The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Today we're going to review part number 845476UC3-EZ. This is the Dexter trailer hub and drum assembly for 3500 pound easy lube axles with the 5-14 and 3/4-inch bolt pattern. This trailer hub and drum assembly will fit on easy lube axles with electric or hydraulic brakes. It includes everything shown here, the bearings, the bearing races, which are already pre-installed into the assembly themselves, the double up grease seal, the easy lube grease cap, and the lug nuts. This is designed to go on an easy lube axle and basically that easy lube design will make lubricating your bearings very simply. Basically what you would do after this is all installed and you have your cap installed, what you do is you remove this rubber plug, which is right in the middle of the cap here, and that will give you full access to that grease a Zerk fitting that is on the end of a spindle on an easy lube axle. With that exposed, you can put your grease gun onto that Zerk fitting, pumping your grease and that would lubricate your bearings so you don't have to be taking your hub and drum assembly off your axle.
You can do it without removing the hub and drum. Again, the application, this fits on the 3500 pound easy lube axles with electric or hydraulic brakes. The drum dimension is measured here on the inside, the 10-inch diameter by 2-1/4 inches wide, just to give you an idea here. Measure the inside. You can see there's the 10-inch diameter inside the insides and then the 2-1/4, and just put the tape on there.
You see 2-1/4 inches for the width. Basically this will fit on any brake assembly that is measured by 10 x 1/4 inches. The bolt pattern on this is 5 on 4 and 3/4. The wheels students are a half inch diameter. The capacity on this one assembly is 1750 pounds, so when you combine this with the other hub and drum assembly on the other side of the axle, will give you your 3500 pound weight capacity. The bearings it comes with, the inner bearing, which is the larger of the two is L68149.
You can see here's the inner race that's already pre-installed onto the hub and drum. Your inner bearing would fit right onto that race. You take your double grease seal and you put that in there, and you'd have to tap that in so it's a press fit. It holds everything into place. Then you'd go to the front and again you'll see your outer bearing race already pre-installed in there.
Take your outer bearing, which is part number L44649. That would drop right in there. With that in there, then you'd slide that on. Your spindle would stick through. You'd put your washer and nut on, tighten it down correctly, and then you'd just tap in your grease cap and again I mention that's an easy lube grease cap, and just to show you what I was talking about, as you can see, there's this rubber plug that you can just pull out and with it installed, it will give you full access to that grease Zerk fitting on an easy lube spindle. It also comes with the five 1/2 lug nuts right here. The lug nuts are used. Once everything is installed and you're going to put your wheels and tires back on. Then you'll go ahead and tighten those down by using these 1/2-inch lug nuts and torque them to the correct torque specs. That should do it for the review on part number 845476UC3-EZ, the Dexter trailer hub and drum assembly, the 3500 pound easy lube axles with the 5 on 3/4-inch bolt pattern. .
