Video Transcript for Ultra-Fab Ultra Scissor Jacks Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Ultra-Fab ultra scissor jacks. For the two-pack with crank handle part number's UF48-979031. And for a single replacement, part number is UF48-979032.They're gonna stabilize our camper, keep it from moving around. So it's not so important really during the day. You don't want a lot of movement in your camper, of course, during the day, but as people start to go to sleep, other people stay up a little bit later. As you're getting in and out, you can really disturb that.

Your camper's gonna move back and forth. Any movement in the front of the camper, we're gonna feel in the back of the camper. So, by using a properly-working set of stabilizer jacks, we can eliminate a lot of that movement. We're gonna take a look at the tire intersection. That's the best area where we can see some movement. And we'll walk around in the camper before, we'll get our jacks installed, walk around in it after.

I think we'll see a pretty big difference. All right. We'll start just by walking in the camper. And remember, no stabilizer jacks at this point. You can see that movement and that shake. And as we get inside, walk towards the back of the camper, or towards the front of the camper, really see There's quite a bit of movement. Now, to lower our stabilizers down, we're gonna use our jack handle.

Now, if you get the two-pack like we said, you're gonna have the handle that comes with it. If you're just getting a single for a replacement, it's not gonna come with a handle 'cause you probably already have it.Now, you'll crank this to the left to lower and then to the right when you wanna raise it back up.Now, if you don't wanna use a crank handle like this, you're gonna use a three-quarter-inch socket or you can use the Ultra-Fab speed socket, which is part number UF48-979005.Now, we're gonna take all of our stabilizers down once our trailer is level. These aren't really designed for leveling. These are designed for stabilizing. So we'll bring them down til the make contact on all four corners.

At that point, wanna put just a little bit of pressure on them. That'll give us that stabilization effect.Once we have those deployed, I'm gonna take basically the same path I did before through the camper and you'll see what a difference it makes. We are up the steps, inside. Moving towards the back, back up towards he front. I can tell you, inside it feels much more solid. You don't feel the camper shifting side-to-side as you move around. Now, overall, this stabilizer jack is gonna by much more sturdy and stable than what you're gonna get from the factory. And really, it's stronger than a lot of the ones that we offer from different competitors. This one offers a 6500-pound capacity, so as a pair you're looking at 13,000 pounds. A lot of the other ones that you're gonna see are gonna be five thousand pound, maybe a six thousand pound capacity.I also like the screw mechanism that you see here. It's a little bit larger than what we see on some of the other ones. It's gonna come pre-lubricated for you. Yellow zinc here on the end and on our barrel nuts here on each side, which cause our jack to operate. That should keep corrosion to a minimum.Really, all you'll have to do every now and then, just add a little bit of grease here in this working surface. Keep everything lubricated. They should last a very long time.Got steel construction here on our arms, with a black powder coat finish. So overall, really good, resilient to any of those kinds of elements we might encounter while we're heading down the road. From side to side, we've got nine inches. From the front edge to the back edge of our foot plate, we've got five. Now, as far as the attachment point to our camper, you can see our plate here. This is gonna be three-and-a-half inches wide. And overall, from the end here to the opposite end, we're looking at about seven-and-quarter inches. This is gonna be an excellent foot plate for most surfaces we're gonna be camping on. Maybe soft sand, really soft dirt or mud, you might need to put something down, like a piece of wood, to give it a little bit more energy dissipation. But outside of those situations that you might not be camping in anyway, these are gonna do a great job on any harder surface. Now, overall we've got a 30-inch distance of travel from our jack. So that should work out with just about any camper, even one like this where it's set up a little bit higher. These are available in a 24-inch variety as well, if you need a little less space or if you don't have quite that much room. Those would be a good option also. These Ultra-Fab jacks tend to get very good reviews. It's kinda like Gene S. Says, "The quality is great and they fit right where the previous jacks fit. The travel trailer feels more stable with the new jacks and I can now get a little help when minor leveling is required. I should've done this right away, not after coming back from a 7,000-mile trip."Now, your stabilizer jacks are connected to your frame. You can see here, in this setup they're using three self-tapping screws on each side. The great news is, these brackets are pretty universal. So swapping out stabilizer jacks doesn't take a long time, doesn't take a lot of effort. Just gonna get these backed out of here. And once we get all of our screws out, we'll be able to get this old one out of the way. We've got four holes here for attachment. Oftentimes you're gonna see self-tapping screws used in this application. This is right up to our bumper beam here. Now, if you're adding these, maybe you're adding these to an enclosed trailer, something that traditionally doesn't have stabilizers, just wanna make sure you're on a solid piece of steel, like right here, or even on your frame here. That's gonna give you a great attachment point, make sure that you've got plenty of support there.Got our new one. We're gonna bring it up. We're just gonna re-use our existing hardware.Use one to hold it in place, get our other ones lined up, and install. Now, these can also be welded right onto your camper or your trailer, whatever you wanna do. So we can have it welded just basically all the way around the seam there. Anywhere we can get a good weld on. These are number 14 self-tapping screws. They also recommend the use of a three-eighths bolt. If you're gonna use a three-eights bolt, definitely use something that's at least a grade five. And that's gonna complete our look at the Ultra-Fab ultra scissor jacks, offering 30 inches of lift and a 6500-pound capacity.

After I got lazy and did not fully lift the rear Jacks on my 5th wheel trailer I had to move it and needless to say destroyed them. The new ones I got from Etrailer were just what I needed, 10-15 minutes to bolt both on they extend and retract very smoothly. I couldn’t be happier. (Unless I didn’t get lazy and cost myself some cash) 706111

I use this jack to level my RV trailer when needed. It does a great job. It will even lift the whole trailer if needed to change tires. It is well built and durable.

Scissor jacks like the Ultra-Fab Ultra Scissor Jack part # UF48-979032 are only made to stabilize and support the trailers weight not lift the trailer. I recommend to use a bottle jack like Powerbuilt Unijack Bottle Jack with Built-In Jack Stand part # ALL620471
Powerbuilt Unijack Bottle Jack with Built-In Jack Stand - 21" Lift - 6,000 lbs
$166.98
to lift the trailer to change the tires. It is not safe to use the scissor jacks for that.

Was delivered quickly, packed well, meets my requirements, for a jack to lift my hilo for tire changing. With 1/2 inch drive battery operated impact tool and 3/4 socket head that fits the hex head crank, easily lifted the travel trailer up, to replace wheels on trailer. I expect it will lift my truck when required to replace tires on it also, being it's rated at 6500 lbs. The use of the impact tool makes it a lot easier then cranking the hydraulic jack. 597326

Very good quality, everything e-trailer said it is. I used it for a different purpose however, I mounted a 24" 2x6 to the top and place it under my travel trailer tongue where the 2x6 crosses the V shape of the tongue. This adds extra stability when the trailer is stored as well as taking the pressure off of the factory electric tongue jack. Just something I thought was good since the trailer storage is on a slope the tongue is up a little higher than I felt comfortable with. I would recommend this product. 350319

So we dropped the axles on the fifth wheel for better ground clearance, the stock jacks were useless to begin with, and 24"-jacks would have to e all the way out. These 30"-jacks were the ticket, OK they're a little big, but man do they work. A great buy for anyone sick to piling up blocks to stabilize their trailer. 155577

The item seems of good quality and quickly bolted in place where the old jacks were. I recently put new axles and springs on the trailer and inverted the springs raising the distance from the ground so it would not drag on hills etc. One minor complaint: the screws work in opposite direction of all my other jacks that I have ever owned which means the ones on the front screw cclockwise where the rear screw the normal clockwise to raise the trailer. 136892

Ask the Experts about this Ultra-Fab Products Camper Jacks

  • What is Overall Length of Ultra-Fab Ultra Scissor Jack # UF48-979032 Fully Collapsed
I went to the warehouse and measured the overall length of the Ultra-Fab Ultra Scissor Jack, part # UF48-979032, in the fully collapsed position. It measured 33-1/2 inches from one end to the other end, and the measurement includes to the end of the bolt. The bolt that the crank handle attaches to protrudes about 2-1/4 inches from the end of the scissor jack. I am including a photo with the measurements listed.

  • Adding Stabilizer Jacks to the Rear of a Fifth Wheel
To measure for ground clearance for stabilizer jacks you were correct in that you need to measure from the bottom of your fifth wheel's frame to the ground when you are set up (including if you are using blocks). For exampl the Ultra-Fab # UF48-979032 jacks have a lift of 30" and collapsed height of 4-3/4". I've attached a link a to video review of this product for you to take a look at.

If you can tell me the mounting hole spacing of the old scissor jack I can determine if any of the models we have will fit. If your jack is different let me know what you come up with and I can determine if anything we have will fit.

Are the threads of the main screw turning while the nut is being turned? If so and the jack isn't moving it could be that the barrel nut on the opposite end of the scissor jack has become stripped and now does not allow the jack to raise or lower.
