Video Transcript for Bulldog Rack-and-Gear A-Frame Jack Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Bulldog Rack and Gear Jack with steel wheel, designed for A-frame trailers, offering 16-inches of lift and a 750-pound tongue weight capacity. Part number is BD165311. This durable jack is efficient and very easy to use. It has a smooth, long crank handle here, roller end on it, so you're just hanging on to that one spot. For each turn we do, we're going to move a quarter of an inch, so for every four turns, we're moving a solid inch up and down our gear here. As you can see, we've got our grease insert right here. We can maintain this jack without having to try to get it squeezed down in there. Got the insert right there that's going to be right inside of the welded steel gear box.

The rack post itself, that's going to be right inside our fully welded steel gear box. As you can see, they've got a great primer finish on it to allow you to paint it to any finish that you'd like. The post itself is zinc-plated. That's going to give us great corrosion resistance, and with the base bracket that we have here, it allows for a weld-on or bolt-on application to any standard A-frame coupler. Here you can see we've got our six-inch steel wheel. It's going to have full castor capability, so we're going to be able to move this left and right and kind of aid our trailer in the right direction. With our center post flush to the top of the jack, we're going to have about 5 1/4 inches from the top of our trailer to the top edge of that post.

From the center bolt or the center of the hole that we're using to mount our jack into, we're going to need about 11 1/4 inches worth of clearance here to the very end. We're going to need about 6 3/4 from there to the inside of our handle. As long as your A-frame doesn't come out on a steeper angle than that, you should be in great shape to use this jack. With our jack full retracted, from the ground to the top of our bracket here, it's going to be about 7 1/2 inches. With it fully extended so our post is matched to the top of the frame, we're going to have about 23 1/2 inches. The inner tube diameter here is 2 inches and it's designed to fit through holes that are 2 1/4 inches, while our outer tube diameter here at the top is 2 1/4. Now that we've gone over all the features, let's take a look at how to get this installed on our trailer.

We've already removed our previous jack and we held onto the hardware. You will need to re-use that. What we're going to do is bring the shank of our jack right up here through the middle, bring the top portion and place it on. You can see it's kind of like a keyhole there. We'll want the geared side to be facing that keyhole, allow it to sit down on and now we'll give it just a few cranks to get those gears started. Once we have that started, the weight of the leg is actually going to kind of hold this down for us.

We can now take our three bolts and we just need to get these started in our three original hole locations there. Then we'll start using our wrench to tighten these down. As you can see, the holes are kind of oblong, so that's going to give us a little bit of adjustment forward and back and left and right to get a good custom fit for it. With all three of our bolts nice and tight, let's check its operation. That'll complete today's look at the Bulldog Rack and Gear Jack with steel wheel, part number BD165311. .

I recieved a very helpful response from etrailer about sizing within 24 hours, ordered the product, recieved the product within 4 days and installed it in 10 minutes.
