Video Transcript for Bulldog Top Wind A-Frame Jack Review

Today we're going to be reviewing and installing the Bulldog Topwind A Frame Jack Frame at 5000 pounds, part number BD1750290301. We're also going to be using the Bulldog Detachable Foot Plate for 2" jack tubes. This is going to be sold separately with part number BD018564. The jack is going to offer a capacity of 5000 pounds. It's going to feature the Topwind handle, it's an ergonomic design for easy and smooth cranking. This jack is designed for A Frame trailer tongues. It's also going to feature precision fitted parts that provide exceptional stability and reliability. With the previously installed jack removed from the mounting location we can go ahead and take our new Bulldog jack and set it into place.

You can see that once we have it pushed all the way down that the mounting holes on the jack line up with the mounting holes on the A Frame coupler. These are going to be the industry standard, separated, center on center, by 3". There are a couple different options when it comes to mounting this on to your A Frame coupler. You can choose to bolt this on, which is what we will be doing today or you can choose to weld it on. The hardware we're going to be using comes from the previously installed jack. No hardware is supplied with this jack.

If you don't have any hardware you will need to get that separately. Go ahead and tighten them down using our socket wrench. The last thing you would need to do to complete the install is go ahead and torque these down to the specifications listed by the manufacturer. You can find those in the instructions. For our demonstration today we're just going to go and leave it as is, that way we can spend some more time going over the features of the jack. We're going to take our foot plate, again this is sold separately, we're going to place it on the bottom portion of the jack, line up the pin holes and secure with the included pin and clip.

One of the neat features about the handle on the Bulldog jack is it's ability to be moved to a stowed position. We're going to go ahead and lower the jack, that way we can take out our jack stands. We just fold it over and then we can go ahead and lower it all the way down. It's got an easy-grip handle on it as well, it's got these little gaps in here that way you can get your fingers in there for a nice secure grip. With the jack fully extended I'm going to remove the jack stands. If we take a measurement from the ground to the portion where the jack mounts, which is just the top of the A Frame coupler, that's going to give us a measurement of about 26-1/4".

This is in it's fully extended position. The inner tube diameter on this jack is going to give us a measurement of 2". This outer tube is going to measure right at 2-1/4". Here on our A Frame jack we have a tool box mounted so a measurement we want to go over is the distance we have from the end of the handle to the center of the mount location. It's going to give us the radius on the handle, making sure you can have enough room to attach anything that you need to and still be able to raise and lower your jack. It looks like that measurement is going to measure 7-3/4". With the jack in the fully retracted position with the foot plate installed, it's going to give us a measurement from the bracket to the base of the foot plate of 11-1/4", which overall is going to give us a lift of about 15". That's going to do it for today's review and install of the Bulldog Topwind A Frame Jack rated at 5000 pounds part number BD1750290301. .

This jack was purchased to replace a very old, worn out jack on a horse trailer. Have not installed yet, hence only 4 stars, however it appears to be extremely heavy duty, and Bulldog is a reliable brand name. etrailer is a very nice company to do business with. This is our second order, all products have been very good. 280551

Best tongue jack for the money. Bolted right up, much smoother and easier to crank than the Fulton and Pro Series that previously were on trailer. 234515

Have had the jack for a year now on the front of a 10,000lbs trailer. Works great, cranks nice and easy. Only thing that could be better is to have a nicer handle. The knob style isn't the greatest on your hand 242232

Haven't installed the jack yet. It was just received today. It seems to be durable, because the box it arrived in was damaged - torn, partially crushed and half open. 679364

I have a 16 foot galvanized car hauler trailer with the A frame type mounts at the rear on each side for stabilizing jacks. These fit the bill perfectly and at 5k each will handle anything I tow. I could have gone with a couple 2k jacks at half the cost but I tend to over-engineer things to handle worse case scenarios. I don’t haul more than 5k pounds so if one failed the other could handle the load. I wanted zinc for corrosion resistance. I added the square bulldog footplate to each one. The top wind has always been much easier and more durable for me so I favor that over sidewinder types. 669519

The Bulldog tongue jack I received was smoother than the OEM jack it replaced and the price was unbeatable. etrailer.com was helpful in selecting the right jack for my application. I’m giving them my highest rating. 778409

Very solid feeling jack, seems well made. Easy install (three bolts), although it's worth noting that on a Bigfoot 25b25rq trailer I had to widen the jack sleeve about 1/32" (minor amount of grinding). 771810

Top Wind A- Frame Jack fit perfectly for the replacement. Line up matched without a problem. Right and Left Clearance lights worked great, E-Trailers only place I could find these types of replacements. I am very happy with the Trailer Lock, fits securely and visible. Excellent turn around time for delivery. I will be using E-Trailers products again and referring to anyone who asks where to find trailer replacement parts. Thanks 175830

  • Availability of 5,000 lb Bulldog Jack for A-Frame Trailer
We have several 5,000 lb Bulldog trailer jacks but I was not able to find your exact part number. If you check out the link I attached you can see all of the 5k Bulldog jacks we carry. The closest matching part number we have is the part # BD1750290301 which is an A-frame jack with a top wind.

  • A-Frame Trailer Jack Recommendation for a 10,000 lb Trailer
A trailer that weighs 10,000 lbs would have a tongue weight of anywhere from 1,000 lbs to 1,500 lbs. The Bulldog Jack part # BD1750290301 that you referenced has a 5k capacity and would be more than enough. For a footplate to go with this jack you would want part # BD018564 or for a wheel caster part # BDCP555.

  • Recommended Replacement Bulldog A-Frame Trailer Jack for 1979 Trail-Rite Boat Trailer
The Bulldog Zinc Top Wind A-Frame Jack # BD1750290301 referenced in your question is a great option for replacing the original jack on your 1979 Trail-Rite tandem boat trailer. This jack's 5,000 pound weight capacity is more than enough to handle the tongue weight of your 3,500 pound trailer and will provide a total lift of 15 inches, up to an extended height of 25-13/16 inches. This jack can be either welded or bolted onto any standard A-Frame trailer. If you need a new caster wheel, the...

  • A-Frame Trailer Jack Options with a Lift Capacity of 5,000 lbs
The Bulldog Square A-Frame Trailer Jack, # BD195318, has a lift capacity of 3,000 lbs and a static weight capacity of 5,000 lbs. If you want a jack with a 5,000 lb lift capacity, I recommend looking at the Bulldog Round A-Frame Trailer Jack, # BD1750290301. This jack has a lift capacity of 5,000 lbs, a top wind crank and a 15 inch lift like the square jack you referenced. At this time we do not have any square tube or drop leg jacks with a 5,000 lb lift capacity. This jack can be...

  • Bulldog Collar Lock Coupler and Tongue Jack for Scamp 13FT Travel Trailer
I went out to our warehouse and pulled the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler w/ High-Profile Latch, # BD028384 to get a measurement for you. The neck of the Bulldog coupler measures 8". I have included pictures which illustrate these measurements. The Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler, # BD028384, is a heavy-duty coupler that offers a tight fit with visual indication of proper closure around the ball to ensure quick, easy and secure hookup which will hopefully keep you mishap-free. • Recommended A-Frame Jack
I do not recommend installing an a-frame jack in a manner that requires you to disassemble it. What I do suggest, since you have fabrication capabilities, is that you make a new a-frame jack mounting point on the trailer at the height you want it and then simply install a jack like the Bulldiog # BD1700100317 from above as usual. Or you may simply want a jack like the Bulldog # BD1750290301 which measures only 10-13/16-inches from the mounting bracket to the top, excluding the handle. All...
