E-Z Lube-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Beefy. Using these on an off-road pop up trailer along w the Timbren Axle less suspension. I am happy with the purchase but will probably swap out the metal cap protecting the grease zirc with one that is more easily accessible for regreasing.

  • Do Dexter 3,500 lb Axles Use Hubs With L68149 and L44649 Bearings
Thanks for the kind words, it's nice to hear! Also, it is extremely likely that your Dexter 3,500 lb axle is going to have inner bearing # L68149 and outer bearing # L44649 which will allow you to use the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 6 on 5-1/2 # 84655UC1-EZ you referenced. For reference, every single one of the Dexter hubs we carry for 3,500 lb axles use those same bearings so this hub will work for you without issue. I've added a link to a video...

  • How To Use Toyota TRD Pro 17 Inch Wheels With Hubs On a Dexter 3,500 Lb Axle
The wheel bore can be an issue but the bigger concern I see right off the bat is that you have 5 lug hubs and want to use 6 lug wheels. Therefore, we need to get you the correct hubs first before you can address the hub bore difference. The good news however is that you can upgrade to 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern with the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # 84655UC1-EZ. According to my research, the Toyota TRD Pro 17" Wheels have a 6 x 139.7mm bolt pattern which is the same as 6 on 5-1/2"...

  • Inner Diameters Of Bearings Included In Dexter Hub Assembly # 84655UC1-EZ
The inner diameter of the # L68149 bearing measures 1.378 inches. The 1-3/8 measurement you gave is equal to 1.375 inches. The inner diameter of the # L44649 bearing measures 1.063 inches. The 1-1/16 measurement you gave me is equal to 1.062 inches. You can use a digital caliper to measure your spindle to ensure you find the correct size bearing. A digital caliper allows you to measure as exactly as possible. If your inner bearing measures 1.375 instead of 1.378, you will want to...

  • How to Find Correct Replacement Bearings for 2003 Roadmaster Enclosed Utility Trailer
It is a good idea to go through your trailer's hubs and bearings to make sure everything is in good shape before your cross-country trip. The easiest way to find the correct replacement bearings, races and seals is to use the part numbers from the original parts that are on the trailer now. Please refer to the linked photo that shows the typical location and appearance of these part numbers. We offer many popular combinations of bearings, races and seals as kits, but the individual parts...

  • Is Timbren Axle-Less Suspension and Dexter Axle Idler Hub Good for a Small Trailer with Camping Gear
Combining the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR2000S02 with the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # 84655UC1-EZ is a great option for a small trailer and camping. One of the biggest advantages of the Timbren Axle-Less systems is that they increase ground clearance for the trailer since you don't have an axle tube hanging below everything else. If you were only needing the suspension parts for your trailer build then you shouldn't need any other parts to finish your project....

The drop of the spindle, measured from the underside of the trailer frame to the center of the spindle is 7-1/2 inches. This includes the lift plus the spindle drop. I've provided you with a diagram we received from Timbren that shows all the relevant dimensions for you.

  • Recommended Axle-Less Suspension System For Lightweight Off-Road Trailer
Since you want to travel off-road I recommend the Timbren Axle-Less System, part # ASR1200S01. This is designed for off-road tires and has a capacity of 1,200-lbs. The hub assembly I recommend is part # 8-91-05UC1-EZ. This system does not have the same bolt pattern as your Tacoma. This hub has a 4 on 4 wheel bolt pattern. Since you said you want to match the 6 x 5-1/2 bolt pattern of your Tacoma you will need to use a more heavy-duty system like part # ASR35HDS01. This is a 3,500-lb...

  • Replacement Drop Axle for Old Horse Trailer with 6 on 5-1/2 Inch Bolt Pattern
I would love to help but we do not have any trailer hubs that correspond to the dimensions that you provided. Therefore, the only option we can offer you would be to replace the axle all together. In order to offer a replacement for this we would need to know your spring center and hub face measurements (see photo). If you can provide me with these I can then see if we have an axle suitable for your trailer. For example, the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with 4" Drop E-Z Lube Spindle part...

  • Can a Trailer Axle be Put On a Truck Bed to Make a Trailer
First, I am pretty sure you don't have to change the axle out if you are making a trailer out of a truck bed. You will want to check the laws in your state/area though. The highest capacity straight axles that we carry are rated for 3,500 pounds which likely exceeds the capacity of the truck bed. For a trailer axle that will accept a hub with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern you could use # T3584F-8974 with hub # 84655UC1. Or EZ lube axle # T3584F-EZ-8974 with hub # 84655UC1-EZ. Both of...
