A trailer jack is designed to lift the tongue of your trailer so you can connect the trailer coupler to your hitch ball. To do this, you'll need a jack with a lift capacity high enough to handle your trailer's tongue weight.
Tongue weight is the amount of weight that your trailer applies to the back of your tow vehicle. Typically, your tongue weight should be 10-15% of your total trailer weight (trailer + cargo). In other words, a 10,000-lb trailer would have a tongue weight between 1,000 lbs and 1,500 lbs. For a trailer this size, you would need a jack with a lift capacity of at least 1,500 lbs.
It's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher lift capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time camping.
Every jack offers a certain amount of lift or travel. Screw travel is the distance the jack extends when you crank it (or toggle it to "extend" on an electric model). Some jacks include a drop leg for extra adjustability. On these jacks, you'll see the maximum extension of the drop leg listed in the specs as well. Adding the screw travel and drop leg travel together will give you the total lift. The total lift listed above can help you determine how high this jack will be able to raise your trailer.

I have 10 trailers, I've been swapping out the OE jacks for these which lift much easier
Very nice jack stand, unfortunately I couldn't use do to not fitting. Fitment issue was on my end, my A frame is from another country and had none standard measurements. Customer service and return was great!
I over loaded my work trailer broke the stock 2000lb trailer Jack. I needed a quick replacement and found your 5000lb Bulldog A-frame. The price was great and I got it in 4 days. Solid product, smooth function, feels sturdy. BUT PLEASE NOTE: DOES NOT WORK WITH BullDog DROP LEG that is linked in related products. The diameter of tube listed for inner tube is 2”, and the BullDog BD 500377 drop leg lists outer diameter is as 1.75”…. However the two do NOT fit together. The inner tube measurement listed for the Jack is the OUTER diameter of the inner tube. Ignore the drop leg description that says it works with most manual trailer jacks. It doesnt work with this one, and I could find no bulldog manual trailer jack on the site that it will work with. Items individually seem fine, but are not compatible and are being returned.
Great product and helpful service
Although most trailers come with an A-Frame Jack, if I damage the jack or want to replace the bottom-of-the-line included jack, I prefer the Bulldog 5,000 lb jack. The jack is very stout, works effortlessly for as long as I've owned any trailer and never needs to be greased. In addition, it is designed to accept a flat foot attachment at the bottom or one of Bulldog's outstanding wheels.

Still working great. A little rust is building up but appears to be surface only
Works as expected
Jack works smoothly on my car trailer lifts trailer off the truck with a full size car on it no problem. I would buy it again. I like the folding handle feature as well

This jack still works as good as the day I installed it on my car trailer. I haul full size trucks Chevy suburbans and tahoes and the jack lifts the trailer up off my truck with the full load on it time after time. I will defenetly buy another one of these jacks if and when this one wears out and needs to be replaced.

The Bulldog Trailer Jack is working great as the day I purchased it one year ago!
In addition to this support plate, I ordered a Bulldog Jack and a foot plate. During my prepurchase research, completely frustrated at the lack of detailed product information available on most sites, I finely landed on etrailer.com. I found all the information I was looking for, and the pricing was the best I had found, and e trailer offered free shipping. I placed the order and recived a follow up thank you email. The following day I received an update of the shipping status along with a tracking number. I recived my package within a week via 3-day shipping. The care given to packaging was amazing they could have sent fine China in the packaging.

Many flawless operations. Very happy with my purchase.
Excellent heavier duty A-frame jack. Easy to install, (used the existing holes). Replaced the oem unit that came on my 2007 open car trailer that was way past its duty cycle. This is a hefty unit at a reasonable price.
Put heavy duty jack on car hauler. Handles trailer with 3/4 ton 4-wheel pickup as a load. Good enough for me.
I bought the A-frame Jack-Top-wind-15" Lift-5000 lbs with the detachable footplate. Received in a week and it was very easy to installed and the video from e-trailer really HELP.
Will buy from the vendor again.. Highly recommend!!

Jack seems solid, was a breeze to install, fit perfectly, seems to work fine. Installed on a large, enclosed Scout trailer that hauls a LOT of gear. We'll try it out next weekend. Only gave if 4 stars because we haven't really used it yet.
Purchased this along with the detachable foot plate to replace the existing jack on our trailer. Received items quickly and in excellent condition. Very easy to install and great quality products. Customer service was exceptional. Works great!
Definitely a more robust construction than the original unit which came from the trailer mfg. Perfect fit installation. Easier to wind up or down than the original also. Quite satisfied.
Everything worked perfectly like it was made to fit took me 5 min to install the shackles 3 min to install the bulldog foot this is where I will get all my parts from
Works great, smooth action, you can weld or bolt this unit on. Using this on a car hauler. The original one failed after 12 years of use, so I found this one online. It looked just like the one I replaced....hopefully I will get the same years of use from my new one.
