Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Dexter Axle Trailer Hubs and Drums - Hub - 42660UC1 Review

Today we're going to review part number 42660UC1. This is the Dexter Agricultural Trailer Hub Assembly for 6,000 lbs axles. With the 6 on 6" bolt pattern. This trailer hub assembly is designed to fit on agricultural applications that use the 6 on 6" bolt pattern. These agricultural hubs are used in building or repairing implement wagons, carter's machinery. The agricultural hubs and spindles that they're designed for are also designed for low speed applications.

Which means the weight capacities on this that are showing are for speeds not to exceed 20 miles per hour. This part number includes everything showing here. It includes the hub assembly right here. Now the hub assembly does already have the bearing races preinstalled. As you can see here the outer bearing race and the inner bearing race. Also, comes with the inner and outer bearings.

The inner bearing number is 25580. The outer bearing number is Lm67048. It does come with the grease seal, which is part number 42385. It comes with the grease cap, it's a 2.44" outer diameter cap. We sell it also separately as a part number F001520.

This does come with this assembly. Now, it does come with the 6 9/16 diameter wheel bolt. Again, the capacity on this is 3,000 lbs per hub. When this is used with a hub on the other side of the axle, it would meet the 6,000 lbs actual rating. Again, the application that this goes on are 6,000 lbs axles with the number 42 spindles. That require a 2 1/4" inside diameter grease seal.

Again, the bolt pattern 6 on 6" and the wheel bolts are the 9/16's to go with it. Just like that they screw in. That should do it for the review of part number 42660UC1. The Dexter Agricultural Trailer Hub Assembly for 6,000 lbs Axles. With the 6 on 6" bolt pattern. .

  • We do have some idler hubs, without the drums, that fit bearings # 25580 and # LM67048. All of them have a 6 lug bolt pattern. We have two, part # 8-213-5UC1 for standard axles and # 8-213-5UC1-EZ for E-Z Lube axles, that use grease seals 10-10, part # RG06-090 and have a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. The other is an agricultural hub and is more likely what fits your mobile home axles. It's a 6 on 6 bolt pattern and uses the same bearings but instead fits a 42385 grease seal, part # GS-2250DL....

  • How to Distinguish Between Agriculture and Standard Trailer Hub
  • Agricultural hubs, such as the Dexter # 42660UC1, are designed specifically to fit agricultural applications and certain spindle models. These types of hubs are typically used in building or repairing implement wagons, carts or machinery. The spindles that these hubs are designed for are also built for very low speed applications (usually around 20 mph), so the listed weight capacity on these hubs are only rated for these lower speeds.
