Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I received hubs yesterday. Put them together and it was a match on my trailer. Haven't towed it very far yet, appears all is well.

Hubs and bearings were a perfect fit ! Etrailer is excellent also got tires and bearing buddies as well.

after visiting 2 local parts stores and still not getting what I needed, I decided to use etrailer. within a couple minutes I had found exactly what i needed. I took all the stuff back to the auto parts store and bought from etrailer for way cheaper! Parts fit perfectly and customer service was excellent. First rate business all the way, in my opinion. Very happy with my etrailer experience.

Troy L.

works great after one year of moderate to heavy use. No complaints!

Good but didnt come with axel nuts.

Ordered two replacement hubs for my 5x8 trailer. Sort of guessed at correct hubs. No much info remaining on trailer (make, model, etc.). All I knew was that they were 5 on 4.5 Dexter hubs and the number 08-259 stamped on the old hub. There are a number of dexter hubs on etrailer and info on them is sparse so just made my best guess based on the application of trailer use.
George J upgraded my shipment from 5-7 to 3-5 day express shipping at no additional charge and the package was received on the exact day estimated. Thanks for the special treatment.
Unfortunately UPS delivered the package next to a tree in the middle of a rain storm so when I got to package a few hours later it fell apart in my arms.Fortunately inside the individual boxes the parts were in a plastic bags with only a minimal amount of water dampness inside.
Would I use etrailer again?...Absolutely! Correct parts received, packaged well and fast shipping. Great job!

Replaced hub on a snowbear trailer with a failed wheelbearing. Hub set included everything required (save your hub nut and cotter pin). Function is same as original hub, however, original hub has a full flange. Quality seems OK, however, original equipment was also a Dexter hub. Hope this wheel bearing is better than original equipment.

Melissa W. Was very polite and very knowledgeable of the part that I needed. She was very helpful got my part right to me very quickly. All sales representative should be like Melissa. Will do business again as long as Melissa takes care of me a 5 star experience. Thank you. The part was priced fairly. The right parts delivered quickly job well done Thanks Melissa your The best

Product arrived quickly. These were Trailer Hubs. Each hub was not restrained by packing and as they bounced around in the box. Needless to say the dust caps were dented to the point where they could not be used. I used the old ones instead.

Just what I needed. Everything was great except dust cap did not fit properly.

Still great, no problems.

These worked great for my sledbed 4 place trailer
Replaced all 4 & bought 1 spare

Product arrived on time. Being a rookie at changing out the hub and bearing on my trailer would have been nice to have assembly instructions included or a video on the website on how this product goes together.

I called first and talked to a real person who help to confirm that this part was a universal replacement for my axel. Parts arrived quicker than anticipated - and assembled like new. Thanks E-trailer.

Great hubs at a great price. Fully loaded minus the grease. Mine shipped with a double lip seal. Not sure if it was supposed to as I ordered extra seals because it wasn't supposed to have a double lip seal. The good news is now I have a spare set of seals.

Everything fit and functioned as expected. The one issue I found was the quality of the dust cap. I reused the original cap. It was more solidly built than its replacement, as typical of today's products.

Very happy with these hubs. Perfect fit. Arrived right on time and exactly as described. Really appreciate all the info on the website as well! Will definitely purchase from again.

This product was exactly as described on the website. On line product information/demos are very helpful. I placed the order by phone as there were concerns on ordering the correct parts. Customer service rep Bill E. was excellent in satisfying my concerns and processing the order efficiently. Prices are the best I could find.

Received package on time and it nstalled the new hub on my trailer in less than 30 minutes. I am very pleased with the fit and quality.

Products cheap and shipping fastI have been constructing a custom trailer and did an internet search for parts. etrailer was the cheapest overall that I could find. After placing my order, it arrived in only two days. Amazing!

There is only one word to describe the service I received from

Good service. Parts fit and installed easily.

Received item(s) in good shape and on time. Installation was easy and as expected.

Excellent service, and parts will us them again.
Thanks e trailer,

Just as advertised. High quality. Will use etrailer again.

This was the best product I have ever got and the service was spectacular. I would highly recommend this web site to everyone

Got a great deal and quick service.

  • Replacement Hub and Bearing Kit For a Carry On Trailer With Dexter 8-259 Idler Hubs
It sounds like you are looking for the Dexter 8-259 # 8-259-5UC1 hub. If you only need the internals it will use the Bearing Kit # BK1-150 for each hub. The bearing kit includes new bearings, races and a grease seal for 1 hub. I recommend filling the bearings with the Grease # L11390 when you install them.

  • What Size Hub will Work with the 215/60-8 Trailer Tire with 8 Inch Galvanized Wheel Load Range D
The proper size hub for the 215/60-8 bias trailer tire and wheel, # AM3H325, is going to depend on the weight capacity of the trailer you are designing. This wheel and tire combination is capable of 1,165 lbs at 70 psi, so each axle in your design would need to be rated for 2,330 lbs or less. Most likely if this is the proper capacity for your design you will be using a 2,000 lb axle and the Trailer Hub Assembly, # 34822545BX, would be the proper choice if the spindle on the axle you...

  • Trailer Hub Recommendation for a Trailer that has Inner/Outer Bearing L44649
If the bearings of your current hub are both L44649 the Dexter Hub part # 8-259-5UC1 that you referenced will fit on your current trailer spindle. Since this has the same bolt pattern as your wheels it would match up with them as well. The star shape of this hub will not matter in comparison to the round style you currently have.

  • Will Bearing Buddy Grease Caps Fit a Harbor Freight Trailer 62671 Folding Trailer?
We don't have a kit for Harbor Freight trailers and their parts are very rarely compatible with standard trailer parts like we carry. We have however found there are times when the bearing buddies # BB2047 specifically has fit. We haven't confirmed a fit on that model yet, so you will need to measure the hub bore of the hubs on your trailer. If the hub bore is 2.047 then these will work for you. For a hub and bearings, you would need to pull the hub and look at the bearing numbers....

  • Is there a Trailer Wheel that Fits a 4 on 3 Inch Bolt Pattern
First, let's make sure that you are measuring the bolt pattern correctly. I have included a link to an article showing how to measure for bolt pattern. On a wheel or hub that has an even number of studs or holes all you have to do is measure from the center of one hole or stud straight across the center of the wheel to the center of the one across from it. If that is how you are measuring and still come up with a 4 on 3 bolt pattern then we do not have a wheel that will fit. But you may...
