Video Transcript for Bulldog Sidewind Jack for Genie Basket Lifts Review

What's up everybody, Adam here with Etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Bulldog pipe-mounted trailer jack. So this trailer jack is gonna give us a 2000-pound lift capacity. What that means is if you got 2000 pounds on here we are gonna be able to crank it up without damaging the internal gears. And it's gonna have a static capacity of 3000. So if you're just having it sitting and you have over 2000 pounds, but under 3000 it's not gonna damage it, which is nice.

What really sets this one apart is the coating on it. It has a very rust-resistant coating so you don't have to worry about this thing rusting away over time. And it does kind of look cool too. One thing that you're gonna need to get with this thing, one, with this one, we are not going to get a little piece to weld onto our trailer. So if you don't have one, you're gonna need to pick one up.

And what this one takes is a outer diameter of two inches so just make sure that it's gonna line up with that. And the pin is gonna be a 9/16 inch diameter pin but it comes with the pin. Just make sure we're gonna grab the right piece to weld on our trailer that has the same hole as our Bulldog. So as you can see here, the hole on the piece that's on our trailer is a little bit smaller than the one on our Bulldog. So it's just gonna be a little loose whenever we're cranking this thing up.

When I was cranking it I just did notice that it was a little loose but that's not really a big deal. The whole point of this is just to be able to get it to lift up. And once it sits down on the ground, it's not near as loose. One other thing you're gonna need with this is a foot plate if you want one, because it is hollow, the inner tube. So we don't want that getting full of like mud and stuff like that if you're putting your trailer on some soft ground.

So this one right here is gonna be great for it just because it has a compatibility with the two-inch diameter tube, just like that. And it comes with a pin too. This one's very popular. It's a pretty big base pad. So I would definitely recommend it. Does not come with the kit, but let's just focus on what does come with it. This one does have a grease zerk, which is nice. So typically when you see these jacks some of 'em don't have them, some of 'em do. The ones that do tend to last a little bit longer if you upkeep the grease that goes in there. So grab yourself a grease gun and some grease and do that maybe once or twice a year just to keep those gears nice and lubed up. And when it comes to the handle, this is a side-wind, so it's on the side right here. So let's go over some measurements. The radius of this handle is about six inches and we have a pretty big handle on here. And as you can see, it does rotate. So as you're cranking it up, cranking it down you don't have to worry about rotating in your hand it'll stick with you. In its fully retracted position we're gonna have about 11 and 5/8 of an inch from the center of our mounting hole to the bottom of our jack, not including the foot plate. And then when we have it completely extended out it's gonna be about 21 and 5/8 of an inch. That's gonna give us a total of 10 inches of travel. The really cool thing about this one is you can remove the foot plate. So we have a lot of different options for different plates that you can put on here. But what I like to do is grab a wheel because a lot of times you're always just a little bit off whenever you're trying to. hook up your ball mount to the coupler. Instead of just moving the truck which tends to be a little bit more time consuming and hard, you can just have a wheel on here so you can kinda roll it into position so you can grab, you can get it lined up with your ball a little bit easier with a little bit less effort. So I think that's really cool. I really like that just because you never know what situations you're in. So definitely grab a foot plate and definitely grab a wheel. Cause that really is what kind of sets this one apart. We have those options, which I really like. I do think that this is gonna look really good on the trailer and with the coating, too, it's gonna stay looking good for a long time. So I think it's gonna be a pretty good option for you. When it comes to Bulldog, I always think their stuff is high quality. So I think this really is gonna be a pretty good option for you and your trailer. Again, this was the Bulldog side-wind pipe-mounted trailer jack, and I'm Adam with Etrailer..

  • Is a Wheel Available for a Pipe-Mount Swivel Trailer Jack
The foot on the inner tube on Pro Series trailer jack # PS1401480303 is attached, all one part, so you would not be able to add a wheel. None of the pipe-mount swivel jacks come with a wheel. Your best option would be to replace the jack with something like # BD150415 and add a wheel # BD500245 which would limit the capacity to 1,200 pounds. None of the jacks with wheels that would work are rated up to 5,000 pounds like the Pro Series jack.

  • Pipe Mount Trailer Jack with Caster Wheel
Because the fit to the trailer of a pipe mount jack is a little loose due to the large tolerance between the jack and the pipe mount on the trailer, it's pretty rare to find a pipe mount jack with a removable foot that would allow a caster wheel to be installed. The Bulldog # BD150415 which is actually intended for use on a basket lift CAN be used on a trailer according to the folks at Bulldog. They recommend using a foot plate like # BD018564 over a caster wheel most wheesl are only rated...

  • Inner Tube Diameter of Bulldog # BD150415 Sidewind Jack for Genie Basket Lifts
According to my Bulldog representative, the inner tube of the # BD150415 jack has a 2 inch outside diameter and a 1-3/4 inch inside diameter. Keep in mind that in many cases the caster wheels are rated lower than the jack itself. Therefore, if you use a caster wheel like the # PS1400750340 that's rated at 1,200 lbs, the weight capacity of the jack will be reduced to 1,200 lbs.

  • Height of Bulldog Sidewind Jack # BD150415 to Mounting Location
From the top of the tube where the Bulldog Sidewind Jack # BD150415 installs to the top of the jack measures 5-1/2". If you measure from the middle of the pipe then that measurement changes to 6-3/4". I have attached a photo to demonstrate this for you.

  • Will Bulldog # BD150415 Sidewind Jack Fit Genie Model TZ-50 Trailer-Mounted Z-Boom Basket Lift
The Genie website does not include a capacity rating for the jack supplied on the TZ-50 Basket Lift, but since the weight of the entire lift is about 4400-lbs the Bulldog jack # BD150415, which is rated for 2000-lbs capacity, should be more than up to the job of supporting its trailer tongue weight. I also spoke to a technical contact at Genie and he was able to confirm that the jack they supply on the TZ-50 is indeed rated at 2000-lbs (although in this application the jack will have to...

  • Availability Of Replacement Jack and Caster For Genie TZ35/20
We do have the Bulldog Sidewind Jack for Genie Basket Lifts - 2,000-lb # BD150415 which is designed specifically for Genie Basket lifts like you mentioned. For a caster to go with this jack I recommend the # BD500245 as it is the heaviest duty caster we offer and has a 1200lb weight capacity. When using the # BD500245 with the # BD150415 the weight capacity will be reduced from 2000lbs to 1200lbs, so you will need to make sure your tongue weight stays below this rating. I included a...

  • Bolt-on Swivel Trailer Jack Recommendation
It sounds like you only want to use the mounting bracket from the Trailer Valet # STC-V211. But there are swivel jacks that you could use that would not require having to buy two jacks such as # PSEJ10000101 or # F1413230134. I have included a link to the jacks I think would be a better option.
