E-Z Lube-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Web site navigation was easy. Finding the product that i was looking for was a snap. All specs for the product were readily available. I experienced no problem with checkout. My order was quickly filled, shipped and I was notified by e-mail. Tracking app is the best that I have seen. My shipment moved much quicker than I would have expected. It was a very heavy package and it travelled from Wentzville MO to Myrtle Beach SC in 3 days! The only negative thing that happened was that the box was ruptured. It should have been packaged better considering the weight of the objects. Fortunately nothing was missing. I have a dozen utility trailer in my area and many other pull behind's, I will order what I need for repairs from etrailer.com THANKS!!

  • How To Use 17.5" Trailer Wheels On a 7K Axle
The Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # 8-219-18UC3 fits 7K axles and it has a 4.75" pilot with 5/8" studs so it will work with most hub piloted 17.5" wheels like the Provider 215/75R17.5 Radial Tire w/ 17-1/2" White Mod Wheel part # TTWA215H-175WM. The Flange Wheel Nut part # 95188 is also required.

  • Upgrading 6,000 lb Dexter Axles to 7,000 lb
There are a lot of great solutions to your problem, but to upgrade your trailer axles from 6,000 lbs to 7,000 lbs, you need to replace your axles entirely. Adding higher capacity hubs alone won't change the weight capacity of your axles. Note that even if you decide to upgrade your axles, you still might be limited by the weight capacity of your trailer frame or coupler as these could be rated less than your axle capacity. To upgrade your axles, I recommend a full kit that includes a...

  • How To Add Dual Wheels and Tires to a 6K Trailer Axle
In order to run dual wheels and tires on a 6K axle what we have is the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # 8-219-18UC3 which uses 5/8" lug studs and has a 4.75" pilot. This will then work with the Dexstar Dual Wheel with Offset part # AM20783 and you can add the Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire part # TTWTRTM2358016E to complete the setup. The parts you mentioned were not compatible, they did not have the same pilot nor even the same lug size.

  • 1997 Apenlite Fifth Wheel Brake Brake Assembly Recommendation Dexter 8-217
Thanks for the picture of your hub. From looking at it I noticed 217 on the drum which means it's this hub part # 8-219-18UC3. So for brake assemblies you'd want the # 23-458-459 which is a pair of left and right assemblies that match that hub which are self adjusting.

  • Replacement Trailer Hub/Brake Drum For LCI #2420801 8K Axle
An 8K hub would use a drum with an inside diameter of 12-1/4 and an inside depth of 3-3/8 inches. If that's the inside dimensions of the drum you have, the Dexter 8K # 8-285-10UC3-A would be the correct replacement. The hub uses a 25580 inner/02475 outer bearing an an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern with 5/8 inch wheel studs. The hub is billed as a oil bath hub, but it will work perfectly with either grease or oil, so it'll work great as a replacement for your LCI 2420801 hubs.
