Fit perfect, install was easy and quick. Packaging came in damaged with minor damage to the finish of the hitch. Last (3) hitches I have bought from etrailer were delivered in this same manner. Perhaps better packaging should be considered to stabilize the hitch inside the packaging.
Excellent quality product. Easy enough to install, however I would recommend drilling out the mounting holes just a little to allow the carriage bolts to be pulled through the mounting brackets. When you get to that step you'll understand what I am talking about. Take your time cutting out around the hitch and you'll end up with a very clean, oem look to your new hitch.
The hitch and wiring kit showed up on time as stated. Installed with the videos on line. Probably 2 hours max for the total installation. I really like the install videos and showing each hitch installed to pick the correct one out. This install was shown to keep as much clearance and keep the hitch more hidden. Excellent product, great video to help make the installation very easy
It was a bit of a pain to do alone, but still done under 2 hours. My frame had the weld nuts in place and I used the existing bolts. Exhaust needed to be unbolted to make room to slide the hitch up and I used a combination of the exhaust and jackstands to hold the hitch in place. Not sure the bottom cut in the fascia is actually needed, but I cut it anyway. The plastic cover from the rear that is removed at the beginning can be trimmed AND to fit back in place giving a much more factory installed look. I already had it back in place so I do not have pictures of where I trimmed. When you install yours, you’ll see how easy it is to guess what needs to be trimmed. The 53lb-ft of torque seems lower than other hitch bolts I’ve installed, but I’m not the engineer here.
So, glad that I went with E-trailer, quick response and delivered on time when they said it would be there. I look forward to installing the trailer bracket to our vehicle and enjoy it to carry our bike rack.
Impossible to install on a 2022 Tiguan. I’m thinking the only way to make it possible is to drill the two holes furthest away from the access hole a little larger than the bolts and also the hitch holes drilled larger. I wouldn’t know if this works though, because ones you use/destroy the small gauge spring wire that feeds the bolts, they are no good. Bolts are still inside the frame to lay rest. I’m just gonna drill a hole to the other side of the frame tube and use a 3/8 x 4” bolt. Prior models have bolts that thread into frame, don’t know why this changed.

I know that that the installation of the hitch is challenging. I recommend watching a video install of a similar hitch on 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan in the link before for reference.
Customer service was excellent!!!
4/5 star. The hitch arrived on time, but could have based a little better packaging. It had some physical damage and the box was open and torn. Mounting hardware was found in the receiver tube after customer support responded. Outside of the shipping damage, the hitch installed easily and works great.
