E-Z Lube-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Dexter Axle Trailer Hubs and Drums - Hub with Integrated Drum - 8-201-5UC3-EZ Review

Today, we're going to take a quick look at Dexter Axles, Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, part number 8-201-5UC3-EZ. This hub and drum assembly is designed to work on 5200-pound axles that use a 2-1/8 or 2-1/4 inside diameter grease seal. It's got a 6 on 5-1/2-inch bolt pattern. We count the studs, we'll get six and if we're to measure across from one stud directly across to another, we get our 5-1/2 inches. Now, included with the assembly, you'll find all the parts you need to mount it on your axle. You've got your inner bearing, number 25580, your outer bearing, number LM67048, six conical lug nuts, a grease cap with the removable rubber plugs that you can access the zerk fitting on the end of our EZ lube spindle and, finally, the grease seal.

The races are already pressed inside the hub and drum assembly. Now, we'll flip it over and go over the inside the dimensions. On our depth, we get about 2-1/4 inches. Our diameter across, we get our 12 inches, which means that this drum should be used with 12-inch by 2-inch brake assemblies. And that's it for Dexter Axles, Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, part number 8-201-5UC3-EZ..

I have ordered from etrailer.com on other occasions and for the most part what keeps me coming back in the pricing. They usually have the lowest price for the same original equipment. Be careful if you haven't heard that your product has shipped in a reasonable amount of time, even if their website says they have the item in stock. They will hold your order until they have all the parts to ship. I had not seen a shipped email for almost a week and when I called they said they would have it to ship in mid august, about a month after I ordered. I was told they had a similar item in stock ready to ship now if I wanted to change my order. I appreciated that and did change my order, however, I needed to know that information at the time they knew it because I had to change my vacation plans because I could not get the parts in time to take our 5th wheel. Overall this is a good place to order parts from and I will keep doing so. 414912

Product, service & technical information is great. Mike provided confirmation of all the correct parts for my trailer hub assembly. The price was so reasonable that I carry the assembly in the trailer and ready to mount so, no rebuilds on the side of the interstate. Thanks Mike!. 143349

I actually bought these parts as spares which I carry in my 26ft loaded cartrailer. We had a bearing failure on I71 heading to Akron, OH on a Sundaynight last summer. I had all the parts to change the bearings and seal but,it wasnt much fun or safe on the side of a busy interstate. We were on ourway within an hour. Right after that I ordered the assembly which will cut our change out time to about 20 mins. Given the minimal cost, any trailerowner should carry a spare assembly.

I have replaced all 4 of my drums with these and they work perfectly. The only concern is the need to verify the inner seal inner diameter. Some are 2.25" and some are 2.12" and the seal will destroy the seal if you use one too small. (Ask me how I know) The "drum" product is good quality, fits perfectly. I didn't use the lug nuts as I have aluminum wheels and it takes different nuts. 468167

I got these to replace my hosed up 4-9.44 hubs (8-155). One was a 3-9.44 hub (one hole was bad), the other three hubs had two different sized bolts in them. This was for a 1988 HMD 20 foot stock trailer with #5200 axles. The outer bearing for the 4-9.44 hub was an LM67048 so I opted to stick with that bearing to fit the spindle. Fit perfect. Very happy with my purchase. 26624

Ask the Experts about this Dexter Axle Trailer Hubs and Drums

Do you have a question about this Trailer Hubs and Drum?

  • Should 3,500 lb or 5,200 lb Timbren Axle-Less System be Used for over 3,600 lbs of Loaded Trailer
  • Since your axle will ultimately be under the weight of your trailer and it's contents you definitely need to make sure that it is rated for more than what you will be carrying. You need to go with the 5,200 lb weight capacity. For this we have the Straight Spindle # ASR5200S01, 4" Lift Spindle # TASR5200S03, and 4" Drop Spindle # ASR5200S04. This is compatible with the idler hub # 8-213-5UC1-EZ or the hub and drum assembly # 8-201-5UC3-EZ. I recommend going with the hub and drum assembly...

  • I do have a solution for you, however when I spoke with my contact at Lippert they said that your axle is rated for 5,200 lbs and the highest rated standard axles that we have are rated for 3,500 lbs. The alternative solution that we have is the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension # ASR5200S01. This system is rated for 5,200 lbs and can be used as a single axle or you can use 2 for a tandem axle trailer. There are a few great things about the Timbren system. It increases ground clearance since...

These come with the correct bearings that you need for your spindle but you will need to also purchase the correct Grease Seal, part # RG06-070, as the seal that comes with either hub is slightly too small. They both use the same brake mounting flanges but the bearings are different. The straight spindles use a 25580 inner/LM67048 outer bearing and the lift spindles use a 25580 inner/15123 outer bearing. This could be your coupler, leaf springs, wheels, tires, or the frame itself. The 12 inch Dexter Trailer Hub # 8-201-5UC3-EZ that you referenced will not fit the spindles on your trailer because the inner bearing it uses is much too large. This particular hub uses the # 25580 inner bearing that has a 1.75 inch inner diameter (compared to the 1.378...

  • Selecting Correct Replacement 12 x 2 Electric Brake and Drum Assembly for 6000-lb Axle
  • The best way to identify the correct replacement components for your trailer is by using the part numbers from your current inner and outer bearings and grease seals (or a spindle measurement where the seal and bearings ride). It is possible to measure the spindles to obtain grease seal dimensions (location B on the photo) but this process requires care and a precision digital caliper like # PTW80157. You will also need to confirm the diameter of your wheel studs. We already know your brakes...

  • Trailer Hub Recommendation for Mobile Home Axle with Bearing Numbers 25580 and LM67048
  • We have hubs that will fit your spindle, but they all have 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt patterns like the part # 8-201-5UC3-EZ. You actually got incredibly lucky though as 99% of the time mobile home axles don't use standard trailer parts so none of the hubs we offer would fit.

  • Raising Trailer with Welded On Torsion Axles
  • There is a solution for you, but the lift kits you referred to such as # K71-725-02 will not work with welded on torsion axles. The best option is for you to simply remove your torsion axles and use the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # TASR5200S03, which is rated for 5,200 lbs and has a 4" lift spindle. With these you would need Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-201-5UC3-EZ or Idler Hub Assembly # 8-213-5UC1-EZ. With the Timbrens there is no alignment needed; the system does...

  • What Size Wheel Pilot Hole Will Fit Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum # 8-201-5UC3-EZ
  • In addition to making sure the pilot hole of your wheel is large enough you will also need to measure the bolt pattern of your wheel (see FAQ and video). The bolt pattern of the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum # 8-201-5UC3-EZ is 6 on 5-1/2. I contacted our representative at Dexter about the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum # 8-201-5UC3-EZ. He informed me that the pilot hole on your wheel will need to be 3.622 inches or larger. If your trailer hub uses lug nuts, the pilot hole diameter...

  • Replacment Hub and Brake Assemblies for 2004 Airstream Safari
  • For the left hand side brakes, you will want to use the 12 Inch Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assembly for 6K Axles - LH # 23-458. The right-hand side brake assemblies is part # 23-459. These self-adjusting brakes have a weight capacity of 2,000 pounds and fit 12 inch x 2 inch drums. For a replacement drum, you will want to use # 8-201-5UC3 if you have standard spindles and # 8-201-5UC3-EZ if you have EZ Lube spindles. The grease seal that comes with these hubs has a smaller inner diameter...

  • Timbren Axle-Less Suspension System for Off-Road Tear Camper
  • There is a lot to unpack here so I'll try address your concerns as best I can. First, you should not use a spacer of any kind to ensure your wheels fit; this would cause potential installation issues with the overall assembly not to mention void the warranties on each of the products you are looking at. The problem is if you need 8 inches to the hub face like what you get with the Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # ASR35HDS01. If this is a requirement for your wheels...

  • Replacement Idler and Hub Drum Using LM67048 and 25580 Bearings with 2.25 I.D. Grease Seal
  • It sounds like you have two 5200 or 6000 lb capacity axles with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. If this is the case, we have some hubs that will work for you. If you have EZ lube spindles, you would need the # 8-213-5UC1-EZ idler hub, and the # 8-201-5UC3-EZ hub/ drum. If you have standard spindles, you would need the # 8-213-5UC1 idler hub, and the # 8-201-5UC3 hub/ drum. The hubs include bearings, races, a grease seal and dust cap but the included grease seal will have the wrong inside...

  • Recommended Hubs for 5200-lb Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System
  • Timbren does offer two 5200-lb-rated axle-less suspension systems that can be seen by clicking on the link provided. These accept either 6-on-5-1/2 idler hub # 8-213-5UC1-EZ or hub/drum assembly # 8-201-5UC3-EZ if your trailer will have brakes. Please note that these systems may require reinforcement of the trailer frame. These hubs' bolt pattern is slightly different than your Ford F-150's 6-bolt hubs. The two are not interchangeable and odds are that your wheels would not fit, or at...

  • Can Brakes Be Added to Cox Super Loader Boat Trailer
