Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Dexter Trailer Hubs and Drums 8-213-5UC1 Review

Today we're going to take a quick look at the Dexter Axle Trailer Hub Assembly part number 8-213-5uc1-ez. Now this hub has a capacity of 3,000 pounds, so when paired up with another it will have a gross weight capacity of 6,000 pounds, which makes it a great application for 5,200 pound and 6,000 pound axles. There are six studs pressed into place on the hub and theyre set up on a 6 on 5 1/2 pattern. If we were able to accurately measure across from one stud to the other we'd get our 5 1/2 inch measurement. Now included with the hub are the races that are actually already pressed into place. The outer race is an LM67010 and the inner race is a 25520.

You also get your inner and outer bearings. Your inner bearing is a 25580. Your outer bearing is an LM67048. You get your 6 conical lug nuts for securing a wheel to the trailer hub. You'll get the grease seal which will go on the back and that's a 10-10 grease seal for this model.

And you'll also get your dust cap. It'll fit over the outside here, but this dust cap also has a removable rubber plug so if you have easy lube spindles on your axle all you have to do is pop this plug off and then you can fit your grease gun over the zerk. And that's it for a quick look at the Dexter Axle Trailer Hub Assembly part number 8-213-5uc1-ez.

Product looks good, and well made. Trying to convert a trailer house axle however didn't fit my application. Knew I would need to make bearing sleeves but when arrived I found my spindle wasn't long enough. So had to order spindles to match. Also was planning on using rims off a 2006 chevy Silverado however they won't work because of the center hole needs to be larger. Older Chevy rims made for 4WD should work. Center hole should be around 4-4.5". For future reference, measure length of your spindles as well as bearing and seal diameters. A mention of spindle length needed as well as the center diameter of the hub would be a good things to add to description. Great people to work with. Very friendly and knowledgeable. In shipping a bearing and cap was destroyed. They took care of it right away. No pictures, no explanation needed. 311119

I bought these hubs to replace the 30+ year old originals on the 6000 lb axle under my late fathers homemade 4x8 trailer. The original hubs couldn't have modern wheels mounted to them so doing this allowed me to mount modern 225/15r75 tires and wheels as well as have a spare. Install was quick and easy, the fit of every part was perfect. Service from etrailer was excellent, couldn't have been better. 61565

I have home built trailer with a mobile home axle on it. Getting tires for was getting harder to find and they were unable to balance them. I got replacement hubs, bearings, wheels and tire from etrailer. They arrived in 3 days. An hour after they arrived I had them instaled. The seals didn't match but the old seals were in good shape so I used them. The dust covers did not fit so I used the old ones there. I think it is just very hard to get everything to match up on those axles. I am very happy with the results. Rose at etrailer was very helpful on my initial call too. I have since placed another order for hubs, wheels and tires for an other trailer I am repairing. Thank you Rose for your help. . 304566

I have a utility trailer that I have had for over 25 years. It had a mobile home axle on it with Dayton style hubs and 14.5. inch rims and tires. I wanted to change over to a more traditional hubs and wheels. The help from Sam G was great. I gave him the part number of outside and inside bearings and he found me the hub that fit my spindle. The delivery was fast. One of the bearings came bent but replacement was not an issue. The description of the hub only showed it was for 16" rims but Sam found a 15" rim that worked. - Taskmaster Steel Modular Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Black Pictures sent to Sam in email. 318099

I had the bearing numbers from the original hub and I couldn't locate them on the website - probably because I wasnt searching right. So I figured I would give etrailer a call. Sure enough, they found the exact match and sent me the info I needed for ordering. Awesome customer service and this was the easiest swap from old mobile home hubs to a modern hub with radial tires. Not to mention that the price was affordable and definitely the lowest around. I feel like I got a great deal and an awesome product. The trailer rides so smooth now and looks much better. Thank you etrailer. I'll definitely be back in the future. 397338

This seems to be a good quality hub. I haven't gotten the opportunity to install as circumstances have conspired against me so far but I'm sure it will work perfectly. The real bright spot is that there was a minor problem with my order and Rebecca and George were very quick to respond. They got everything fixed with absolutely no hassle! The level of customer service has proven to me that the staff at etrailer.com are willing to do everything possible to find the right solution for the customer. I will definitely be shopping with etrailer.com again!! 317280

Quality Dexter product! These are to replace a brand new set of hubs installed by a trailer shop on my boat trailer. They installed cheap, Chinese made hubs and bearings which lasted just less than 1200 miles before one side completely failed. I installed both of these Dexter hubs and bearings last night and discovered the other side was probably very close behind. Comparing the two brands, it was obvious the Dexter products were far superior in machining, fit, finish and overall construction. 428180

This time I ordered 4 new hub assembly's and upon receiving them I discover one was just an empty box. etrailer immediately corrected the issue and sent me out another one. No questions asked. I wish all companies had such great service. Thanks 389810

Excellent tech help, quick shipping, parts arrived and installed this weekend. As etrailer stated they fit perfect on my old mobile home axle and yes I would highly recommend them. The only thing that would have helped a little is stating the bearing seal size, in this kit it is 2.125. Bob 64344

Ask the Experts about this Dexter Axle Trailer Hubs and Drums
Do you have a question about this Trailer Hubs and Drum?

  • Parts for Lugged Hubs on a Mobile Home Axle with 15123 inner and 25880 Outer Bearings
  • It sounds like you have a spindle that uses the Inner Trailer Hub Bearing, item # 25580, that has a 1.750 inch inner diameter. The outer # 15123 bearing has a 1.250 inch inner diameter. I would check the seal surface on the spindle to be sure that it matches the # RG06-070 seal inner diameter of 2.250 inches. Many times mobile home axles use non- standard parts so careful measurement of all of the parts is required. If all of these dimensions match, then you will need to determine whether...

  • Replacement Trailer Hubs to Fit Bearing Set 25580/LM67048
  • Since the hub assembly you referenced, part # 8-213-5UC1 from Dexter, includes bearings that match those in your current hubs, as long as the bolt pattern (6-on-5-1/2) and the axle weight rating (5200 to 6000-lbs) matches also, then these should be fine as replacements for your existing idler hubs. This kit is shown in the linked video. The linked article will help you confirm your wheels' bolt pattern.

  • Capacity of Axle Using Outer Bearing LM67048 and Inner Bearing 25580
  • For an axle using outer bearing # LM67048 and inner bearing # 25580 I can narrow it down to having a capacity of 5,200 or 6,000 lbs. In the case of replacement hubs for the axle, the hub assemblies for either will work for you. I have included a link to these for you. You'll need your wheel bolt pattern in order to narrow the results. The most common is going to be the 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. For this you could use # 8-213-5UC1 for a wheel hub assembly and # 8-201-5UC3 for a hub and...

  • Which Wheels Fit On Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly, # 8-213-5UC1
  • When fitting wheels to a Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly, # 8-213-5UC1, you would need to measure the wheels you are trying to use. You would measure the bolt pattern, the center hole diameter, and the stud size. To measure the bolt circle on a 6 lug application you would measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the bolt hole directly across from it. So on the Dexter hub you referenced that measurement would have to be 5.5 inches. I have included a link to our FAQ article...

  • Replacement Idler and Hub Drum Using LM67048 and 25580 Bearings with 2.25 I.D. Grease Seal
  • It sounds like you have two 5200 or 6000 lb capacity axles with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. If this is the case, we have some hubs that will work for you. If you have EZ lube spindles, you would need the # 8-213-5UC1-EZ idler hub, and the # 8-201-5UC3-EZ hub/ drum. If you have standard spindles, you would need the # 8-213-5UC1 idler hub, and the # 8-201-5UC3 hub/ drum. The hubs include bearings, races, a grease seal and dust cap but the included grease seal will have the wrong inside...

  • Which Size of Bearing Buddy Will Fit the Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly # 8-213-5UC1
  • The grease cap included in this hub kit # 8-213-5UC1 has an outer diameter of 2.44-inches. So the correct Bearing Buddy would be part # BB2441 or if you want the stainless steel version that will resist corrosion much better you would want the # BB2441SS instead.

  • Using 6000 lb Hubs on 7000 lb Axle
  • As long as bearings on the hub you choose are compatible with the existing spindle on your axle, you can indeed change to hubs that have the desired wheel bolt pattern. The first step would be to confirm the dimensions of your spindles using an accurate measuring device like a digital caliper. Using a ruler would not provide a measurement that is precise enough. I have provided a diagram that will will show you where to take the measurements. The # 8-213-5UC1 hub would be compatible with...

  • Why is the Spindle Nut Not Included with the Hub Assembly
  • You can reuse the same spindle nut and cotter pin with the Dexter Hub Assembly, # 8-213-5UC1. The reason hub assemblies do not typically come with new spindle nuts is because there are different types of spindles that require different types of spindle nuts and cotter pins or washers. For example, if you have an EZ lube spindle (see photo) with a grease fitting on the end, you will not want a cotter pin going through the spindle. In place of a cotter pin, you would use a castle nut and...

  • Can Dexter 8-213-5UC1 Hub Replace Dexter 8-133 Hub
  • I spoke with my contact at Dexter to find the bearing and seal information on the 8-133 hub. She confirmed that the 8-133 hub uses inner bearing # 25580 and outer bearing # LM67048 with the 10-1 # GS-2125DL grease seal. These match with the hub you referenced # 8-213-5UC1. The Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly # 8-213-5UC1 will work well for you.

  • Actually we have a fit as a replacement for the hub you have based on the bearing and seal dimension you listed. It looks like you have a number 42 spindle which is very common. For a hub without a drum the part # 8-213-5UC1 would fit but you would need to swap out the seal with the part # GS-2250DL.

These accept either 6-on-5-1/2 idler hub # 8-213-5UC1-EZ or hub/drum assembly # 8-201-5UC3-EZ if your trailer will have brakes. Please note that these systems may require reinforcement of the trailer frame. These hubs' bolt pattern is slightly different than your Ford F-150's 6-bolt hubs. The two are not interchangeable and odds are that your wheels would not fit, or at...

  • How to Pick Out Replacement Hubs for a 6k Dexter Axle
  • You can switch your hub and drums to a higher rated setup, its just a matter of finding the correct hub to fit the spindle on your trailer. The only way to do that is to pull your current hubs, pull out both of the bearings and get the numbers stamped on them so we can determine what spindles you have to get a hub that will match. Check out the picture I attached that shows where these numbers are. You also need to determine what bolt pattern you have on your current wheels so that your...

  • Is the Distance Between Bearings In a Hub an Important Measurement When Finding a Replacement Hub
  • First, thanks for the kind words. We work hard to provide the best online experience in the industry. If the axle you have is a MOBILE home axle and not a motor home axle, then you will have to replace the axle. Mobile home axles are designed for one time use only and should not be reused. As a result of this one time use, there are very few replacement parts available. Now if it is an axle from a motor home then it is most likely a trailer axle and you will not need to replace it. If...

We do have idler hubs that use # LM67048 as the outer bearing and # 25580 as the inner bearing. Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # 8-213-5UC1 uses those bearings along with grease seal # GS-2125DL which has a 2.125" inner diameter. • Can Hubs be Replaced with Hub and Drum Assemblies on a Mobile Home Axle
  • Mobile home axles are meant for one-time use only according to the manufacturer. I advise against continuing to use them. Also, there isn't a hub and drum assembly that would fit (unless the inner and outer bearings on the axle are standard. I would have to know the bearing numbers to check). It might actually be more cost effective to replace the axles with some that come with hubs and drums and electric brakes. That way you get all new parts that are all standard and compatible with...
