E-Z Lube-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

What a difference, night and day! Worth every penny. My trailer rides like a dream now, the independent suspension made such a difference, no more bouncing on the roads especially when it gets rough. Customer service was excellent and they answered all my questions and made sure I had all the right equipment I needed. Would definitely do this again if I built another trailer.

by:

Perfect fit for my united covered trailer. Very easy install. Also made in the USA!

Very easy to convert from old mobile home hubs. Braking power is incredible.

Would like to thank Etrailer.com For The Great Products and service! These Drum Assembly's worked amazing with the electric Brake assembly's I ordered with them. Products came in within 3-4 days! Can't beat that. Thanks ETrailer, got my trailer stopping again and didn't break the bank!

Fast Free shipping. Needed to replace all four hubs. Some had bad magnet wear. Two had loose races. Had great assistance selecting measuring original bearings to make sure I got the right parts. Heave shipping boxes. They did a good job stapling smaller boxes to the bigger box which helped boxes stay together.

Sheryl was very helpful and knowledgeable in getting the right product to fit my Timbren suspensions. They were out of one of the Brake packages but she kindly split the order for us and got us what we needed asap while the other item is being restocked. Sheryl gets 5 stars from me!

Excellent service from etrailer staff. Super fast delivery. I wasn't expecting the drums to come with the spindle nuts and retainer clips. Pleased to see them in the boxes. They weren't listed with what is included on the site. Parts seem to be of good quality. I wish installing them was as easy as ordering them.

I am writing this very favorable review of my online shopping experience with etrailer. Recently I had to replace the brakes, hubs, wheels and tires on my travel trailer. Please keep in mind that I am a 65 year old man without a lot of experience with online shopping. Never-the-less, I decided to give it a try in hopes of saving some money. To my surprise, etrailer made the experience very easy and painless. Before I placed my order on line, I had a question about one of the items on my shopping list, so I placed a call to them. I spoke with a very lovely and patient Customer Service Representative by the name of Michelle S. She was very helpful in answering my questions and encouraged me to call her back directly when I was ready to place my order; and so I did. During the shipping process, she kept me informed through emails the status of my order and everything arrived on time and in great shape. I truly appreciate the personalized services I received doing business with etrailer. They truly removed all of the uncertainty and nervousness of shopping online.

by:

I bought the whole package, the brake assembly and hubs. It even came with bearings, rear seal and lug nuts. The shoes are
already on the backing plates. All you need to do is bolt the backing plate to the axle which is five bolts and splice the electric brake wire to your trailer wire. I thought the price was very reasonable and I got free shipping which would have been $126.
Very happy with this company and will do business with them again in the future.

by:

I ordered four Dexter drums and brake kits. Shipping was FAST, my order was placed about 3:45 one afternoon and at 12:15 the next day UPS was unloading it.

The quality of the Dexter parts was what I expected and the reason I paid extra. What I didn't like china made bearings, races and seals, so I spent another $180 with another supplier for U.S.A. made Timken bearings and races.

by:

Was easy to install. No issues in the first year. Still looked brand new when we repacked

by:

Nice to have good details when puchasing a product over the web. Fit as described. Great personal support when calling in as well. Purchased to convert stock humvee trailer 8 lug to 6 lug. Fit as described and quality was great.

All the product I purchased has been working great.

by:

The quality of the drums seems to be good but the bearings are Chinese which I wanted to avoid. I will replace them with Timken at additional cost to me.

by:

The 8-201-9uc-ez trailer hub assy i ordered was great quality and exact fit. The customer service second to none. etrailer is a top notch company and will be my GO TO provider for my trailer needs from now on. Only improvement id like to see is the option to get Timken bearings in the wheel kits as they only provide the chinese junk as do most other companies. Great shopping experience. Thank you Gwendolyn for all your help!

by:

This was a great purchase and a fair price. saved me a lot of time putting the brakes back together. I purchased new back plates with the pads and all parts pre-assembled and ready to bolt on the axles. slide on the new drums and bearing and i was done. quick easy and not expensive.

Would highly recommend buying from etrailer.

  • Replacing Mobile Home Trailer Hub With a Hub that is Compatible with Standard Rims and Tires
To determine if there are compatible hubs and associated bearings to replace your current hubs to a more standard size you will have to take several precise measurements on the spindle of your axle. It is recommended to use a set of dial calipers to obtain these measurements. You will need to measure the seal, inner bearing, and outer bearing. It is also possible that there may be bearing numbers stamped on these parts as well, and those would be helpful in obtaining the correct replacement...

  • Will 12x1.5 Mag Seat Lugs Fit Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly
I talked to our resident tire expert who has years of experience and the 12 x 1.5 mag seat lugs will not fit the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, Item # 8-201-9UC3-EZ. This hub and drum has a wheel bolt diameter of 1/2 inch so you would need something that fits that size. While we do not carry them, he did recommend looking for 20 x 1/2 mag/shank lugs and trying them. Wish we could help and good luck with the hunt!

  • Replacement Motor Home Axles, Hubs, And Wheels
I understand that your primary use of this motor home will be on your property. If you had a traditional trailer this would not be an issue, but since you have a motor home we have some limitations to deal with first. Your motor home axle is not a standardized axle size. Due to this, your motor home axle does not have any replacement hubs available. Since motor home axles are not replaceable, by design, manufacturers did not design aftermarket hubs for them. As a result, we do not have...

I do have an option for you but there is not really a complete conversion kit for what you are looking for. The best option would be to just replace the axle. In order to do this I would need to know what your hub face and spring center measurements are as well as the axle capacity. However, if you want to save some money then we may have a new hub/drum for you that uses a standard bolt pattern. In order to confirm if this is an option I would need to know what bearings and seal your hub...

If the armature surface where the brake magnet is damaged, or if the area where the bearings ride is showing wear or is damaged it would be time to replace the hubs. If you had bearings go out in the hub and you continued to drive on them for a while, to the point where the hub is damaged it would be time for the hub to be replaced. I wish we had an easy solution, but for your older trailer with mobile home axles we aren't going to have a hub that will fit on your spindle. Mobile home axles are made for one time use and the parts they use aren't standard. You are going to need to measure your current axles in a few places to get the correct one. The 12 MTI or the 6 MTI that you are seeing on trailer hubs like the # 8-201-9UC3-EZ that you referenced is not related to the part number or fit so it wouldn't be something you'd need to match.
