Review from a similar Rack and Gear Jack in Trailer Jack

I received the box with the Bulldog Jack. The packaging was not real good and could use a lot of improvement. Was missing a hex nut and lock washer, (3) bolts were outside of the plastic bag and (1) was still in the bag. The bag didn't seem to have any holes in it so I assume they weren't all inn the bag to start with. I did get it assembled and mounted and seem to work good. The installation instructions I received with it call for using lock nuts and hex nuts were supplied so I put both lock nuts and also hex nuts on it.

Review from a similar Rack and Gear Jack in Trailer Jack

The jack itself if ok except it def is not like the jack that was suppose to be like my 2005 Kingston horse trailer one. The wheel is too big to tuck into the frame as it should therefore the clearance to ground is low and I have to be careful at raised rail crossings. Unfortunately I did not notice until after it was installed and too late for any recoup, so stuck or have to replace again which I cannot afford. It is a nice jack, just not for my trailer. Wheel needs to be a smaller diameter for sure !!!!

Great range allowing lift to reach different vehicles and fully pull the wheel up and out of the way.

Review from a similar Rack and Gear Jack in Trailer Jack

Great product. The last Bulldog jack lasted 25 years! Probably could have rebuilt it but I wanted fresh. This is what came on my Gambler bass boat trailer and it fits the 3" x 5" trailer tongue perfectly. This style is ridged and seems to last longer then the swing up kind and I just don't have the room to swing a jack up without hitting on something else. I hope to keep another 25 years out of it! Tight lines.

Jack mechanism always runs smoothly and the wheel tracks beautifully. Consequently the trailer is far easier to push and maneuver by hand. We've replaced the jacks on all our trailers with this model jack.

Review from a similar Rack and Gear Jack in Trailer Jack

this is the only jack I could find w/ a 3 point center mount and a steel wheel. Exactly what I was looking for. I would have given 5 starts but it did take almost 6 months to get. I would have canceled but it was the only one I could find and etrailer immediately and completely respond every time with updates when emailed for an update. I would do business with them again

Review from a similar Rack and Gear Jack in Trailer Jack

Thi is a solid and very suitable replacement for an old unit on an old trailer. The wheel is larger and wider than I expected, making it easy to maneuver the front of the trailer.

Step one for assembly: Throw away the written instructions. They're unnecessary, and unless you have a very good magnifying glass, you can't read them anyway.

  • Caster lift for rear bumper on an Apex Coachmen 25ft Travel Trailer
The best thing I could recommend for you would be to check out the link I provided that shows all of the skid wheels we offer. Without knowing more about where your trailer is dragging I could not give you a specific recommendation for a skid wheel. You would not want to use a jack in the way you described, the jack would not be able to handle the weight and would easily break.

Lift on a jack is the extended height of the jack minus the retracted height (jack height is measured from the bottom of the foot or wheel to the top of the mounting point). For your application we do have a jack that will work for you, the Bulldog Rack-and-Gear Jack with Steel Wheel # BD162300. This jack has a 22" extended height and 6" retracted height for 16" of lift. It uses a bolt-on L-bracket that fits trailer tongues up to 4" x 4" and has a 750 lb capacity.

The Bulldog # BD162300 Rack and Gear jack doesn't have an outer tube. • Will a Rack and Gear Jack Rated for 750 Pounds Work on a 2,600 Pound Trailer
Since the trailer jack is only lifting a portion of the weight it is possible that a 750 pound rack and gear jack, see link, could work. If the gross trailer weight is 2,600 pounds then that would put the tongue weight somewhere around 260 to 390 pounds which is well within the capabilities of a 750 pound jack. There are some options that bolt around the frame such as # BD169201 or a weld-on/bolt-on option, # BD162300.

  • Retracted Height from Wheel Bottom to Center of Mounting Bracket on Fulton F2 Trailer Jack 1600 lbs
I went out to the warehouse and pulled a Fulton F2 Trailer Jack, # F1413040134. With the mount set to the lowest setting, I took the measurement you needed. From the bottom of the wheel to the center of the mount is 12-1/4 inches. Jacks that can get very low are the rack and gear type, like # BD162300. With this jack, though, you are looking at only 750 pounds capacity. If the tongue weight of your loaded trailer is under that this may be a viable option.

The right jack is going to allow you to lift your coupler high enough to to clear the hitch ball on your tow vehicle and retract enough to clear the ground when you're towing your Viking Pop-Up Camper. I recommend a Bulldog Rack-and-Gear Jack consisting of part # BD018161 and # BD018006 . This jack has an L-shaped mount that will need to be welded to the bottom of the trailer frame.
