are designed to stabilize a portion of your trailer's weight, they are not to support the full weight of your trailer, so do not use these jacks to lift your trailer or RV. Doing so will exceed the capacity of the jacks. Again just to show you how they'll flip up, once these are mounted to your trailer or camper, just pull down, they're spring-loaded, they'll hold up right in this place. To release them, just pull them down just like that, and then right here is a spring lever that as you release it, the leg will come out, and if you get it to where you want it, then to fine-tune it just put your handle in there and you can just fine-tune it just like that. That should do it for the review of on the 18" Extension Stabilizer Jacks 650 lb lift capacity, quantity of two.

First of all I want to thank the great customer service I received from Dena! After several months on back order; I finally received these jack stands. Expecting a lighter gauge build, I was surprised at the intermediate tube / plate wall thickness. These unites will work great on my 6'x10' enclosed trailer. The only issue I see is having to install these to allow for full locking position when closed. It looks like there is an interference with closed arm being above the mounting plate plane; thus not allowing arm to lock into place. Excellent buy for lighter application! 610191

I've used about a dozen of these stabilizer jacks. They are easily welded or bolted using 3/8-inch bolts to the trailer frame. I use beveled washers to thru-bolt them through the bottom flange of C-channel for easily removal in the future. I deducted a star because the jacks DON'T PROPERLY CLOSE if welded/bolted to the trailer frame such that, when they swing up, they're collinear with the frame. The mechanism can't lock, so the jack still slides. It's a safety hazard. I solve the problem by using a single washer as a spacer between the trailer frame and the top of the stabilizer jack mounting plate on the INSIDE BOLT only. Works like a charm. 410015

These jacks were placed on a small trailer with a fold open tent I built to pull behind my motorcycle trike. They stabilized the small trailer while the tent was open just as they were originally designed to do. Works great! No pictures available, in storage for our Minnesota winter. 602994

First of all these jacks did exactly as advertised. I have a small utility/camping trailer I wanted to stabilize better to help eliminate the trailer from rocking or sliding around. After mounting them they immediately improved the stability. If I wanted I could even raise the trailer wheels off the ground. I installed 1 pair underneath the back of the trailer. Install took less than 15 min. The only negative of this design is the catch mechanism that holds the jack in the UP position. Returning from a camping trip a passing motorist informed me that one of the jacks were down. Luckily it was not damaged. Its possible it was rubbing on the trailer and wasn't able to fully lock UP. After a quick adjustment they have given me zero problems. 441080

One year later and our camper jack we purchased on this site still works like a breeze. We have a 1990 Coleman Williamsburg pop up & one of the jacks was not working properly any longer. Replacing it has made all the difference. Now, to save up money to replace all of them! It was really easy to setup with the help of a hydraulic jack to lift up the trailer a bit to get under there. For reference I am a woman, and I installed it :). I am handy, but am definitely not a mechanic. So what I am saying is - it wasn't hard. The local camper place wanted to charge me $100 to install it for me. No thanks. Will definitely come back to etrailer.com for items needed for my camper. Their service is excellent, and they clearly stand behind their products as they have reached out multiple times to ensure I am happy with my purchase - even one year later. Customer service means a lot to me, and there isn't a whole lot of it out there anymore. Happy to have found etrailer.com. Thanks! 523366

Haven’t actually used the jacks yet. I installed them to allow the parking of our side by side on the trailer when unhooked from the truck. Only needed to drill 4 ea 3/8” holes in order to install the jacks. Really easy. The only problem was that the jack extension release lever would hit the frame slightly before the jacks were fully in their locked up position. A couple of spacer washers placed between the trailer frame and the jack face solved that problem by giving about 1/8” extra clearance. 482100

Well built worth the money. Plan to use on small trailer to stop it from tipping when loading small tractor and trailer is not hitched up to the truck. I used these on another trailer for the same reason. 469308

I painted them white so I dont leave them down when towing. Keeps the trailer from tilting when loading my tractor. I continue to shop with etrailer.

These jacks are super! Very easy to set and level my bike trailer and very very easy put up. Takes less than 30 seconds to stow each jack and I'm slow and maybe 5 seconds to deploy each jack. If you don't have these jacks, get some. It will worth you effort. 466561

  • Comparing Stallion and etrailer.com Drop Leg Stabilizer Jacks for Trailer
  • Quality-wise there isn't much of a difference between the etrailer.com stabilizer jacks part # TJ01RT-HD and the Stallion Stabilizer Jacks # 288-01892-2 that you also mentioned. I'd recommend going with the kit that matches the height requirements you need best. The # 288-01892-2 has a travel of up to 22-1/4 inches and the # TJ01RT-HD has a travel of up to 18 inches. I also attached a review video for these jacks for you to check out as well.

  • Total Extended Length of TJ01RT-HD Stabilizer Jack
  • The fully extended length of the # TJ01RT-HD stabilizer jack would be 18 inches, which represents the 'A' Dimension in your photo. The 'B' dimension would simply be the height above the ground of the underside of your trailer when its level. The Atwood stabilizer jack is meant to hold up or stabilize the trailer, not lift it up off the ground.

  • Mounting Orientation of TJ01RT-HD Stabilizer Jack
  • There many possible ways to mount a stabilizer jack such as the # TJ01RT-HD you looked at. Mounting them in the orientation shown the diagram would tend to work a bit better to stabilize the trailer against side to side movement, while having the jacks parallel to the trailer frame members would do a better job stabilizing against fore/aft movement. However, mounting them as shown in the diagram would be pretty effective against movement both ways from normal movement in the trailer. The...
